Get Comfy With Proper Computer Furniture

I am sure that all of us internet junkies are spending way too m much time online. DO you have proper furniture for your computer? A friend of mine only lately bought computer furniture that included a desk and office chair. She says that now she is drawing so much money online, she should set up a mini office at home.

Actually, I have always had a small working corner for myself even during school days. I remember my parents spending a considerable amount of money buying school computer furniture for each of us. With three children, that is not a joke but they wanted us to have a proper work place. Now that I am an adult, I still have a corner in my room for serious work, thanks to my upbringing.

If you do not have a work corner at home, then you should set it up. I guarantee that you will be more productive with your work.

EarthFrisk – Social Bookmarking, Networking & Media Hub

Have you heard of EarthFrisk yet? If you haven’t, then you just have to check out this new global social bookmarking, social networking and social media portal. It’s a feature rich site where we get to meet people who may share our interest.

To drive membership count and activities, EarthFrisk is currently running a fabulous contest where there will be cash and other great prizes up for grabs. I am not going to let you know what you will stand to win but I will just say that to win that four-digit cash prize is not that difficult. Head over to the CONTEST page to read and participate! Oh yes, don’t worry, participation in these contests is free. What you need to win is just a little time and “work”.

EarthFrisk also provides widgets where you can place on your website or blog so that your readers get to share the on-goings of the EarthFrisk community. The difference between EarthFrisk widgets and widgets from other sites is that we could create our very own widget with our own sources.

What I am going to do is to create one that features new posts from all my blogs. That would be great for cross promoting my blogs. You too should take advantage of this great feature!

Please Slap Me!

With the treatment Goog gave me and many of my fellow bloggers, I still could not help myself but use Google Search. Cheh, I thought I promised myself to use Yahoo! Search more. Yahoo! has always been kind to me and indexed so many of my pages and also gave me number positions for my keywords irrespective of whether the posts were sponsored or not.

I read that many of my similarly affected fellow bloggers have switched search engines and some even pulled off AdSense from their blogs and websites. It’s not uncommon to hear that some people were not even able to draw their first check two long years after implementing AdSense on their sites.

Some even went as far as dumping Goog shares but of course it wouldn’t make a difference to the price at all! Of all the measures taken, I have yet to hear of people dumping their Gmail accounts though! I have three Gmail accounts and cannot migrate from my accounts lol

Improve PR With Online Directory Submissions

Forgive me if I keep harping on and on about losing my Page Rank. You would be doing the same thing too if you lost two ranks for every blog that you have, like what happened to me. Talks about being penalized for selling links do not hold water because my friends are down by one rank even though they do not sell links. Heck, they don’t even have any advertisement on their site. Perhaps they should implement AdSense?

This morning, I discovered this website called PageRankSubmit.com. What they do is to help us submit our URL to a hundred web directories that have at least a Page Rank of 5. These are free directories but PageRankSubmit is charging a very reasonable $29 for “labor” because they are doing it manually. Manual submission means that each submission is valid and will not return an error.

Honestly, I am desperate for my Page Rank to move higher after the recent demotion. $29 is a great price even though I have more than ten links to submit. Just for your information, $29 is already discounted. I understand that they used to charge $39 per link.

I have actually known all along that directory submissions would help my Page Rank but I never got around to it because I was too busy blogging. If $29 is only what it takes to free up my time so that I do not have to do it myself, I am prepared to pay it.

What about you?

Is Friendster Still Relevant?

Most of my friends are already on Facebook and they tell me that it’s an addiction. I don’t know what they mean because I have not registered yet but I can do without the addiction, thank you very much.

Anyway, this morning, I received an email on Friendster Friend Update and was surprised that a lot of my friends are still active there with new friends added, new comments received, joined groups, became a fan (this is something I never heard of), added new photos or simply updated their profile.

I am a Frienster member and hardly ever log into my account unless I have a private message through the site so I am surprised that with the many new social sites coming out hourly, Friendster is still very much relevant to my friends.

If you are a member of both, do you find yourself moving all you activities to Facebook? With the tremendous growth of Facebook, it looks like many people have migrated.

It’s Never Too Late To Study

A friend told me that I should get a tertiary education because although I have a job that does not depend on my level of education, it may still be helpful to improve myself while I still have time to myself. She said that once I am married or have kids, then it would be a thousand times more difficult. I do know what she means and appreciate her advice. I thought I’d go to a college nearby for convenience sake but I don’t relish the thought of being the oldest student in class.

My friend said that I’m just thinking too much and there are plenty of adult students pursuing their tertiary education. According to her, capella university, a full accredited online university has more than twenty thousand students from around the world. If they can juggle so many things in life AND their studies, why can’t I?

Good question!

Capella University offers a full range of certificate, undergraduate and graduate programs and there should be something that I have a passion for. I am glad that I have the option to study online thanks to the advancement of technology.

Custom Blog Design

If you have been following my blogs, you would know that I recently changed the theme and am also looking for another WordPress theme for my new blog. I have already been to almost all sites that offer free WordPress designs but could not find anything that I like. Call me a fuss-pot but I have uploaded more than twenty designs to my server but none of them impressed me. My friend chided me that since I am so fussy, I’d only be satisfied with a Custom Blog Design and I think he may be spot on!

Coincidentally, today I was introduced to Mediawick, a company that offers web design services in particular for Word Press blogs. For the time being, they are offering a custom WordPress blog design for $300 each only. I think that this is a very reasonable price!

I checked out the portfolio of Mediawick Digital Solutions and am impressed with their design ideas. The one I love most is Mediawick Orange. Although right now, these designs are not “perfect” to me, the very idea of a custom design is where the client will always be opened for suggestions and changes.

Besides custom design of WordPress blog themes, Mediawick is also available for website and other kinds of design.
