Living In The IT Age

I think that school leavers are so lucky to be living in the age of internet technology. When I was at that age, I really wanted to be a flight attendant but I did not have resources and did not even know how to be trained to be a qualified flight attendant.

These days, girls who dream of an exciting flight attendant career could just surf the internet for information. They could check out a flight attendant school online and make enquiries or read the experiences of a flight attendant from a flight attendant blog and learn what the job really entails.

I wish that I had easy access to such abundance of information back then. I know that I would have the advantage over other girls if I had the training and paper qualification of being a flight attendant. My life would have taken a very different path; the path of a high-flying, jet-setting career girl!

If you are dreaming of such an exciting career as a flight attendant, you should check http://aha.edu, the website of a flight attendant school.

Who Are These “Friends”?

A friend was surprised to see that the number of friends I have on Facebook has increased drastically recently. I have to tell her that I do not even know 3/4 of the people in my list!

I started out on Facebook with the hope of only adding people I really know in real life as friends but I feel really bad if they request for inclusion especially if they found me from “people you may know”.

And then there are friends with multiple profiles who want to raise their game characters or gain points, so much so that I no longer remember whose profile belongs to which *real* person.

I do not see the point of adding a person in our buddy list when we don’t know him or her but I guess most people join social network sites with a mission. They “network” trying to “sell” or blast people in their network with an “idea”.

Well, even though I have twenty blogs, I only added my personal blog to my Facebook profile. That is for the convenience of friends who are genuinely interested to know what’s happening in my life.

What is Wrong???

I have no idea what is wrong with my broadband internet connection AGAIN! Half the web is dead to me right now, meaning I cannot access half the websites, including most of my self-hosted blogs. I have no idea if this is a connection problem or a server problem because other sites that I visit regularly are also inaccessible. I tell you, this just pisses me off because it wastes a lot of my time trying to trouble shoot, testing with Celcom 3G and what not.

What irks me more is that sometimes when I could not access some websites from my computer with Streamyx and these sites could be opened from my mobile device with Celcom 3G so I switch my connection on my computer so that I could work.

However, once I switched over, my Celcom 3G connection does not connect from my computer! Really pissed off!

I have to say that although Streamyx could be shitty sometimes, their customer service is very good and I pity the people who have to field calls from disgruntled customers. I called them up at 11pm and 4am and they entertained my grouses. A report has been lodged. Let’s hope that they settle this before the two working days timeline they gave me!

Revamped Picasa

If you are a frequent user of Picasa, I am sure you noticed the change. To me, I find the new, revamped Picasa loads faster than before. I am not sure if the change did that or if it’s because of other elements like my computer or broadband speed.

Also, I love the larger thumbnail view. It used to be, and wasted a lot of my time, that I had to click on each image just to view it, or squint and try to make out what that image is just so that I could avoid an extra click.

I wish that they would allow us to somehow change our file name in Picasa itself, instead of having to delete the image and upload one again with the new name. If this feature is already in place, I did not notice it yet.

Also, I hate it that each time I uploaded a wrong image to my Blogger blog, I have to access that image from Picasa to delete it. I wish that Blogger/Picasa would make it easier for us to access our blog images from Blogger itself so that we could delete or edit those images after uploading to Blogger.

The Wedding Channel

I agreed to help a friend prepare for the wedding later this month. It is not that I know how to do it but because she needed assistance because of time constraints. I don’t even know why this couple decided on a wedding at the last minute but since it is a happy occasion, I did not deny her.

However, even if I know nothing about wedding preparations and stuff like that, I was able to look up information and read on the Dos and Don’ts online. I find it a little amusing that here I am, actually enjoying the “work”. I think it’s because I am spending money that’s not my own! Haha!

If you are preparing a wedding, whether your own or helping out a bride, you must check out The Wedding Channel. I absolutely love this website because it is so comprehensive it covers everything! You need not even look at another wedding website!

Gmail Space

I log in to my Gmail account every day yet I did not notice how my Gmail storage space has grown. I now have more than 7000MB of space in each account!

Actually, I don’t even know if I ever will limit up my storage because I don’t email that much but there are some email that I do not delete because I need to keep for record’s sake and wish that I could somehow store them “as is” somewhere safe. No, I do not trust any email client, you see, so I do hope that I could move some important email away.

Actually, at this point, the storage is unimportant already. I just hope that they will increase our file size limit! If only we could send files as large as 100MB, at least, it would be great. Then we could email video clips directly instead of uploading them to YouTube or MegaUpload. Waste of time only, right?

Lousy Celcom Flash Website

I have been a subscriber of Celcom for more than two years and I tell you, each time I needed information from their website, I am made to click on every link looking for the information and yet fail. I then end up calling their Customer Service line!

I know I am not the only one and it is not because I am stupid or not web savvy that I am not able to get the information that I want. I have talked to many Celcom customers and they all tell me the same thing.

If you talk about new Celcom features or whatever promotion that Celcom is running, nobody would be able to obtain the info from their site and depend on advertisements in the papers or brochures from Celcom offices.

That’s why I always say, it is no use to have a flashy website that nobody could obtain the information they want!
