Gmail finally brings us push mail to our iPhone and Windows Mobile, though if you are an iPhone user, Push Gmail would only work if you are running iPhone OS version 3.0 or newer. Ah, this is just yet another reason for me to upgrade the OS of my iPhone.
A year ago, I would be ecstatic if I had Push Gmail since I was living in my Gmail inbox back then but now, I have moved on and email is not as important as it was before. I still need my email but that’s no longer a priority.
Anyway, if you are using Push mail, whether Gmail or some other email services, you should know that Push is a battery killer especially if you set it to push instantly like I did with my Nokia E61i. It really isn’t practical if you are always on the move. Sure, email is so important to many of us that we need to read it as soon as it hits our inbox but then what good is the phone when battery runs dry?
