US$399.99 For Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

It has been announced that Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will begin selling in the United States from 11th April onwards. That’s later today. At a price of US$399.99 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only version, it is a little deep in the pocket, according to what I have read.

Electronics are never sold at an accurate

Forex conversion rate, so I don’t expect it to be sold at RM1200. Maybe RM1500 would be a truer price. And if one were to go for a device with larger storage capacity with 3G and phone call capabilities, it could possibly hit RM2,000.

Obviously, as

a potential customer of Note 8.0, I don’t wish to see that price point. Slightly more than RM1,000 would be a more realistic sale price. So far, there has been no indication of the Malaysian price yet. What say you?

New iPhone To Launch This Summer

The new iPhone is expected to be

launched in the Summer, ahead of the expected Fall launch, as were in the cases of the previous iPhone models.

It is rumoured that this new model will be cheaper, compared to previous models with price points of about USD600, so this phone is expected to help Apple capture some more market share, and compete against cheaper smart phones running on Android OS.

Samsung is currently the top mobile phone company in the world, and Apple is trying to catch up. However, Apple is a company that doesn’t cater to the lower-end market so far, but maybe this new model will be first for Apple…

Waiting For Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

I am waiting for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to be released in the Malaysian market. When is it coming???

Earlier, my friend suggested that I get the Note 2, but I feel that at 5.5in, it is too large to use it as my primary phone.

And so he said that i should get the 10.1in. Wouldn’t that be too heavy and bulky?

I already have a 7in tablet, a Huawei MediaPad, and do not plan to get another 7incher, but now that Samsung is coming out with an 8in Note, I think that’s the most appropriate size for me.

But then again, I am already carrying three devices: my mobile phone, a secondary phone and an iPod Touch. That’s in addition to my camera. Bah! No wonder my bag is getting heavier and heavier!

Samsung Galaxy S4

I am searching for the ideal phone right now, after using my current Motorola Defy for more than two years. I have always been plagued with problems with this phone, but I have withstood all those problems, until now, I think it’s time to get a new one.

Android has improved by leaps and bound over these two years, but I am still stuck with 2.1 Eclair, because the poor phone has been abandoned by Motorola.

Anyway, I am wondering if Samsung Galaxy S4 would be a good choice. Its 5-in screen will be a tad too large for a phone but I will wait until I have physically checked out the phone when it is in the market.

Celcom Device Offers

As a long time Celcom customer, I am envious of friends who are with Maxis. Many of them are members of Maxis One Club and they occasionally are offered awesome deals on devices. For example, a friend bought his Samsung SIII for RM999 only, which is a steal even after one year now.

Now, even though I am a long-time Celcom customer, my bill is above RM150 monthly and my payment is prompt because I opted for auto debit, I don’t get to enjoy any such benefits.

Recently, I received a call from Celcom, who told me they are offering my some deals on devices and would email me shortly.

After a few days, I received their offer by email and was shocked to find that the so called deals are for older devices.

Oh, come on! I felt insulted and unappreciated as a long-time customer.

Tablet or Phablet

I am in two minds if I should get myself a tablet or phablet. A phablet is too large to fit in my pocket, while a tablet would be even larger but at least there’s more screen real estate to do some proper productive work.

I only have the two Samsung Notes in mind; Note II and Note 10.1…. both are around the same price and fit my budget. But the question is, which one do I really need?

Of course, I would love to have both. Unfortunately, I cannot afford both. My friend said if I can’t afford both, I should get the phablet instead.

Me thinks I should get a 10.1. How?

Oh well, in the end, the decision falls on myself. Sigh!

Desktop Replacement

Am thinking of buying a 10in tablet with keyboard dock as a replacement for the older desktop at home. That is used by my family and they are just content consumers, sometimes they do reply emails but not regularly.

HHmm the Asus EEE Transformer which I had waited for before it was released, is now selling cheap, because quite a few models have been launched since then, and the price dropped by 50%! Sigh… technology!

Am thinking if I should get it. My friend said no, and asked me to get a newer model. But then this is not for work, but more for browsing. Besides, even though its technology is older, it still suits the needs of my family.

Buy or not?
