How Vain Are You?

I know of many corporations which have people assigned the task of checking online which blog or website mentions the company. Are they vain or are they so afraid that people write negative things about them that they have to keep checking Technorati or Google daily? Speaking of Technorati, my blog is STILL wrongly ranked! GGGrrrr

There was even someone from a large retail outlet who came to read my post a few times over a period of a month. Maybe they were hoping that I would edit my post, but I did not. However, after reading my post, which was not negatively written, I did discover some changes on their site. I am glad that they took my post positively.

On an individual scale, there are people who keep checking their names online. Yes, I personally know a few of these people. Either they are insecure or they think that they are so famous. But they aren’t really :p

But the scary people are those that keep checking OTHER PEOPLE. I get quite a number of hits from searches and it scares the hell out of me. At least leave me a comment! hehehe

MySpace Message

Last year, I wrote a message to a fellow MySpace member and was actually expecting a reply, but I never received an email notification. I am actually not a huge fan of social networking and I only ever join to oblige friends and then log in only to check my messages.

Anyway, I logged into MySpace recently due to a “friend” request and to my horror, saw that my message was actually replied to on the following day! And here I was, waiting and waiting thinking that my message was trashed or something.

Imagine, if that party was also waiting for my reply, how long he would have waited from last October, or was it September, until this April.

To me, it seems kind of rude if people are expecting your reply and you are not responding in a timely manner. I do not know if the non-notification is a MySpace glitch or my own email glitch but it reflects me *sigh*

Expand Your Network With Person.com

I came across a website that is community based appropriately called Person.com – webcams, chat, personals, social networking are all here in one portal.

This site is free to join and it is a great way to expand our social circle with like-minded people, exchanging text chat, voice chat and even live cam, one-to-one or in public rooms.

A webcam is not a requirement of participation. Also, you can view the webcam of other members who have opted for public broadcast. If you have a webcam and would like to broadcast it live, you can opt for public or private broadcasting. You see, the site is very flexible and it allows you to adjust your level of exposure and privacy. This is what I like.

I think that everyone who is into online social networking should try the site out. It brings a different experience, believe me!

First, Firrrrst, FIRST, First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came across this really amusing video a guy made of himself explaining why he is taking it as his job to be the first person to leave a comment on a new blog post or a new video on YouTube, etc.

I think he’s really cute to be doing that. To be frank, I need him. I know there are people reading my blogs and coming for information but they hardly ever leave a comment, so I wish that each time I have a new post, he’d come here and leave a comment:

First, Firrrrst, FIRST, First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha that would be really funny!

What I find strange about people is that they need someone to break the barrier. When there is no first comment, people will not feel like leaving a comment too, because no one wants to be first. On the other hand, if there is already a first comment, people tend to comment after the first. I have seen this happening on my other blog quite a few times.

It’s like nobody wants to sit at the front row but once there is someone sitting there, people will slowly fill up the seats. Have you noticed this too?

So, yeah, we publishers do need more people like him going round and round the internet leaving First, Firrrrst, FIRST, First!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every time we publish something! That would be great.

Time For Professional Internet Marketing

My pal has been complaining of, not low sales, but rather NO sales. No doubt, she was too busy to devote as much time as previously on marketing of her online store but it is quite shocking to know that she did not close a sale at all in the last month.

I told her that she has to seriously consider setting aside a budget to let a professional company handle this aspect of the business. This way, she can devote more time and energy into procurement and selling, instead of wasting time on tweaking her store and not doing it the proper way, hence not as optimized as it should.

I told her about Collins Internet Marketing, a firm that provides total internet marketing solutions, especially search engine marketing and optimization and pay-per-click management to Realtors and small online enterprises like hers.

I told her that it will be money well invested in should she opt for services like this as she will gain that much needed exposure and the traffic to her webstore will be reward enough. Don’t you think so? It is then up to her to convert the traffic into buyers, hence clinching the much desired sales.

I hope that she will for once listen to my advice and delegate her tasks to people who can deliver.

Social Networking

I know many people are into social network communities like Friendster, MySpace, Hi5 and others. Well, I don’t like this type of socializing but I did join them to oblige friends who have joined and sent me an invitation to join them so that we can add each other.

I do not understand why we have to add each other, though. People say the concept is that by forming a chain of friends, we can get to know friends of friends, if you know what I am saying. This is exactly what I do not want!

Even though I am members of most of these social network sites, I never develop my pages. I am lazy and I would rather remain anonymous!

Most times, I don’t even remember who is who because people simply request to be added, even when they have just got to know me, and worse, even when they do not know me at all!

I have a famous “friend” on MySpace. His name is Peter Belisi. Don’t believe? :-p

Do My Stuff!

I guess I have been complaining too many times about having not enough time to complete my work nor do I have any leisure at all, I don’t even have time to comb my hair.

A couple of days ago, I received an email from my friend with a short message: Click here to visit DoMyStuff.com!

So I went to check out the site and I feel that this is the kind of service that I need exactly. I could just post my errand up and someone who lives nearby could bid for my job. This is a win-win situation as I can finally free up my time to do what I love, or just to get a break from the mundane errands and to relax, while the person who wins my job will get some pocket money. What an awesome arrangement!

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWeb) April 4, 2007 — Time is the most valuable resource we have, but it often gets filled with chores we don’t want to do.
