DiGi Increases GSM Network Capacity in Klang Valley

Here’s good news for DiGi users, especially those of you who are in the Klang Valley. I know many of my friends who are DiGi users are always complaining of low coverage, weak signal and what not, well, if you are in the Klang Valley, DiGi is increasing their GSM network capacity and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Weak signal and low coverage are issues that helped me decide not to switch to DiGi yet. I am still with Celcom even though they are blood suckers because Ipoh is “Celcom territory” and I am not faced with these common mobile connection issues, thankfully.

If DiGi would do the same upgrade here in Ipoh like what they are doing for users in Klang Valley then I may consider switching. I should be able to reduce my mobile bill, then!

Asbestos Exposure & Mesothelioma

Some people may say that ignorance is bliss but I wouldn’t say so when it comes to issues that concern our health. It could mean a matter of life and death!

Living in an advanced country, it surprises me that the use of asbestos is still so rampant despite reports of dangers of exposure to asbestos. Many people are ignorant to the fact that prolonged exposure to asbestos could cause Mesothelioma, a deadly cancer of the lung. Ironically, the makers of asbestos do know that asbestos could kill. Can you imagine the unnecessary risks that workers and their families are put through just because of this??

Although workers who have been exposed to asbestos and diagnosed with Mesothelioma now know that they have rights and could seek compensation, they should also know that engaging a Mesothelioma Lawyer, a lawyer that specializes in Mesothelioma cases, could make a difference in the quantum of compensation.

Moreover, many manufacturers have already closed their businesses or filed for bankruptcy which makes it difficult for workers who have Mesothelioma now to seek compensation. This is because that even with prolonged exposure to asbestos, it could take years for symptoms to show and to be diagnosed with Mesothelioma.

Do know that Mesothelioma patients have rights too and an expert Mesothelioma lawyer would see to that!

Charged In Court For Insulting Sultan

I guess this news must have come as quite shocking for every web user, even for those of us born and bred in Sultanate states. Yes, we know that Sultans should be revered but recent political events in the state of Perak in Malaysia have caused an uproar on the web as people used their emotions to “speak”.

Websites and blogs are public domain which anyone with internet access could read. These people who hurled abuses at the Sultan on his own website, and yes I did read that guest book that morning and have to agree that most comments were unnecessary, should know better.

Now, I am not saying that these people were the ones who wrote those harsh comments but if I remember correctly, there weren’t just five or six people. If anything, these people, chosen out of a larger pool of people who insulted the Sultan are just like the sacrificial lamb!

Elizabeth Wong Leaked Nude Photos – Should She Resign?

I understand that the leaked Elizabeth Wong (also known as Eli) nude photos are of her sleeping in the nude around the house. I understand from reading reports online that these photos were shot with a camera phone by her then live in boyfriend and then sold for monetary gain and revenge. Certain quarters have called on her resignation and clumped her together with the likes of former Malaysian Health Minister, Dr. Chua Soi Lek.

I personally think that she does not have to resign. Well, whether she sees herself as the victim or not, even if the photos are worse than just “sleeping” and she has been caught in intimate positions, I don’t see anything wrong in that because she is single and unless the guy is a married man, then there’s a scandal for you and she should leave public office.

If the guy’s single and she is single, doing something in the supposedly privacy of her own home, is there anything wrong in that? As far as I understand, these photos were shot even before she was elected as State Assembly woman for Bukit Lanjan, Selangor.

I am not siding Pakatan Rakyat and being anti-BN but objectively comparing these two recent scandals that struck Malaysian political scene, I don’t think Elizabeth Wong, even with a slew of nude photos in public, should resign. Dr. Chua, on the other hand, was a Minister and worse, he is married. Moreover, he has kept this “personal friend” as his mistress for years. I guess worst of all, he resigned from everything but still not give up the mistress. That means he doesn’t see anything wrong in that relationship and how it has caused him his political career, and being caught, caused hurt and shame to his family and disgrace to himself.

What are your thoughts, without making this a political issue?

Barack Obama Sworn In As 44th President of the United States of America

President Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States after the swearing in ceremony less than an hour ago, making him the first ‘black’ President of the United States.

This is some sort of History but don’t forget that Barack Obama is from an inter racial marriage and his mother is actually white. Frankly, if not for this fact, I wonder if he would have garnered the support of whites in America.

Whatever the case, Americans are all very excited to have a new President even though he just spent more than US$100 million of tax payers’ money on his inauguration ceremony.

I watched the whole ceremony online like I said I would, while my dad watched it on TV. I wonder how long these videos will be online since, I’m sure, there would be people who would like to watch them again.

Interesting Look At Kuala Terengganu By-Election On Google

NST ran a very interesting observation on the Kuala Terengganu by-election in today’s papers. Kuala Terengganu by-election, or more popularly known as KT by-election, is a three-corner Parliamentary seat by-election. It is hotly contested because it will show us the stand of voters for or against the ruling coalition party, Barisan Nasional.

According to this article on The New Straits Times the candidate with the highest “hits” is Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, a candidate representing Barisan Nasional.

It seems more people are searching for this candidate, probably they want to know where to get “free money”. LOL

NST also did a search on YouTube. The first and second candidates, Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh and Pas candidate Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut both tied at thirteen videos each. Independent candidate, Azharuddin Mamat @ Adam, does not have any videos. I am surprised. Even Tok Mun has videos.

Hired & Fired Via Facebook

A Canadian spa employee was fired via Facebook a couple of months ago. She is trying to seek legal redress because she said that it is no way to sack an employee via a private message on Facebook.

Crystal Bell was fired for skipping a staff meeting but to her defense, it was on her day off.

Her former employer said that she tried to call Crystal Bell on that day and could not get her on the phone. The only way to reach her was via a message on Facebook as she wanted to wrap up the issue on the same day itself.

Crystal Bell had only been with the company for two weeks and probably still under probation. Her lawyer said there’s nothing she could do about it because of this.

The irony is that, while Crystal Bell felt the injustice of being sacked via Facebook, she of all people shouldn’t expect too much as she was hired via Facebook too in the first place. LOL
