Real Friends Vs. Online Friends

I read with amusement a recent study which was conducted on Facebook users which showed that Facebookers had an average of 100 contacts on their friend list but only keep in regular contact with a handful.

This study showed that for men who have 500 friends, they would only keep in touch with ten while women will keep in touch with 16 out of the 500 friends. For men who have 120 friends, they would only keep in touch with four while women keep in touch with six.

Well, growing up with the internet, of course I have made many friends online but some remain just Facebook friends, or whatever website, message board or social community network I fancied.

Some on the other hand, became good friends. So obviously we are not expected to be close to everyone on our list, right?
