Google Retires AdSense Referrals

Did you read the notice that Google AdSense is going to retire their referral program? I think that all publishers were sent an email notification, if I a not mistaken, so do check that email account that you have on record.

I don’t know if it is a good or bad thing to terminate a referral program. I took down my referral buttons from my sites a long time ago. I have yet to check all my sites, though, so maybe some are still live. LOL

Anyway, I think that almost every webmaster is a publisher of AdSense already. Those who are not either do not know the potential in AdSense, do not want to implement AdSense on their websites or have been banned by AdSense already, unfortunately.

So if you still have AdSense referral buttons on your site, take them down, you will not get anything out of it and will only be wasting virtual real estate.

Free Advertising For Your Sites

I may have twenty blogs, some are not as visited as others. Frankly, starting blogs is easy. The difficult part is in getting a consistent stream of traffic to the blogs.

This morning, I learned of a new, innovative, free advertising system which combines rotating banner and text advertising. Although advertising is free, you would still need to purchase your spot with “credit”.

To receive free credits, you need webmaster association generated from your website and get as many referrals as possible. You even earn credits from THEIR referrals for life too! I think that’s awesome. On top of that, you will get full features of tracking your advertising campaigns just like what you will get in a premium advertising site!

I don’t know about you but I am going to try this. I need the extra eyeballs!

iPhone 3G Coming On 11th July, 2008. Are You Ready?

Is your wallet ready? LOL

The day that many of us iPhone users, and iPhone watchers are waiting for is coming soon. 11th July, 2008 is the day that the Apple iPhone 3G will be ready to ship.

I can imagine people in the United States and a host of other countries lucky enough to be releasing the iPhone 3G on 11th July, 2008, as well, will be lining up outside the telcos or Apple Stores in their respective countries. It will be an exciting day just like when the Apple iPhone 2G was launched a year ago.

It is just too bad that Malaysia will not be one of the first countries to launch the Apple iPhone 3G. What losers. Bleh… if we are also launching it, I guess I will be in KL to queue up for my new iPhone 3G as well.

The thing that I sorely want my iPhone to have is 3G capability. The other stuff, I don’t really mind. So, I guess that will have to wait till the end of the year when it is expected to arrive in Malaysia legally.

Divide The Ride On CBS Evening News

I have written quite a number of times on carpooling and their benefits. However, none has been that famous to be featured in the evening news, and on CBS Evening News with Katie “the legs” Couric, too!

Introducing Divide The Ride, if you have not known about it yet. This is a free carpool system where you can check out at http://www.dividetheride.com, or participate in, where families carpool and divide the ride for their children’s school or other activities. If you have school going children, I am sure you understand the duty of ferrying them to one activity or another.

Well, there’s no longer the need to do this alone if you divide the ride with a neighbor or someone in the community who also has children who are in the same activities.

The difference between Divide The Ride and other carpooling programs that you may have come across is that Divide The Ride will only match you with people that you already know. So it is totally safe to participate in it.

Free Lifetime Warranty For Modem

I mentioned that my telephone line was struck by lightning a week ago. Well, I have changed most hardware and got the telephone line repaired. However, since that strike, my internet connection has not been the same. My signal keeps dropping causing my internet connection to break.

I thought that it’s all because of the electric charge that has gone through my cables and hardware but my friends, who are also Streamyx subscribers, tell me that they are experiencing bad internet connections lately as well.

Anyway, I called TM customer service and made complaints that my signal keep dropping. After numerous calls and a lapse of a few days, they finally lodged a report for me.

This evening, the Telekom technician came and replaced my broadband modem/router for me. Well, he could not be sure if the problem was with the previous modem/router but he said let’s try a new unit and see if the problem persists.

The thing is, he does not know that I got hit by lightning. Anyway, I do have free lifetime warranty on my modems from Telekom because I was one of the first 5,000 Streamyx subscribers when they first launched in back in I have forgotten which year. Awesome!

So far, I did experience a drop in signal. Maybe Streamyx is crappy lately. Maybe it is a problem with my telephone cable. We’ll have to wait and see.

Children’s Healthy Outdoor Games For Summer

My friend, Warren, who has a toddler, is concerned with the crime rate in his area to allow his son to play for long hours outdoors. Living in the city has its advantages and disadvantages, of course.

Just now, when I learnt of these manfred mantis playsets, I thought that they would be perfect for Warren to install in his backyard. There’s room enough for this! And even if there’s not enough space, there is nothing to worry about as the versatility of the Manfred Mantis allows it to be fixed and installed according to the size we prefer.

I am sure that Warren knows the benefits of having one in his yard. Besides the fact that his son no longer needs to go to the neighborhood playground to play, which is risky, he could invite his friends over and have a blast in the privacy and security of home.

The Manfred Mantis home playset is so colorful and fun to play with that it could occupy the children for long hours. Outdoor activity like this would be great especially in summer. I am sure that the children would prefer playing with the Manfred Mantis over watching TV or playing electronic games!

Streamyx Sucks Big Time

I thought that I should not blame Streamyx for the broadband internet connection that has been plaguing me since early last week. Like I mentioned, my internet connection has never been the same after my set up was struck by lightning.

However, today I learnt that I am not the only one experiencing signal drops. I have, for the record, experienced, almost thirty times disconnection today alone and yes, I am pretty pissed off! I could hardly get any work done at all because I wasted plenty of time just trying to reboot my modem, enable/disable my connection, just to try to get a more stable internet connection.

And you know what? There are some websites that I could not access to. My web host has told me previously that this is a problem with Streamyx. I could access these sites with my Celcom 3G via my mobile device so it is confirmed that these sites are live and there is no issue with their server.

I would not say that I am paying an arm and a leg for my internet service because it is only RM66 per month but I still expect it to function without the signal dropping as and when it likes and spoiling my work midway.

So, yes, Streamyx sucks big time!
