Imitation Phones

I met a guy in the street a couple of days ago, and he offered to sell me mobile phones. He had on him Samsung and Nokia phones of various models. Looking closely, these are not real branded phones but imitation.

I reset one “Samsung Galaxy Note II” and everything turned to Chinese. That told me the phones are from China. This doesn’t mean they are no good. In fact, they are very responsive and look like Note II, except they do not come with the S-Pen.

For the 1/6 price of a real Galaxy Note II, some people may succumb to the temptation, but I did not because I don’t need a new phone. I just want a tablet that could edit photos from my camera’s memory card.

iPhone 5 In Malaysia

The Apple iPhone 5 is finally in Malaysia, and it was launched just a couple of nights ago at Telco stores. Those come with contracts.

The iPhone 5 is also available online at Apple Stores Malaysia, just in time for Christmas.

And the prices? From RM2,199 for 16GB to RM2,799 for 64GB. When can we have cheaper iPhones??

The iPhone 5 come in two boring colours of black and white. Can we have pink and yellow? Need to buy cover for them. Sigh!

iPad Mini In Malaysia

PC Fair is now being held in Kuala Lumpur. My friends who visited told me that iPad Mini is already on sale there. And their verdict? It’s nothing special and if you already have an iPad, there is no reason to get the iPad Mini, unless you want a smaller iPad.

LOL that’s the whole reason of Apple making iPad smaller, right? Because the original iPads were just too large.

Well, iPad Mini isn’t cheap too, despite its smaller size. A friend told me it’s around RM1500 for a 16GB WiFi only device, which is around the same price, or even more expensive than the new WiFi only iPad with the same capacity. Right?

Fring Isolates Users

As a long time Fring user, I didn’t realise there was a problem with it, until a friend, whom I Fring with, told me that he cannot see my online status. I was logged in, and I thought that he wasn’t.

So, he told me that he can’t text me, and neither could I text him. He told me to upgrade to the latest version of Andriod, as I am still using an older version because I had not been able to upgrade OTA.

Anyway, after uninstalling and then failed to install Fring, I decided to let go of the app. My friend also followed suit and removed his, so I guess, by isolating older Android users, Fring has lost a good number of users.

Ultrabook Convertibles

With the release of Windows 8, it looks like I don’t have too long to wait for the ultrabook convertibles (Notebook + Tablet) to be shipped to Malaysia. But now, I need to wait for the prices to go down a little from the competition.

However, my friend said that Windows 8 is still not good enough, now that he has seen its workings, and told me that I’m better off getting an iPad or an Android tablet. I already have a 7in Android tablet, and I am not travelling with it because it is too small.

Anyway, I will see how later. If an ultrabook convertible is affordable, I would get it!

iPad Mini

Apple launched the iPad Mini without much fanfare, and yet, I read reports that some stores in the US have already sold out their stocks. Oh, wow! So, what is new with the iPad Mini? From what I read, apart from the smaller size, nothing has changed, no new features, etc.

My friend told me that the iPad is “next to useless” and this is from an Apple user who has gone through different generations of the Mac and iPhone. Hurmp! Should I get this or should I not? I already have a 7in tablet, though.

Another friend, when she discovered the name of the new iPad, exclaimed, “Aiyoyo! I Padmini lah!”

Windows 8 Tablets

I have waited such a long time for a tablet that runs on Windows 8 and it is finally out earlier this week! But you know what? I still have no reason to purchase a new laptop yet. I don’t even want a reason because it is still so expensive, you know?

I hope by the time I really do need to replace my current laptop, Windows 8 are a lot cheaper, and there are even more choices in the market.

It’s amazing that even though my laptop now is only 12inches, new products in the market are so much slimmer and lighter! Gah!!! Envious!!!
