SiteMeter New Code

I was telling my friend about the extra work I had to do in completing the NuffNang survey and changing the new codes on my blogs over the weekend. I am just glad that I did not submit more blogs in my account.

My friend asked if I already know of SiteMeter’s revamp. Errrr nobody told me anything about it! Come to think of it, it has been months since I received their newsletter. One would have thought that information would be sent out for something as major as changing of code and adding new features. Or did Hotmail eat my newsletter AGAIN?

Anyway, I logged into my SiteMeter account and true enough, we are required to implement the new code. SIGH!!!! Extra work again. Although I do not use SiteMeter for my blogs, I use StatCounter for that, I use SiteMeter on my ecommerce store.

Gosh, imagine the hundreds of pages where I have to change the code for each and every page. Geee and I thought that there was a lot of work changing my NuffNang codes. Why can’t they continuing using the same code, or magically change the codes that have already been implemented in our websites or blogs?

Yerrrrrr lazy, really lazy to make the switch!

ETA: My friend just informed me that SiteMeter has decided to retain the old code after an uproar by users. Phew, luckily I did not start changing yet!

Watch Videos & Movie Downloads On Your TV

Last night, I went to PC Fair in Ipoh and I saw this really smart device that I would love to have, if only I have the time to watch movies. This is like a video player, except that you can just hook up your external drive to it and connect it to the TV and play whatever video or movie in any format that you have collected or downloaded from the web.

I remember a long time ago, when peer-to-peer was still new, we were all so amazed with the technology of sharing videos and movies over the internet. I am sure, whether legally or illegally, all of us have downloaded movies or large video files over the net before.

I still remember how we all struggled to convert these files; convert them into files that could be read by our DVD players and burn them into disks so that everyone in the family could enjoy the movies by watching on TV and not on the small computer screen.

But that’s all history already. Last night, I saw this device which is selling at only MYR317 which saves all the trouble and time of converting and burning. I love it that it could also render subtitle files and that is wonderful since I love watching Korean dramas and must watch with subtitles!

This smart device is something that I surely will buy when I have a little more time to spare to enjoy movies on TV. I think by then, the price would have dropped a little too! Goodie!

Jazz® Elite HI-Definition Digital Video Camera

If you have been following my blog, I am sure you would remember how I lament at the poor quality of my videos, made worse after uploading to YouTube. My friend discovered my videos on YouTube and asked me why I did not share them on my blog. How to share when the videos looked like they were shot underwater?

I have been thinking of buying a digital video camera for myself this Christmas. The one I am using, after all, is on loan and I should really return it to the owner which I will only do after buying one because I am quite addicted to video recording now, though the poor quality of my video recorder is disheartening and I am sure it is NOT user problem!

A couple of days ago, I came to know of this relatively cheap Jazz® Elite HI-Definition Digital Video Camera. I think that of all the digital video cameras that I have checked out these last two months, this is the most compact. I really love its design because I plan to take it everywhere I go so I really do not need something bulky. I already carry too many things as it is!

And yes, this will make a great Christmas present for me! And an opportune time to shoot some wonderful family Christmas moments too!

Nuffnang Survey For Better Targeted Blog Ads

It has been a long while since I logged into my Nuffnang account. I was so busy last week that I did not want any distraction but just put my head down to work. So, I lost touch a little with what was happening over there.

Anyway, today, being Saturday and a little quiet, I took the chance to check INNIT and by chance read their blog post about filling out a survey and changing the blog ad codes that we have placed in our templates.

With multiple blogs with them, I was a little annoyed because each blog requires its own survey answers. That’s understandable because each blog has its own readership, right? Anyway, I found it difficult to complete the survey because the page lagged big time. I think it would have helped if the page was totally plain without all the fancy stuff on the sidebar. I tell you, I kept clicking on the wrong radio button!

Anyway, I completed all surveys finally. The difficult part was in implementing new codes. It was fine with Blogger blogs since it was easy to locate my own codes. With WordPress blogs, though, I don’t even l know if I have missed out some pages because of the multiple codes that I use throughout the blog. On one hand, I may have missed out some old codes, on the other, I may have changed the code twice. Ughhh totally leceh. I don’t get that much from NuffNang, anyway.

Remember September 13 – 913

Those of you who are in Kuala Lumpur this evening and would like to show solidarity with yesterday’s ISA detainees, editor of Malaysia Today, Raja Petra (RPK), Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng and lawmaker from the coalition front, Teresa Kok, should participate in the peaceful candlelight vigils that are being organised, one in front of the DAP HQ in Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya at 7.30pm and one in front of the Bukit Aman police HQ in Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm.

The ISA has no place in modern society. Whether these three ISA detainees are in the right or wrong, ISA should never have been applied. A report on Malaysia Kini says that the journalist, Tan Hoon Cheng, may be released today. Come on, she should not have been arrested in the first place, right?

The horrible thing is that there is indication that more people would be detained under the ISA and I tell you, the scary thing is that if this could happen to them, this could happen to us. God help us.

Read & Research

My friends were chatting about online gaming and how exciting an industry it is. They are big time players but only during the weekends. It’s amazing how some of them could get off work on Friday evening, log into their account and play until early Monday morning and get to work again! From what I understand, they think of online gaming as a second job since it brings in some money too, if they wager smart.

As a blogger, I do a lot of reading and researching. I surf to a lot of websites, even casino review sites, though I personally find them useful too, especially when I need to join in the conversation with guys! So don’t be surprised that I do know of some of the best casinos, which pay higher bonuses, which offer free games or foreign language support.

My knowledge comes in handy to my friends. They may be big time online casino players but I am a little surprised that they do not spare a little time to read up on online casinos, check out the newly launched casinos or even keep up-to-date with news in the online casino scene, except for word of mouth from chatting with other casino players while a game is in session. I think that without doing any homework themselves, they are missing a large piece of the puzzle!

Silenced With ISA

It has been shocking to Malaysians that three people have been arrested under the ISA, a British law that should have been abolished a long time ago. These three detainees are prominent blogger and editor of Malaysia Today, Raja Petra (RPK), Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng and lawmaker from the coalition front, Teresa Kok.

To read about the Internal Security Act and what it actually is or what purpose it serves, go check up on Google. This is not the first time that ISA has been applied to individual Malaysians to “silence” them. Somehow, living in modern day Malaysia in 2008, it feels as if we are watching a remake of a bad movie with the same old script but with new actors.

Nobody deserves to be detained under the ISA where the detainee will have no contact whatsoever with lawyers, family members or friends for up to sixty days. Do you think this threat is not enough to fear someone into silence? As a blogger with multiple blogs, I am very well aware from my stats that the Government employs people to surf the web, read blogs and websites of alternative media looking for targets.
