Bring Back The Previous Facebook Layout!

Facebook has once again changed to a new layout. Maybe people say this is a copy of Twitter but I do not see the similarities. Seriously! However, while there are people who like this new layout, there are also people who dislike it. I am unfortunately I am in the group of people who prefer the previous layout.

You see, I am not someone who does not accept change. Previously, when Facebook changed their layout to the just changed layout, I was actually very receptive of it and preferred it over the original layout. This one, though, isn’t user-friendly at all. I keep missing my notices and pokes. I miss the live feed where I could check what’s happening with everyone on my contact list under one page.

I don’t know why Facebook needs to make this change when there was nothing wrong with the previous one. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, don’t they know it? Moreover, why must they copy Twitter, if at all the new Facebook layout looks like Twitter, though once again, I stress, I do not see the similarities, and yes, I do Twitter as well so I KNOW.

YouTube View Spammers

Those of us who use YouTube with the aim of monetizing our videos in the future are working hard towards building video views, subscribers and friends. However, like all systems, there will always be people trying to game it.

I read on Web Pro News today that there are YouTube users who try to fake their view counts. I am sure we all know that the view count could be very funny at times, even if the numbers are real. Like the case of funtwo, his video receives the highest views of all time on YouTube but the video isn’t even published in his own account. The one in this account only received 40k views instead. Don’t you think that YouTube should delete the video from the other person’s account and give the millions of views to funtwo’s account?

Anyway, YouTube is starting to clean up all these view spam so that videos will show the true view count. Hhmm I hope there will be no changes in the view count of my videos because I gained the legitimately!

Aaron Greenspan Wins Suit Against Google AdSense

A couple of days ago, I was telling a friend that many AdSense publishers have been complaining of a drop in revenue and I wanted to know if he had made any from the Eli Wong nude photo case.

He told me that his AdSense account has been terminated due to click fraud and that he noticed about 30 extra clicks per day prior to being informed that his account had been terminated. This is clearly sabotage, I think.

I asked him if he made an appeal because I read that we could fight the decision if we really didn’t commit click fraud and Google will reinstate the account if found to be a mistake.

My friend says that he couldn’t be bothered because he doesn’t want to seem like he’s begging and that he could still survive without AdSense. To me, this isn’t begging or that he will die without the revenue. It’s a matter of justice but he doesn’t look at it this way. Oh, well!

Offline Gmail

bout ten days ago, I read on the Gmail blog that the developers have come out with a feature that allows Gmail users to read Gmail messages, reply to them, star, label, delete and everything that we do to our email while online, to do all these offline.

I think this is pretty exciting times because not everyone has an internet connection 24/7 and even though I AM usually connected 24/7, there are also times when my connection is down. I opted to try out this feature once it appeared in my Gmail Labs. So far, I don’t have much of a chance to use it because I am not travelling but I can see that it is pretty promising.

However, I don’t think that this is safe enough to use on public computers. I don’t know about you but I don’t relish the thought of people accessing my email on a public computer if I failed to clear the cache of the computer, either because I forgot, because there was a glitch that caused some remnants or for whatever other reasons.

Real Friends Vs. Online Friends

I read with amusement a recent study which was conducted on Facebook users which showed that Facebookers had an average of 100 contacts on their friend list but only keep in regular contact with a handful.

This study showed that for men who have 500 friends, they would only keep in touch with ten while women will keep in touch with 16 out of the 500 friends. For men who have 120 friends, they would only keep in touch with four while women keep in touch with six.

Well, growing up with the internet, of course I have made many friends online but some remain just Facebook friends, or whatever website, message board or social community network I fancied.

Some on the other hand, became good friends. So obviously we are not expected to be close to everyone on our list, right?

One-Click Website Creator

When I decided to build a charity website last year, it was more difficult than I thought. Of course I knew that building a website is different from building blogs but I didn’t even know where to start!

I asked many friends; well, I thought there were friends. A few were helpful but most asked me to check on the web. That got me angry because if I knew where to look, I wouldn’t have asked. Frankly, I didn’t know how to create website even though I read through the instructions a few times. I am just not technical minded at all!

Just now, I was recommended this awesome point & click, drag & drop website creator from BlueVoda that was made with the noob webmaster in mind. I love it that they have ready templates, logos, icons, graphics and many other freebies that we could use as we build our website and the best thing is that we do not need to know HTML or have experience with CSS.

For such awesome one-click website publishing software, I was thinking that it must be very expensive but I was wrong. This looks like freeware but the only catch is that we need to have a hosting account with BlueVoda in order to successfully publish our website.

Happy 14th Birthday To Yahoo!

Wow, how time just seems to fly by. I remember when Yahoo! first made its way into the mouths of everyone. That was back in 1995. In fact, Yahoo! Mail was my first web mail account and I was a chronic Yahoo! Chat user. I used to play Yahoo! Games and found that the site was a whole lot friendly than MSN Games.

Till today, even when I don’t use Yahoo! so much anymore, particularly its search engine and no longer have time to play games, I still am maintaining my old Yahoo! Mail account and in fact, created two other @ymail.com accounts.

The other product of Yahoo! that I continue to use today is Yahoo! Messenger. Although a lot of my friends were quick to hop over to MSN, I still stuck with YM and those who wanted to chat with me had to install YM as well.
