Cover For Huawei Media Tab

After winning the 7in Huawei Media Tab in a contest three weeks ago, I finally found time to load it with apps and went shopping for a cover for it. I went to a major accessories shopping centre in my city… and found that Samsung rules.

Yes, I knew it long ago but thought that something would fit, surely. But no… my 7in tablet has a camera at the back BUT most tablets this size only have a front camera. Duh.

So how? It looks like I have to either buy online through Huawei website, if they have an online store, or go to Lowyat Plaza to search for it or something, when I could spare the time. I hope I can find it online, though!

Huawei Media Tab

I recently won a Huawei Media Tab in a contest. It is 7in and runs Android. I have hankered for a tablet for a long time but now that I have it, I don’t think it is that suitable for content output. More like input.

However, I am having a fun time playing around with it and will customise it when I have more time.

This Huawei Media Tab can function as a phone as well, though I read reviews online that some people experienced dropped calls, poor line signal, etc.

Well, I don’t really l\mind as I don’t plan to use it as a phone.

Anyway, Celcom is forcing us to sign up for a broadband plan but I am not going to do that because I already have one. If they force, well, I could even save on my bill!

Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO Going Free

Lately, a number of “massively multiplayer” online games (MMOs) are dropping their monthly subscription fees and so players are able to play these games for free. Money is made through selling premium content or virtual items in-game, to boost up the characters that one holds.

This follows the footsteps of the type of games we play on Facebook, where there ARE people who do not mind spending money, real money, in exchange for virtual money.

Do you think this model would be successful? Many games on Facebook that adopted this model from the start haven’t been doing so well. Moreover, those games were not as expensive to develop. What do you think?

Google To Kill Off 5 Products

Google has announced that they are going to kill off five products in due time and they are:

iGoogle
Google Mini
Google Talk Chatback
Google Video
Symbian Search App

According to Google, these products are no longer relevant, or have underperformed. Obviously, it is a difficult decision to make to remove products, but it is more difficult for the users, who would have to back up their data, or look for a similar product to use.

If you are using any of these five products, better start looking for alternatives.

Samsung Galaxy SIII

Samsung Galaxy SIII is currently the phone to have. Even my father wants it after reading reviews about it online. As for me, I am not keen because I already have a touch screen phone… and in fact, I still very much prefer my older QWERTY phone which I could use to type long text faster.

A friend in Bangkok told me that the waiting list for the Samsung Galaxy SIII is a month in Bangkok. I wonder how long the waiting list is in Kuala Lumpur. Do you know?

I don’t remember how long one had to wait for the first Apple iPad…I guess it wasn’t even as long as the Samsung Galaxy SIII in Bangkok! What do you think?

Addictive ‘Draw Something’ App

A lot of my friends are addicted to this new app called ‘Draw Something’. It’s available on Apple and Android devices, so my friends who have smart phones and tablets are all hooked to it.

Apparently, the app has already hit 20 million downloads only after five weeks since its release. That’s faster than even Angry Birds.

I have been urged by friends to download it because it is ‘so fun!’ but I have yet to succumb to the temptation. I dare not. I would get hooked! Are you playing it already?

Apple’s New iPad Delayed By 3 Days

The new iPad by Apple, I’d rather call it “iPad 3” will be delayed by three days. Those who pre-ordered online, at first were told that they will be receiving their devices this Friday, will instead receive them next Monday. The reason given was that demand for the new iPad has been off the charts. They didn’t expect this?

Anyway, an extra three day wait will seem like an eternity to all Apple fan boys and girls. Luckily I am not one of them. I don’t really like that the new iPad is thicker, bulkier and heavier!
