Blogger Timestamp Glitch

Blogger had an issue with their timestamp last evening until this morning, for almost more than twelve hours. I was not alone but with three active Blogger “beta” blogs that I tested, only one was affected.

I did a search on the internet and although some Blogger users also had the same problem, some had it worse than others in the sense that while I was able to manually input the current date and time just before publishing my post and I do not publish my post in advance, someone was thrown an error message with the dreaded bX-code when he tried to manually adjust the timestamp. Boy, was I glad that my issue was not as serious or I would have popped a vein!

Anyway, I was glad that later in the morning, everything was fine with my affected Blogger blog and I could publish my post normally. Phew!

One thing about using Blogger blogs, even though I have been facing more glitches recently that all the years that I have started my Blogger blogs, is that should a problem crop up, we just have to report it and sit tight and be patient unlike self-hosted blogs, where we have to sweat bullets trying to fix whatever glitch or beg people in the know to help out!

Follow A Blogger Blog

Blogger will soon be rolling out a Follow feature, which is like a little widget that shows off small images of your visitors. I hate that. When you come visit me, you can be sure that I will not have that widget on my blog (unless I am paid to put it up). LOL

This is because I hate to subject this on people who, like me, do not like it to be known that I have visited such and such a blog. I do not see the benefit of it except to quench our own curiosity of who among our blog friends came and read our blog.

I remember saying to a friend that her blog follower widget was breaking up her layout. I told her that she should remove it since it serves no purpose. She said that she wants to keep it because she would like to know who dropped by. DUH.

Anyway, no matter how popular such follow widgets get, I am adamant that I will not use it. I would like to maintain my privacy and I will accord this to my blog readers.

Losing the Essence As A Blogger

There’s a blog in the local blogosphere which compensates people for posting comments on the blog. If you have read this blog a couple of months ago, I am sure you will know which blog I am referring to.

The thing is, I believe this blogger uses Public Label Rights (PLR) articles to fill up his blog to add content and gain traffic. Well, that is not wrong but I have been following this particular blog since his first post, I know how this blogger writes and his grasp of the English language. When he subsequently added in PLR posts, one could easily read the difference in presentation and even the better command of the English language.

I personally feel that to garner popularity for his blog, this blogger has lost his essence as a blogger and killed his blog in the process. Of course, he could revive it if he continues to write blog posts in his own style.

Frankly, I do not enjoy reading those PLR posts even though they were written in excellent English. If I wanted to read those posts, I could always go to article sites and read from there, and not go to a blog. When we read a blog, we want to get to know the blogger and read his personality from his posts and we cannot do tat with PLR articles, could we?

Unfriendly Blogger Labels

The labeling system of Blogger has got to be one of the most un-user-friendly features of Blogger. It seems like the more they add to Blogger, the worse it gets. I know that labeling has been around for a long time now but then when you spent hours labeling your old posts, the flaws become just too obvious.

If you remember, I spent some time recently labeling my old posts on my WordPress blogs and also Blogger blogs. It took me more than twice the time required to label the same number of posts.

Not only that. After labeling, I had to go over them because there would be wrong labeling without comma hence making two labels into one. And this is only one minor issue. Bah… it’s a waste of time but had to be done. Too bad it can’t be friendlier!
