It Was A Bad Izea

Ted mentioned on the blog that they have decided on a new name for Argus and it is not one of those that he asked for our opinion and vote. Well, I am glad that the four have been discarded. I HOPE they have!

And I really hope that it will NOT be Izea. Do you know what is Izea? Well, it’s just plain ol’ IDEA pronounced by a non-English speaking European. Don’t get me wrong, I am not dissing Europeans but this is the way my European friends speak English because it’s not their native language.

Most of their English words are pronounced with a “Z” in it even though the spelling does not. An “idea” can end up being an “izea”, you know?

Maybe I am weird, but I don’t get it why Posties were all saying that Izea is a great name. Well, I just think that was a bad Idea and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, this is not the name that will be revealed during PostieCon.

Copy Cat

I just found out that a blogger whom I consider a friend copied parts one of my many sponsored posts. I am not going to report her though, but I am lucky that I submitted my post before her.

I was the one who told her about the new opportunity and after she reserved it, asked me what it is all about because she did not understand the requirements after reading the description. I told her the gist of it but she wanted to read my post so I passed the link to her.

Next thing I knew, parts of my own post were copied to her post and she submitted it.

What can I say? In this business, you can’t trust anyone at all. I will of course never divulge any of my post ideas sponsored or otherwise, to anyone unless they have been submitted or published. Once the post is in public view then there is nothing much that I cam do. My content has been the target of scrapper sites lately and there is nothing I can do to stop them.

A Way To Get More Website Traffic

I mentioned in a couple of post this past week that I thought of getting more contextual links pointing to my blogs and hence, raising the search engine results of my particular keywords. I wrote that I had a three-pronged attack to raise the page rank of my blogs, get more website traffic, raise my Technorati ranking and lower my Alexa ranking. A friend said that I am too ambitious. Am I?

But I think that I could garner more website traffic if I could optimize my site so that it is more search engine friendly and appear higher in the search engine results.

I know that I can’t possibly do this by myself and would rather let the professionals take care of my “dirty work”. According to Think Big Sites only approximately 2 – 5 % of all websites are properly optimized. I am surprised considering the amount of websites that are launched every single day! This got me thinking that if I do have my site optimized, I would literally beat the competition!

So I am all the more determined to get some funds together and engage the help of a search engine optimization company to get my sites tweaked as perfectly as possible.

What Happened to My Blog Break?

I thought that I would get a two-day blog break starting yesterday and look what happened? Not only did I not get a break, I even wrote more than I did normally. Not that I am complaining haha!

BUT I did get a two-day break from the triple P network and that is not a good sign on a work day. Not that I wanted THAT break, mind you. If there is just another day without an opp for me then I am taking it to mean, “Hey, get lost, we don’t want you here!”

Anyway, when this is happening to me, a non-fussy blogger running multiple blogs, then I can certainly feel the Desert Storm faced by other international bloggers.

It’s just too bad when Triple P has been the best network for me till last month.

A Link In Every Post

It is funny. I think I tried too hard in not having a link on my organic posts and see what happens? It looks to me as if ALL my posts published in the past week and in drafts, have at least ONE link in them. Haha!

Well, what can I say? This is the essence of blogging! To link and be linked!

I hope that my reviewers will not have a fit distinguishing a sponsored from non-sponsored post. I am not up to arguing and there is also no way to proof that a link is NOT paid for. Its a good idea to place a “Disclosure” at the bottom of such posts!

Uggghh If I get rejection because of a couple of links here and there I would vomit blood! But to avoid all the hassle, I am going to try to keep my posts link free. Sigh …. it is difficult without the freedom to blood as and how I see fit.

Taking A Break

What I mean is a break from writing sponsored posts after I am done with the few pending ones sitting in my email. I would still be blogging of course but these are the things that I will be seeing to these couple of days:

1. Change template of some blogs or streamline unnecessary elements
2. Upgrade my WordPress (keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I will not run into problems)
3. Blog more drafts
4. Shop for a laptop
5. Meet up with a friend before he leaves for Melbourne for good
6. Sleep
7. Network & reply to comments!

Let’s see how much I can accomplish from this list.

Second Thoughts

You may know that I have been contemplating a link baiting-cum-competition blitz through a local advertorial network. Well, while I am still waiting for his reply, I am already having second thoughts. It is not that I am stingy and do not want to pay that obscene amount of money for this blitz but last night, I received a very disturbing email from David saying that he (his blog) has been penalised for the sudden surge in back links to his site with a specific keyword after his very successful contest concluded.

See, my Page Ranks are only 3 and 2. I would so love to bring them up but if this is the price I have to pay, I would rather maintain my Ranks, low as they are. I don’t know. Suddenly a blitz does not look so good anymore.

If this is the case, then I would not e running a contest. Why would something fun be turned into a sour episode? I am not going to hand out prizes AND suffer the consequences. That would be so unfair. That would be like a double whammy!
