Apple Celebrates 25 billionth Download From Its App Store

Apple celebrated its 25th billion download from its app store by releasing a list of top apps downloaded. Angry Birds is the top paid iPhone app downloaded in the UK, WhatsApp Messenger is the second, followed by Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds Seasons.

Facebook is number one in the free iPhone app category in the UK. It is followed by Facebook, Skype, eBay, Google Earth and Google Search.

As for iPad apps top paid in the UK is Apple’s word-processing app called Pages, followed by Angry Birds HD, Scrabble, GarageBand and Monopoly.

Meanwhile, the top free iPad app is BBC’s iPlayer, followed by ITV Player, Skype for iPad, 4oD Catch Up and eBay for iPad.

Basing on these lists, one can see that currently, people are using their iPhones and iPads for games, social networking and news and entertainment.

Less Personal Data Shared On Facebook

A recent survey has found that fewer Facebook users are sharing their personal data on the website, compared to a year ago. It has found that more women users are hiding data compared to men too.

Some of the data that are no longer shared include date of birth, friends list, schools and other affiliations. If these information were shared, they were only shared to selected groups of people.

I have long stopped sharing such information because even with set limitations you really can’t trust the internet!

Angry Birds Facebook App

Angry Birds Facebook app will soon be launched, and it will happen in Jakarta, Indonesia, the city with the highest number of Facebook accounts. Judging from shops in Jakarta, the people there seem to be addicted to Angry Birds as well.

The Angry Birds Facebook app will be slightly different than Angry Birds on other platforms. The Facebook app allows for sharing of high scores among friends and gifting. Additionally, players can purchase new, more accurate “power-ups”. I think they MUST. LOL

Just Cloud

Searching for a service to back up my image files, which I no longer use but would still like to have on hand, just in case, a friend told me that I should just go for cloud storage. I have to admit that although I have heard of the term, I have not actually bothered to read more information about just what cloud storage means.

Anyway, a friend recommended justcloud, which I have not even heard about. Apparently, it’s a “new kid on the block” when it comes to online backup storage, and JustCloud is one of the top providers because of its vast features.

Top-10-Online-Backup.com has a very comprehensive in-depth review of JustCloud which I have found to be extremely informative, and comparing the service offered by this company and other similar companies, it looks like JustCloud is far ahead in terms of features, though they have yet to clinch the number one spot at this time of writing but it looks like they will soon be, based on their average user rating of a minimum of four stars.

My main concern is reliability and value for money. So far, I have only read good things about the company. It looks like this is a company of choice.

Facebook IPO

Faceboook is heading for IPO, which is expected to raise US$12 billion for the company. One Malaysian company will be looking forward to the good news. It is MOL Global, which Malaysian tycoon, Vincent Tan, is the major shareholder. The company, which holds about 10% of Facebook, is expected to rake in US$420 million from the Initial Public Offering.

That is certainly a huge amount of money, especially in good ol’ Malaysia, and how will that benefit ordinary Malaysians? I guess that with fresh funds thanks to Facebook IPO, MOL can go on a shopping spree and buy up some dot coms or collaborate with companies that offer social networking services.

Social Alarm Service

My friend told me that he has received a second warning from his manager this month for being late to work. He said that since his office moved to a new building, it is now quite a distance to drive to work and the road is always jammed as well. I feel that what he should do, obviously, is to wake up earlier so that he would be in the office earlier than usual. However, my friend confesses that he has problems getting out of bed in the morning.

Perhaps what he should do is register with Talkoclock. This is a new social networking company that is unique. I don’t think I have heard of a “social alarm service” before, where users could request to be woken up by other members.

What I like most about Talkoclock is that this is a free service and best of all, it is available throughout the world! The company wants us to spread our positive energy as far away as possible. In addition, it works with all kinds of phones. How great is that? I think it is awesome that new friends are just a phone call away, and yet we are provided with the security we need among strangers, initially.

Carbonite Pro

As I am currently checking out online back up services, I am reading many reviews of such services as it helps save time, without having to commit money on a service and then finding that I do not like it, or the company offers only limited services. I am currently reading about Carbonite Pro. There is a very comprehensive carbonite pro review that I find very useful as it provides me with all the information that I require, before signing up with it.

I have been talking to a friend about problems I faced with my ever increasing collection of photos. I have no idea how my media friends cope with this, but after one year, I have already ran out of space on my desktop computer, laptop and a huge external disk. I thought it was huge, but apparently, it is still inadequate.

My friend told me to look for an online backup service that provides secure, unlimited storage and whatever features that I need. While some online backups are good enough for home use, some would meet the requirements of a business user. I don’t really know what I need. I guess I would have to continue reading reviews on online backups to find out their differences.
