More Likely To Be Infected By Virus Via Blogs

According to the latest Internet Security Threat Report compiled by software protection company, Symantec, internet users are more likely to get their computers infected by virus or malware by accessing blogs than pornographic websites.

In the same report, it is found that spam emails were significantly reduced last year but at the same time such spam and malware saw a drastic increase in their spread and reach via social networking mobile applications like Facebook and Twitter.

Well, I remember my friend saying that if you do not want to be infected, just get offline! How true.

Still Waiting For That Windows 8 Tablet

I have been travelling quite a lot more frequently for the past month and while I could bring along my laptop, I left it at home because of the weight. Besides, while the places that I go to are civil, internet connection could be erratic sometimes, so it is not viable to lug around the heavy weight, just so I could work on it for that short while.

Obviously, many people are using iPad but it is not good enough for me. I am waiting for a tablet that runs on Windows 8 but it is still not here yet! How long more do I need to wait? Or should I just grab that Samsung Galaxy Note? I wish I win one so that I don’t have to spend almost RM2K buying it!! So expensive, you know?

Delete Photos From Facebook

This morning, I accidentally uploaded a photo to my Facebook Page, a photo that I shouldn’t even keep on my computer, let alone upload it to the public! This photo, when uploaded, drained blood from my face. That’s how private it is.

Of course, i noticed it as soon as it was uploaded, and quickly deleted it. Thinking hard, I wonder if it is REALLY deleted, like wiped off from the Facebook server?

I did a search on the internet and found that it is a known fact Facebook may no longer show the photo on user’s interface, but it is still lurking in the deep bowels of its servers, accessible to anyone who has the direct link to the photo. Scary!!!!!

Cloud Storage Technology

In my search for the best cloud storage services, I came across quite a few, some provide free account to test out the service and some don’t. Prices vary too and it is not easy to commit to a single provider. I am thinking of signing up to two companies, and store my files separately in both these accounts. As the saying goes, don’t put all eggs in one basket.

I found a good resource for information on cloud storage at Just Cloud. Here, you can get all the latest information on cloud storage, including how it works and the current top cloud storage providers. This makes it easier to read up on the industry and also look for a best value-for-money service.

Cloud storage is the way forward, though many people do not realize this yet. A friend, who manages a video portal, also stores all his files in the cloud. According to him, his videos plays as soon as we hit the play button, and viewers are not faced with the buffering problem. Hence, this is an improvement on viewer experience, compared to other video websites.

If you have not heard about cloud storage, let alone use this technology, you really should read about it!

What Are The Free Online Storage Sites?

My hard disk is showing me the red alert that it is about to be full. I have an external hard disk, but some how, it could not be read from my computer. Therefore, I have been actively searching for free online storage services, hoping to transfer some of my media away from my computer, for safe keeping and to free up some space.

Although I have found quite a few, I have not commit to any company yet as I am afraid that I would encounter problems later. As you know, the internet is very fluid and some companies may not be able to withstand the challenges and competition. We have seen many seemingly strong companies terminating some of their free services, or raising their subscription fee, haven’t we?

No doubt, I will eventually have to decide on which company to go with, or even open two accounts with two companies, just to be safe, you know? I hope that meanwhile, I could still continue with my research on the best service by reading reviews and asking friends about their experiences.

If you have anything to share, do leave me a comment. I can’t hold for too long, as I continue to shoot photo after photo as an event blogger!

Malaysia Lost RM2.75b To Cyber Crime

Did you read the report about Malaysia has lost RM2.75 billion to cyber crime over the past five years? This was revealed by an official from the national cyber security agency.

The top affected sector was finance, obviously. However, others affected included intellectual property and copyright infringement online.

A friend once told me that the only way we can stay free from cyber crime is to stop logging on to the internet and the only way we can stay from being affected by virus is to stop using the computer. Zero risk!

Angry Gran

At first, it’s Angry Birds, now it’s Angry Gran. A friend told me about it, urging me to download. But nah.. I am busy enough, I don’t need to get addicted to another game! I have already stopped playing most Facebook games, and don’t find Angry Birds nice to play at all… thankfully! I am of the mind that if I can’t win it, I don’t play it. HAHAH!

So anyone of you addicted to Angry Gran already??? Do you find it that nice to play? Have seen friends playing, but I am not going to try. Yes, I am weak. LOL
