Research On Loans

When my sister bought her home a year ago, she acted too quickly and did not do enough research on the various home loans and the many lenders that provide them. She said that if she does not sign for her house, she would have second thoughts about taking on a thirty year commitment and would chicken out. However, after signing for it and checking with her friends who also bought houses around the same time, my sister realized that she is paying a little more than necessary every month.

Right now, my sister is once again looking for a lender who would be able to offer her a better rate. She is doing her research at LoanNetwork.com which has a website at http://www.loannetwork.com. From this one website, she would be able to compare mortgage rates from top lenders. She could also request for custom mortgage quotes from four different lenders. This means that she would have time to study each quote, compare them and evaluate which lender is giving her the most benefit in the long term.

Requesting for a custom mortgage quote is very simple and does not even require us to provide out Social Security number. I think they know that many people, like my sister, are not comfortable disclosing it online. However, the information that we would have to provide to obtain this free custom mortgage quotation would be the type of loan that we are seeking, the type of property that this loan is for and the location.

Apart from this, LoanNetwork.com is also an informative and resourceful site for anyone who is shopping for a loan. There are many articles here for reading if we could spare the time.

If my sister still could not find a mortgage with better rates with so much resources at her hands then I don’t know what to say!

Thumbs Up To TM

Earlier this week, my Streamyx broadband connection was down for 24 hours. Actually, it was not Streamyx that was down, my hardware was fine but the problem was from the telephony exchange. The weird thing was that I could still use my phone line to receive and make outgoing calls. That was why I did not suspect that the issue was from there until I called up Streamyx customer service to check my line condition and had my hardware checked at the computer repair shop.

Anyway, everything was fine after 24 hours. A day later, the admin staff from TM called me up and asked me if everything is OK at my end and if I still had issues with my connection. I told her that all is well now so that she could close my report.

I think that is a good way to follow up on a report. Let’s not talk about the 24 hours when I supposedly do not have access to the internet or how much money I supposedly earn less but then sometimes shit happens and I was never as glad to have my 3G connection as back up.

For Poker Lovers

A good friend told me that given my obsession with Poker, he would have to get me custom ceramic poker chips for Christmas. I have been obsessed (I admit) and trying to learn the game but nobody would teach me, since watching a Korean drama about a professional gambler. I think that life is a gamble, anyway!

I told him not to bother and that it’s the thought that count when it comes to gift giving but his idea got me all curious and I wondered if there is a company who could make custom poker chips. Can you imagine playing Poker with chips that you have designed yourself or carry your special “trademark”?

I was told to check out this URL http://www.e-pokerchips.com/custom-ceramic-poker-chips.html where this company, ePokerChips offers two types of “true casino” ceramic poker chips, one is a full custom design while the other is a semi-custom design. Both will come in full color graphic.

I find it a very innovative idea to custom design Poker chips and the reason they are able to accommodate just about any design that we can come up with is because these ceramic chips are handmade. WOW I am impressed and I think that if someone takes the trouble to design a Poker chip as a gift and not for commercial reasons it would make a very meaningful gift.

Kawan Aku – My Friend

Here’s a website that I have been a member of for years. Unfortunately, although it is like the Malaysian version of Classmates.com, it never kicked off at all. Out of the many students in my class, there are only about fifteen who are registered with the site. Imagine, few hundred students and only fifteen? They could do better.

That’s why lah… never advertise! LOLOLO

Anyways, I was reminded of it (I do not log in at all unless there is a new member signed up who is from my class) this morning when someone from my class registered with the site. HHmm unfortunately her name is not someone I recognise at all. Too bad :(

Although out of these fifteen students, a few were good friends with me, I did not contact them even though most of us included our email address in our profile. It would be awkward to contact them after all these years. I mean, is there anything to talk about at all??

Spock.com – The Real People Search Engine

This morning, my friend sent me a message and referred me to “Ipoh leng lui” (beautiful girl from Ipoh). I told him that it is a myth that Ipoh girls are prettier than girls from other states and those who said so did not live here long enough to see the ugly ones.

That gave me an idea to search on Spock to see if there are Ipoh girls there. I have used Spock.com – A Great Place for Search a couple of times and if memory serves me right, we used to have to register with Spock before we could get the code to embed on our blog or website.

What’s so great about Spock is that we re able to search for people based on tags or descriptions or based on their occupation, name or even location. This morning, I decided to look for “Ipoh girls”.

This is the widget for “Ipoh girls

What makes Spock different is that Spock tries to centralize a person on Spock by linking all our profiles from other social network sites like Friendster, MySpace, LinkedIn, hi5, Multiply and other webpages.

I registered with Spock and am surprised that this search engine managed to pull in my profiles from other sites accurately. However, out of the eight webpages that were linked to my name, only about two are about me. Another great feature is that with these webpages linked to me, I could vote to confirm their accuracy or to have them removed from my Spock profile. I could even ADD other webpages to my profile too. Tell me this is not different from all the social network sites that are around now.

If you are not yet already registered with Spock, I urge you to do so early to claim your spot on Spock and your profiles that are scattered all over the web. I admit that I did at first have reservations about putting personal information on a public domain but I soon learnt that we can control what we want to make public so I decided to register with Spock with my real name. I think that in the future, Spock would be like an online profile directory of real people, like what Yellow Pages is for businesses.

Spam Hits My Gmail

Did you notice that spam mail has hit Gmail lately? It used to be Gmail is so clean I would not even get two spam mail in Gmail for A WEEK! Now, if I do not log into my account, I would be seeing more than ten spam mail in my account. I do not log into my account because I check my mail through my mobile device.

I have four Gmail accounts and this trend is happening to three of my active accounts while the other one, which I do not use, is still clean. The thing is, these are personal accounts and I do not use them to sign up with any mailing lists or whatever, and yet I get all these spam mail.

Perhaps like spammers who spammed my Yahoo! Mail, they generate random English words as the user ID of email addresses. Ugh… I’m wasting time just deleting spam!

Win Serious Cash With Trivia Knowledge

The other day, I wrote a post about donating rice with our vocabulary. I recall a website that a friend recommended to me a couple of months ago where we can win serious cash just by using our knowledge on general trivia, music and movie trivia, sports and entertainment.

Actually, I knew about this site when it was newly launched but somehow I have forgotten about it and I really feel like kicking myself for all the lost opportunities when I could have played and WON! Yes, I am that confident of my trivia knowledge!

Just now, I accessed the website again and noted that a member was the lucky jackpot winner twice within thirty days. Wow, he must be amazing with trivia! Trivia On Net, whose website is at http://www.TriviaOnNet.com is the leading online multiplayer trivia tournaments and host too.

The good news is that membership is free and we are even paid $5 bonus. Upon our first top up, we will be given 25% extra as bonus. I have been told that with this money, the good players get to multiple their capital at a tremendous rate.

Unfortunately for me, the jackpots are only open to Americans and that also only for residents of certain states. This is due to the differences in state law. However, for international members and others who were unable to play for cash can still play the free games and join the community.
