Have You Heard of KissCafe?

I was introduced to KissCafe last week. People tell me that since I am single and am online for such long hours daily, I might as well get some free dating online.

I don’t really like to socialize in online dating portals mainly because one never know what kind of people are behind a rosy profile. Moreover, I am never good at making introductions or worse, describing myself, which is standard procedure in online socializing. Bah!

Anyway, my friend told me to just check the site out and so I agreed. First of all, I just have to say that I love KissCafe’s logo. Just take a look!!

I found that KissCafe is a free online dating portal that is open to the world. Most of the dating portals that I have come across were mostly for a certain community or other and it is not easy to find a partner.

KissCafe’s membership base is wide and far-reaching though, so it is as if you can find anyone in your local area. Perhaps it is because of this that they are launching new languages for the website.

Members on KissCafe all look like decent people just trying to expand their social circle. You wouldn’t want to know some other sites that been through that it is an embarrassment to just browse through their picture profiles!

KissCafe makes sure that members’ privacy is protected and everyone is accorded security and control over their own dating experience. If I were to join a dating site, KissCafe would be my choice because I would have all the full features of other dating sites, but I do not have to fork out a penny! It’s free!

Introducing SpyShakers

Although I have two computers at home, I do sometimes still use computers that are not my own, especially when I am away for long hours, I have to get online either at the cyber cafe, at the homes of friends or relatives. I am never comfortable using a stranger’s computer because for one, I have to remember the web addresses that I frequent plus worry that my log in IDs and passwords will be stolen with screen capture devices or keyloggers.

I thought that I would have to “live on the edge” until I get my own laptop but my friend told me there is a new website called SpyShakers that has a webtool to shake off spies no matter from whose computer we access the internet.

SpyShakers is said to work best with FireFox with the Sidebar tool which resides on BOOKMARKS. Well, once you are on a computer, just access your Sidebar, log in to your SpyShakers account and then visit your favorite links from the Sidebar. Your log in ID and password for your list of favorite websites will be there so that you can drag and drop the data into the log in page. Keyloggers won’t work because you aren’t even typing!

It’s great that I can use this service for free whenever I am away from my own computer. It gives me the much needed peace of mind, you know?

LifeLines Family Services

Since writing about troubled teens, a friend told me that I should write about LifeLines Family Services – Education Consultants For Troubled Teens which he and his wife have found effective for their struggling son.

LifeLines Family Services represents youth programs and assist families in matching the youth with the most suitable program. I always believe that if the parents are not able to handle their teenager, then let the professionals do it.

Youth programs are headed by people who have come across all kinds of teen behavior as no two teens are the same. By joining the correct youth program, a troubled teen can gain new perspective, self-awareness, good habits and survival tool and set new goals for themselves.

I believe that all children are born good. It is the choices that were made along the way that have turned them to how they have become. LifeLines Family Services strive to help teenagers like these turn over a new leaf by assisting family from the very first step including application to arranging for financial assistance and transportation.

Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation

I believe most of us have heard of Mary Kay. It is a very popular brand name for beauty products in the United States, although I am not sure if this brand is available in Malaysia or not. Living in the backwaters is no help!

Mary Kay Ash, the founder of Mary Kay, started a charitable foundation aptly named Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, in 1996. She championed causes that affects women, particularly cancer that afflicts women and domestic violence.

Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation has a website which I have just browsed through. They invite cash contributions; cash is the most practical, anyway. What I like about their donation drive is that they allow contributions on behalf, which means that we can make a contribution to the foundation in memory or in honour of someone. This is a great way to help someone to lessen the effects of karma.

New Media Marketplace

I have a friend who works in the media line and he told me the good news that he now can put his video content in front of media distribution professionals. The launch of IPEX TV, a unique concept of B2B ecommerce marketplace exclusively enables buyers and sellers of multi platform video programs to trade in a conducive environment.

I was surprised at the evolving DVD distribution market because these video content not only serves the traditional television market as we know it but also the ever increasingly popular portable device, cellular phone and internet markets.

IPEX TV allows both producers and distributors of video content to communicate directly have access to each other. Media producers showcase their work online and professional media distributors are able to browse through the video trailers, according to genre or search by keywords.

My friend is excited that he now has the chance to showcase his work to the world should his video be picked by a professional distributor. What a great media marketplace this is!

Send Your Blog To Space

Sometime back, I came across this website which enables you to transmit your blog to space. Can you imagine aliens reading your blog? Well, frankly, I can’t!

It seems that we have been transmitting TV signals to space and now, Blog In Space is taking things one step further. Through Blog In Space, it seems anyone can send a one-time message into space.

I’m technically-challenged so I don’t really know how this works, but if you want to transmit your blog to space, you just have to provide your URL and/or feed URL.

I did not transmit my blogs to space, though. Don’t think aliens would be interested in my thoughts. If you know how it is even possible to transmit blogs to space, let me know!

Internet Software Security Comparison Site

After reading my post, Hanging Computer, my friend was concerned that my internet security may have been breached. I told him that I do have firewall and anti-virus installed, but maybe it is because I am using the free version. How else could I explain the Trojan that was detected on my computer and causing it to freeze after my computer was connected to the internet for twenty four hours?

My friend told me about FilterGuide.com, a comparison website for major internet utilities and programs like anti-virus, firewall, spyware detection, parental control software, anti-spam filters and many more.

I was aghast to note that my free firewall and anti-virus programs were not even listed, let alone rated! I think I better change to one of the top rated programs for better internet security protection!
