PSN Restored In Many Parts Of The World

Sony may have restored its PlayStation Network services in most parts of the world. Unfortunately, the network is still down for us in Malaysia. This is because Japan does not allow Sony to restart its PS3 and PSP online servers in the country until they are shown further evidence that the two-time hacker-breached PlayStation Network is safe again.

Because of this, countries near Japan like South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia still cannot access the PlayStation Network because the servers that serve these countries are based in Japan. So it looks like we are offline by association.

I wonder when PSN will be back online for us. At first Sony said that we’ll be online by 31st May, so there are still two more weeks to go. I’m sure many of us already have something else to occupy our time.

Change Your LastPass Online Password Manager Password

When I first started to get online and began registering with numerous websites, I was overwhelmed with my login IDs and passwords and thought that online password managers were the best thing created after slice bread. After a while, I realised that I cannot put my faith in online password managers because once that server gets hacked, ALL my accounts will be gone.

This morning, while checking technology news, I read that LastPass, a rather popular online password manager, has issued an alert to users, and advised all to change their master password. LastPass noticed “a network traffic anomaly” and thinks that it is a hacking attempt.

Right now, we have no idea if LastPass really has been hacked so it’s best to quickly change your master password to LastPass first and if you can, change the password of your important websites. In any case, you really should allow an online password manager to manage your password, particularly to financial websites.

Play Station Down For One Week

My friends whose children play Play Station every day and if they can have their way, they would play it non stop because it’s just so addictive, tell me that the kids are screaming that they have not been able to access Play Station Network for the past one week.

Well, this is one time that I am glad I do not have Play Station, not that I have time for games like those on Play Station anyway. Whatever free time I have, I just play on Facebook. Those are pretty addictive too, but not as terrible as Play Station games!

I find that although this down time is bad for the company, it’s a good thing for gamers. At least with this extended break from Play Station, they get to LIVE life away from digital entertainment. Yeah, go out and smell those flowers!

How To Apply Best Skins Ever iPhone Total Body Skin

When my iPhone total body skin arrived from Best Skins Ever, I was a little afraid that I would spoil my iPhone because we have to wet the skin to apply it. The back of the skin is already like sticker and yet we have to wet it.

Best Skins Ever has very good instructions on how to apply their skins on our digital devices which you can read HERE. In fact, before applying your skin, you MUST read this page first.

I also watched NYChen’s video on applying Best Skins Ever skin on his Sansa e250. Even though it does not really help you in applying your skin because you have to do it yourself, watching the video gives you confidence because it does not look that difficult.

When I was applying my skin on my Apple iPhone, I did it on the screen first, as advised by BSE. The thing that I found difficult is the stickiness that caused my fingerprints to be imprinted at the corners but this is not difficult to take off. Just wet your fingers and rub at the spots that caught your fingerprint.

Another problem I faced was that I tried to squish off excess water trapped between my skin and iPhone like how NYChen did but the skin kept shifting that I just let it be.

After applying the skin on the front, I decided NOT to apply the back skin. This is because with the skin, the iPhone feels different. I know that it is protected and the important part is the screen, although Apple says that it is scratch-proof. I think that if both sides of the iPhone is skinned, the metal and glass feel would feel like plastic already. At least that is my opinion.

I now have two extra iPhone total body skin and a back skin. See, I bought two extra skins just to be sure that I have back up in case I spoilt the skin in my application. Hahaha

Anyway, I think that I prefer skins that use static to stick although they come off easily, especially on the iPhone because it does not have a catch on the sides.

ThinkGeek Coupon Codes

A friend, Mark, told me that his father’s birthday is coming up and he has no idea what to get for him. Well, I would be stumped too if I have to buy a birthday gift for someone who apparently has all the material things that he needs, or at least could afford to buy whatever he fancies. Mark says he faces the same problem every year and even when he thought that he nailed it, his father never seemed impressed. If he was, he never showed it.

I may not know Mark’s dad personally but from what I was told, he has a penchant for consumer electronic devices. I suggested to Mark to get something from ThinkGeek because of the many novelty electronic gifts. Besides, I have this thinkgeek coupon that he could apply on his purchases and save some money. His dad may be rich but he’s still a struggling student.

I spotted a USB Fishquarium which I think would cause Mark’s dad to do a double take. I know he is not easily impressed but he surely would be with a gift like this! Besides, it’s a very practical gift that he could place on his desk because it’s actually a combination of a small aquarium, a desk lamp, desk clock and pencil holder. It’s a good thing it’s inexpensive!

How To Sign Out Of iPhone Email

I was asked this question by a fellow iPhone user. Although I have set up Gmail on my iPhone, I hardly use it but just now, I checked it to see if there really is no way to sign out iPhone email. True enough, there is no option to do so and I think this is rather risky if we do not lock our iPhone with a password, like myself.

To work around this, if we do not want to use email anymore, just go to SETTINGS –> Mail –> Accounts [Gmail or whatever your account is] –> Account –> and turn it OFF.

Once it is OFF, when you access your email via the Mail icon on your SpringBoard, you will see this on your screen.

Of course, if you would like to take extra precaution, after turning your email account OFF, delete the password from the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) of your IMAP Account Information.

Remember to add in your password and turn it ON again when you want to use it. Yea, I know it’s a little tedious but then what to do when there is no direct option to keep the email logged in or out.

If you know of a better way, do share by leaving a comment. Thanks.

How To Disable Camera Prompt For Apple iPhone

If you don’t use your iPhone camera regularly, I am sure you will feel that it is quite irritating to have the prompt pop-up asking you for an action when you dock your iPhone to your computer and to charge. It’s ANOTHER click of the mouse which I think is unnecessary.

If you want to disable that prompt, just connect your iPhone as usual, click Cancel when the prompt pops up. Then go to “My Computer” and you will see the ugly Apple iPhone icon. By the way, this icon only appears when the iPhone is connected. And this is also where you manage the photos that you have taken with your iPhone.

Anyway, right click on this icon and select “Properties”. A window will pop up so select “Events” tab. You will be able to see the four different actions you will like the iPhone to take once it is connected to the computer.

As you can see in the image here, “Take no action” is what I have selected. True enough, the prompt never pops up and annoys me anymore whenever I dock my iPhone!
