The News Room – Is There Something Wrong?

I joined The News Room some time back when I took up their opp in the marketplace. I kinda like the site as it is content rich and I get fresh ideas on stuff to write whenever I run out of topics off my head. Plus, it is another way to monetize my blogs and in fact, from the handful of The News Room widget that I placed on my blog posts, I already earned $1.xx.

Unfortunately, not too long ago, I noticed that my widgets are not rendering any content. I don’t know what happened but I am doing exactly the same thing that I did when I first joined The News Room and successfully embedded their widget and earned that $1.xx.

Right now, though, I find that it is a waste of time to write up a post, embed the widget, publish it to find that the content is not displaying and I would have to take off the widget and edit my post.

You know, sometimes I may write something like, “If you would like to share this article/video with your blog readers, just click on the MASH button.” So no widget, and this line has to be taken off. Bah… how to monetize without the widget? And, I don’t even have the time to keep checking if The News Room widget is back online again.

Flirt Box

Being single, one of the things friends and family do is try to match make me. You would not believe the number of online dating sites that I have been recommended this past six months. They were eye opening and interesting but I failed to find a date, even if it was an online one. Am I too choosy?

Have you heard of Flirt Box? This is a totally free online dating site where British singles meet, though people from the rest of the world are welcome to join the party as well.

Flirt Box is really different from other singles dating site where people have a chance to get to know others who share similar interests. Flirt Box offers more than that because there is the forum and a very funny column written by Neal D. Bogosian. Too funny. Everyone should read it no matter their marital status!

Perhaps I will just hang out here and not get my hopes too high.

Blog Comments

I am sorry to say this but recently, I have been having a slew of comments from people who came to my blog from a certain Do Follow blogroll and these people vaguely read through some of my posts and keep bombarding me with comments with a short sentence that touches slightly on my post topic, and obvious only looking for a link back to their commercial site.

I know there are companies that sell comments and there are people buying them, however, I do not feel right to publish these comments from people with a PRODUCT as their name.

I mean, I welcome comments from all quarters but please put a reasonable human name. I too don’t mind if the URL points to a commercial site BUT only if it is not in direct conflict to my advertiser. They wouldn’t want that because they have paid for the space.

And please leave a comment that makes sense and reflects that you have read my post.

Isuzu Pick Ups

You may not know it but automobiles fascinate me. I think I may the only regular girl participating in the forum called 0 to 100 and thoroughly enjoy myself car talk with the boys. It is my dream to one day be able to participate in a 4X4 expedition, but that will have to wait till I have enough savings to spend like that!

Just now, I was checking out new models from Isuzu and I came across their very popular crew cab pick up and range of extended cab pick ups.

My dad is a fan of Isuzu and I can remember that we have had at least ONE Isuzu at home. Granted, my dad uses it at work but then he will give up rides on the pick up in the evenings when he is home early. How I miss those times. Isuzu extended cab pick ups still give me warm memories.

If you have the time, check out the website of Isuzu for their full range of pick ups and other models, including the 2007 Isuzu Ascender!

Three Links Per Post Maximum

I read somewhere a couple of days ago, I have forgotten where, that we should only have a maximum of three outgoing links per post and we cannot have more than a hundred outgoing links per page, so I am taking it to mean the blogroll and other links on the sidebar.

It is very reasonable to have a maximum of three links per post and if they are spread out well, the post would not look spammy at all. However, there are advertisers, I was told, that requested for EIGHT (8!!) links in one post and this advertiser is paying only $2. I keep thinking perhaps this blogger must have interpreted the instructions wrongly?? Or is it really true that the advertiser wanted to get maximum bang out of his money?

When I first started blogging for pay, I was given a task and the description included a long list of links. I was not told if I should incorporate them all into my post or if they were for my reference only, but I *think* I tried my best to fit in quite a few links to my post.

And because of that, I received a ban. It was really unnecessary to place a ban because the advertiser could just contact me to remove x number of links and the post would have been fine.

Now I know better. If the advertiser does not mention about additional links, only one goes into the post. Better for me too, right? 😀

Sleek & Space Saving

If you have been following my blog, you would know that I am in the process of setting up a small office home office. I am trying my best to find furniture that will not take up too much space, like computer carts, for instance. Since I have quite a few computer systems at home, I have set up LAN networking and now I need to buy one of those LAN Racks too. I don’t know, do you think LAN Racks are necessary for my kind of set up?

I have browsed through many an online computer furniture online store but have yet to find a table that would fit in well to my existing furniture in my small office until I came upon Versatables. Check out this picture and let me know if I should get it. It is selling at $299 only and would be perfect for my computer. It also has space for my printer and the cart comes in wheels. I find it sleek and space saving!

Password Overload

Do you feel that each and every day that you are online and as you register yourself with more and more websites that you will one day forget all your important passwords and then not be able to log in? I know that most websites have a security question like “What is your favourite colour?” or something like that.

Well, what if I don’t even remember what is my favourite colour anymore? It has changed according to my mood haha like the mood ring! So how?

This is one of the reasons I am so reluctant to register with new websites, especially social sites or those that require me to register to vote, like Digg.com. Yes, it’s here that you can find a non-Digger, non-Facebooker and non-Twitter, despite their popularity *shrug*

So you can imagine how I hate it if my cache is cleared or my computer underwent a reformat that my browser does not auto log me into my favourite sites. I would then have to bring out my little black book because I can’t bloody remember them all!

And yes, my secret book is REALLY black and it is REALLY small!
