Need a Decision On My Passion Blogs

If you know me, you will know that a have a few passion blogs. Well, they are hosted on Blogger. I have been thinking that since I am “so free” (/sarcasm) lately, I would like to move the blogs to my own hosted blogs. I even solicited free hosting from friends. All I need now is to come up with good domain names that reflect the kind of blogs that I have.

But then I wonder if I would be able to go through the whole process over again with starting a new blog from buying a domain, installing WordPress, looking for a suitable theme, customizing it, filing up the blog with great content and building traffic and readership.

At first, I thought of moving my existing content to my new domain but wonder if that would cause me to have duplicated content. Even if I deleted that blog, my pages would still be in the cache of search engines. So how??

Haihhh so many decisions to make!

No I.C.

Hah… this is a local joke that non-Malaysians probably would not understand. Suddenly I feel like writing in Malay. It has been just a long time since I used it’s rusty already. Anyway, really I.C. the way P-Rs of blogs continue to fall even today. What round is it now? Is it sixth since early October?

It’s kinda ironic that in the beginning of the year, everyone could not wait getting a little green on their toolbar and now that there’s a little movement but with negative impact! Eeekkk!!!

Real Rank is great in an ideal world but then when you are competing for opps against other bloggers who are gaming the system, you will eventually be left with nothing.

So if you are thinking of starting a blog now, I think you are better of getting a real job than blogging! The good times are over!

I’m Not A Food Blogger

It’s kinda weird that unlike other bloggers who would capture photos of whatever “good food” they ordered, I always forget despite carrying a camera and a camera phone with me. I know that if food bloggers missed the chance of taking shots of their dishes, that would be like they have committed a sin or something 😀

Although I do would like to take photos of my dishes as well, like yesterday’s curry laksa and fried rice, both signature dishes, I only remembered after digging in and by then it’s too late because the food arrangement has been spoilt. Bah!

Then there are times that I am with non-bloggers and they would certainly never understand the “need” to shoot those food pix before they are allowed to dig in. Haha!

Talking about food, I need to go on diet now! I’ve heard one too many times people commenting, “Yerrrr, so fat already!” Hahaha!

Friends Through Blogs

When I first started blogging almost two years ago, only one of my friends had a blog. He has since passed away, unfortunately, but I started blogging because of him.

Anyway, two years is a long time in internet-speak and guess what? Now, almost all my friends are bloggers! I would be hard pressed to look for a friend who does not own a blog and like I said in a previous post, my friends not only have a blog or two but more than ten!

One thing that surprised me was that yesterday, a blogger friend of mine dropped by my blog to wish me Happy Birthday. I haven’t even met him before but he was one of my early readers. I was surprised because he still remembers even though we did not chat with each other on messenger for the longest time already. Yes, I know, my fault!

So, the surprise made me happy even though my blog friends whom I have never met before are not “friends” in the true sense of the word.

Hitting The Right Keywords

It is funny that in the course of normal blogging, we sometimes write on a subject that suddenly everyone wants to know about. They do a search on the internet and come to your blog. I have this happened twice on different blogs. Now, I am not even talking about purposely writing about a sensational rape-cum-murder case or the talk of the century wedding of a superstar but something that we wrote before it even happened.

Of course, there are traffic from other organic searches as well but these two times, the traffic has been phenomenal and when I first noticed the spike in traffic from search engines for these keywords, I wondered, “Did something happen that I do not know about? How come the whole world wants to know about this person/issue/etc.?”

Haha of course I am not so dump to disclose what keywords they are otherwise you steal my traffic leh… how can, man? 😀 But then the internet is so fluid the keywords may be hot for a day, a month or even a year and nobody could tell.

What we could do is just continue blogging and hope to hit the jackpot once again! Yes, I get my kicks out of this!

Blogging Tergendala

Since yesterday morning when I laid my hands on my new iPhone, I have been searching all over the internet trying to make it work. It’s a very stunning phone and a form factor that no mobile device ever had so far. I am sure every one would go “Whoa” when they see one. However, I hope that I won’t smash it first for being un-cooperative.

I will be writing a post on my iPhone soon after I have gotten it to work because right now, I am not as enthusiastic as I would have been towards a fully-functional iPhone.

So, if you know me, you will know that I always get myself obsessed over something and this time, making the iPhone work is top priority. Blogging takes a back seat and it’s about time too!

Regular blogging will return once I have found the key to the iPhone!

Guest Blogger

Recently, I have been reading quite a few great articles on building traffic to my blogs. I have to admit that with a slew of blogs, I am left with no time to network and build my readership. One can only do so much within 24 hours a day, right?

One of the methods to build your readership is by being a guest author of a more established blog. It’s kinda funny that if you are this small blogger, do you think that established bloggers would want you as a guest? I have a couple of friends who are prominent bloggers locally but they never offered a spot for me because they are afraid that I will pollute their blogs. Haha!

I think coincidentally, John Chow recently wrote a post about building traffic via guest blogging too.

Well, guess what? This morning, I was offered a guest spot on a more established blog (than mine) and of course I would love to take up but I wonder what I should write about and if my piece(s) would be well accepted. You know, I would like to think that I could write about anything and everything but the truth may be far from it. Hahah!
