Enrolling In An Online Tertiary Course

It’s the start of a brand new year once again and I am still not able to find time to enroll myself in a college. Like mentioned previously, I already know that my only hope of gaining a higher education is through online education. Elearning is nothing new to my family as my Uncle has an elearning institute where he arranges classes online for his students who are all working adults.

I was introduced to Capella University, an accredited university that has offline and online campuses and was established in 1993. I was told that I would be able to enroll in whatever course I am interested in because they do have many courses, from certification courses to undergraduate to post graduate studies. I could even study masters in psychology if I wanted to, provided I qualify, of course!

I know I have to be proactive and do something about it if I want to improve myself. I don’t want to procrastinate any longer!

Zeroing In On San Diego Real Estate

My friend, Paul, tells me that the economy in the United States is not so rosy right now. Another friend even told me that it is nearing recession. Is it already? That wouldn’t be good. However, Paul is of the logic that when people let go their properties, it is time to buy. Of course, he can say so since he has cash to spare.

Anyway, Paul said that perhaps these few months would be the time to zero in on his favorite Point Loma real estate. Point Loma is a beautiful luxurious seaside neighborhood in San Diego, California. Because of the prices, Paul said that if he does not buy during a downturn, he may never be able to own property there.

Another investment option would be North Park San Diego real estate but his first choice would still be Point Loma.

Whatever it is, Paul has already requested for San Diego foreclosure lists from a few local Realtors so that he could go through the properties. I told him not to hurry and wait till there is an economic direction in the nest couple of months. Right now, we don’t even know how the economic health is at, right?

But I guess, as an experienced property investor, Paul knows what he is doing. All the best to him, anyway!

80,306 Spam Comments

A few months after setting up this blog, my first self-hosted blog powered by WordPress, I was overwhelmed by the number of spam comments I received. As a new WordPress user, it took me a few months before I implemented Akismet plug-in. I know it’s supposedly built-in but I did not request for an API key.

It you have used the old version of Akismet, you will know that this latest version helps us to manage our spam comment so much easier. At least I no longer have to go through each and every page to look for that wayward legitimate comment. What I do now is just go to the Comments to be moderated page and not care about Track backs and Ping backs.

Guess what? Today, my Spam comment went above 80,000 and it is still counting, it’s scary! Can you imagine the amount of time I wasted just clearing my Spam? I always feel bad if I had accidentally deleted a REAL comment and I also feel back deleting insightful comments that were left on my blog by “products” or “commercial sites”.

However, I think that my priority is to keep my blogs clean and I will try to do whatever I can, even if I do delete genuine comments. See, right now, I already have 80,306 spam and I know that in a month’s time, it will grow to six figures *shiver*

Nicola McLean To Return To Page 3 Of The Daily Star

I read an article titled, Model ‘back after boob job’, recently that British model, Nicola McLean, who received her big break as a Page 3 model of the Daily Star plans to go topless again. Well, you may or may not know that Page 3 of the Daily Star has topless models. OK, frankly, I can’t imagine that happening over here in Malaysia but that’s the way it is in the UK.

The article also mentions that Nicola, who made her first appearance as a topless model at 18 years old has had a breast enhancement surgery. Now she is only 25 and she says that it is time to show off her new body again.

I think that it is a personal choice if we want to get a plastic surgery. We may look perfectly fine to others but if we feel that getting a little nip here and a little tuck there would make us feel better, then by all means, do so.

However, always be sure to only go to certified cosmetic surgeons who are specially trained to perform these surgeries and not get one from Doctor Quacks. You know, it has been said that cheap can’t be good and good is not cheap and it can’t be truer when it comes to cosmetics surgery!

Time For A Blog Break

All right, I’ve been stuck to my blogs for at least four days and it’s time to get a break. My friend, Amy, has already taken a shopping break last night. Me, tonight, I will be going for a movie and laptop shopping.

LOL You think I will be buying a laptop tonight? No, I will just go check them out this evening and only buy it during PC Fair in April. haha!

PIKOM PC Fair 2008 (I)

I may have neglected my passion blogs terribly in recent days but one more day without updating won’t hurt them. Will they explode or something? Naaahh….. I don’t think so, but it is just weird if I totally do not blog. Maybe I will sneak in a post or two? Boy, am I addicted to blogging. Haha!

Intriguing Italy

I have always wanted to visit Italy after getting to know an Italian boy when we were both students. Well, he said that what I watch on TV is just a small part of life in Italy and there are still many things about the people and country that I could discover only if I am there personally. Of course, the sights and sounds of Italy cannot be captured on film and have to be experienced for real!

As a preliminary research, I went to Trip take to check out the hotels of various popular Italian cities. If you have been to Italy, I am sure that you would have visited a few cities well known cities like Rome, Venice, and Florence.

Right now, I cannot even decide which Italian cities I will be visiting but I did check on a Florence hotel because my friend told me that Florence is a city that I MUST visit! OK!!

My sister, meanwhile, told me to check out Venice. How can I forget the beautiful Venice hotel that she stayed in during her Italian vacation? I may have only seen photographs of it but it left a lasting impression on me.

Since I was already on TripTake, I decided to compare a couple of Napoli hotels. If you remember, my friend told me that I should not only look for cheap hotels but also user ratings. This is very important to determine how satisfied guests are with that particular hotel.

I noticed that the most popular Verona hotel as listed o TripTake.com is way cheaper than the other top hotels of other cities. Perhaps this calls for a reservation from me. I love cheap, remember?

While I have no definite plans to visit intriguing Italy, at least after browsing through Triptake, I now have a fair idea of what to set my budget for a satisfactory and memorable vacation to Italy!

Google Acquires GrandCentral

Not only have they acquired it, they are also offering this service to bloggers for free. Is this good news or what? Right now, GrandCentral is still in Beta and I think Google will be putting men to tweak the application. Well, they have the resources, don’t they?

The good news is that if you are a blogger, you can sign up and start using GrandCentral immediately. You don’t even have to wait for them to be out of Beta.

If you do not know how it works, this actually is a voice mail application where you can place a web call button on your blog and your readers can call you without having to know your phone number. If you are offline, though, they can leave you voice messages.

Isn’t that awesome? I wonder if anyone would even bother to call me if I were to implement this on my blog. One thing I would definitely like to know is if this is a totally free service even for international users and if we can manage multiple webcall buttons from one GrandCentral account. We bloggers have so many [too many!] blogs, you know? LOL
