Jewelry For Valentine’s Day

A few days ago, I was at a shopping mall where there was a Chinese opera performance. I was on the first floor watching the show that was on the ground floor. In front of the stage, there was a diamond jewelry store that had set up shop. They do have a proper store but since it was Chinese New Year and they expect the crowd to be in the concourse area, they also rented space there to exhibit their jewelry.

So I was on the first floor looking down and was rather surprised that there are people who would buy jewelry. I am sure you know that Ipoh folks are well known for their stinginess but I guess when it comes to jewelry for Valentine’s Day, they are willing to pay for it since it is a once a year affair.

This jeweler is well known for their range of Tiffany jewelry but I also noticed from their brochure that they also do sell cheap CZ jewelry. I guess there is a market for any kind of jewelry from different segments of society.

I wonder if anyone would be giving me my favorite sterling silver jewelry this Valentine’s Day. It’s tomorrow and my ESP is not picking up any signals!

How Many Edison Chens Are There?

If you remember from months back, I wrote about discovering about Spock.com and how this website allows us to claim all our online profiles and placing them on our Spock.com profile. If you are active in social network portals and have one too many social profile, just like yours truly, I am sure you will appreciate the ability to claim your profiles and email addresses so that people can search for you when they use Spock at http://www.spock.com, a free service.

Once you have claimed your profile, you can upload your photos and add tags that best describe you like physical attributes, geographical location, school or profession.

I know that Spock.com also pulls in profiles of celebrities and stars from Wikipedia so whoever is on Wikipedia will also be on Spock.com with additional information.

If you are a Spocker, you will know that you can actually find any actor singer on Spock.com so this morning, I decided to see how many people are named Edison Chen. You know that the Hong Kong celebrity named Edison Chen is embroiled in a sex scandal right now, don’t you? Heh… I really pity the guys who share the same name.

Let’s see….

Of course, in this widget, there are many results of the REAL Edison Chen celebrity and there are other people who are only named Edison Chen. I think we should add the tag “Playboy” to THE Edison Chen to separate him from the rest of the “normal” guys. What do you think? HAHA!

RM88 Angpow From Advertlets

You know how I love to participate in contests. This morning, while checking my Advertlets earning, I came across their latest blog post where they are giving RM88 angpow to the first eight people to answer these questions correctly.

1. Advertlets has a new ad campaign for a new client that will run in multiple countries. Guess how many countries will it be running in?

2. February 14 is a significant date. As I am single this year, what will me and the Advertlets team most likely be spending the next few late nights working on, and announcing/launching on Feb 14? Hint: Most relationships are based on one person and how many parties?

3. When was Advertlets founded, and what will we most likely launch on our first anniversary?

HHmmm I love contests that are based on luck but this is really out of my depth. I mean, HOW would we know how many countries an ad campaign is being run in, unless we are working with them, right?

This is a total guessing game which I think surely there will be people winning since there are PEOPLE working in Advertlets and these people surely have friends who are bloggers. Bah… Don’t want to join lah, unless somebody can leave me the answers via Comment in time for me to be the first eight bloggers with the correct answers.

Fast Quality Photo Prints

Since owning an Apple iPhone, I have been crazy snapping photos. OIn fact, if you know of my other blog, you will see that I have published so many photos and those are just part of what I have in my computer! The other day, my computer crashed but luckily I managed to salvage all my files. Howoever, that event reminded me that i should get the important photos printed and not only keep a digital copy.

Just now, I was told of a website that provides quality photo prints are really affordable prices at only $0.09 for 4X6″ glossy or matte prints. From what I understand, this is a promotion rate where we also have to purchase a $25 print card to qualify for $0.09 prints.

If you check the website, you will notice that it is a very simple site where we do not even have to register to place a printing order. Just upload the photos from your computer and select the photo size and type that you require and the quantity you want. I think that from the many photo printing sites that I have visited prior to this, QualityPhotoPrints, Inc. is one of the handful that are able to offer fast and simple prints.

I love the fact that they are using Kodak paper and from what I understand, Kodak offers lifetime warranty on prints. I wonder if this applies at QualityPhotoPrints too.

“Have You Seen The Photos Yet?”

Haha that is the first question people now ask one another whether in real life or on the messengers! I find it so funny. And is there still anyone who has yet to see the photos? And I mean the new Edison Chen sex photos? I tell you, the while most of us don’t find the photos that hot, one guy told me that he could wank with them. Ekkk…

To me, even Edison Chen sex scandal photos, old or new, are stale already. When are we going to get to watch the Maggi Q videos leh??? It has been promised t us a long time ago already loh! I checked YouTube also don’t have anything, except that there are people making MTVs of Edison Chen and I noticed that the setting in his bedroom is exactly the same as those in the sex photos wor… which means to say that those photos were taken in his bedroom.

Can anyone photoshop photos like that? I don’t think so.

So, ya, have you seen the photos yet? I am waiting for the third installment now!

Protecting Young Internet Users

I was very concerned when I learned that my 12-year old niece has subscribed to an internet broadband package. She lives with her grandmother, my aunt, an elderly lady who knows nothing about computers and internet. Last year, when my niece was given the computer, they did promise not to get connected to the internet until the girl is older.

So now that she is online, I am worried that she will fall prey to people who are older, pretending to be children her age and befriend her. I have read too many such cases. My aunt is also unable to monitor her online activities so I dare not tell her the reason why I thought that she should only get online when she is older.

I expressed my concern to a friend who has children and he told me that I have to install a program on her computer which will block websites with adult content, monitors chat conversations on social networking websites, prevents the transmission of private information over email, chat sessions and web forms.

All these could be handled by one program called Integard. I went to read further on this product on their website at http://www.raceriver.com and I am especially delighted to note that this program, once set up properly, could also send us an email to notify us of inappropriate internet activity. Moreover, I could also set up remote monitoring so that I know exactly what is happening with her limited online hours from my own computer at home or at work.

I think that this is an excellent product for people with young children, and even teenagers. Truly, one can never be too careful what with rampant internet predators prowling cyberspace.

Goodbye Celcom 3G, Hello Maxis 3G?

Just now Streamyx was down again for about two hours and it is not surprising that my Celcom 3G was down as well. I do know that they share the same backbone but then I thought that since my mobile line is with Celcom, it would be more convenient for me to go with Celcom 3G.

However, like what I experienced just now where both lines went down, having two lines served no purpose at all.

So I am contemplating moving my 3G subscription to Maxis. But it is easier said that done. I am tied to a post paid Celcom voice line that I have paid for a year in advance until June, 2008. And I must have a 3G line where I could log on to the internet via my mobile phone.

Does this mean that I have to get a Maxis voice and data package? If I take this package after June, 2008 when I am released from my bond, that means I would have to cancel my 019 number. I hope that by then we would be able to take along our number to whichever service provider we go to. Is it possible or is June, 2008 too near in the future?
