Blogger Blog – Identified As A Potential Spam Blog

How awful. I just received an email from Blogger that my Blogger blog has been identified as a potential spam blog. I was reluctant to click on the link to request for a review at first since I have been training myself to avoid clicking on links that come in email, instant messages, private messages and social network sites.

I did a search online and found that quite a few Blogger blog owners have received a similar email. The bad thing about it is that Blogger threatens to delete our blog in 20 days if we do not request for a review.

So far, it looks like even those who are using their own domains names but have their blogs hosted by Blogger are also affected so it looks like if you have a blog on Blogger but with your own domain name, you might as well pay for cheap hosting.

I hope that my blog will pass this review and they would not accidentally delete my blog. in any case, I have already backed up my Blogger blog. Geee don’t you hate it when the survival of your blog is threatened like that?

Questions From Blog Readers

Almost everyday, I would receive questions from readers pertaining to a blog post or another that I wrote previously. These readers are people who landed on my blogs from searching Google and other search engines and not my regular readers.

I wonder if they know the difference between a blog and a website, particularly an official website based on the questions they ask me.

For example, from the one too many posts I wrote on Celcom, Celcom’s mobile phone, 3G and broadband services and Celcom billing problems, I get people writing in to me to ask me to send them their bills, ask me about the latest promotions, ask me to activate their SIM card, etc.

Hello, I am not Celcom and I cannot help them with any of these problems. Even though I do publish their comments I doubt if Celcom staff would read and respond to them. Sometimes, I feel like letting these people who that they have written their long enquiries to the wrong person but most times, I just let them be because I simply don’t have the time to explain.

Blogs Are Like Bad Girlfriends

I haven’t had the chance to really sit down and work on my blogs for the past ten days. If you have been reading my personal blog, you will know why.

I once read someone referring to blogs like bad girlfriends. I don’t remember who said that anymore but I think it’s spot on. Bad girlfriends here mean that girlfriends who need constant attention and that’s exactly what blogs need!

Like I said, I was not able to spend time working on my slew of blogs and I could actually see the traffic count for most blogs declining, even for my most popular blog where traffic is mostly from search engines, I could see that just because I did not update it as regularly as I used to, the traffic has dropped drastically.

I have to buck up and spend more time updating ’em blogs as soon as possible. I think that I must also cut down on time spent playing Pet Society and Restaurant City on Facebook. Those don’t make me money, real money and not Pet Society and Restaurant city coins. LOL

Going Back To Free Blogs

Many of my friends who are making money online told me that they no longer want that many domain names. Renewing domain names is no longer cheap if you opt for Whois protection as well.

There is a blogger friend who allowed many of her domain names to expire and in the process killing those blogs without migrating the post elsewhere.

Instead, what she did was start more free blogs, a lot of them on Blogger.com for monetization purposes and another slew on WordPress.com for backlinking purposes.

This lady told me that going back to free blogs not only save her money in domain name renewals and hosting, established free blog hosing websites like Blogger.com and WordPress.com make SEO friendly blogs too!

500 Internal Server Error

Recently, I discovered that a handful of my sub-domain blogs are offline and the error message is 500 Internal Server Error. I don’t even know what happened to them because I haven’t done anything to these blogs except to upgrade WordPress to the latest version. I haven’t even blogged on them for a while already!

The weird thing is that the blog on the main domain is OK and so are some other blogs that are on sub-domains. Oh yes, even though I could not access these blogs online, I also could not access these blogs via WordPress admin. However, I could view my files from the cpanel and I have FTP access to them. Isn’t that strange?

I now I should seek out my webhost again but after the problems I gave him with the server overload twice in the beginning of May, I thought I should give him a rest. LOL

Probloggers Hanging Up Their Keyboards

I read a couple of articles about probloggers who have decided that it is no longer lucrative to be a problogger. I don’t think it has been lucrative from the first instance because a lot of time is needed to cultivate a blog that could give us a constant residual income. As far as I know, blogs need regular updates so that search engines could continue to spider new content.

I once read that dedicated bloggers would post up to fifty times on one blog a day every day. I don’t think I could be that dedicated and unlike the bigger bloggers who have taken their blogs to a more commercial level by hiring bloggers to come up with original content, I could only work on my blogs at my own pace.

Recently, I downloaded free internet casino games to play which caused me to blog less but I still managed to blog on Elizabeth Wong and the Penang nurse. They make interesting blog topics and are some of my best commented posts!

Blog Housekeeping

After blogging for about three years now, this month, I am starting a blog housekeeping exercise. My main concern would be to clean up my dead links, if any and to update my old posts with more relevant information. I normally do not do this because I expect readers to check the date of my posts so they would know if the information in my post would still be relevant.

Well, I realize that there are MANY people who somehow do not check the date of posts and then they say that my information is incorrect. I find this annoying and at the same time amused. However, it just shows the importance of updating older posts with more relevant information.

Other than these, my blog housekeeping tasks seem pretty easy to accomplish except that I am doing from the beginning of my blog until December 2008 and I am doing it across all my blogs. LOL
