Link Exchange Directories

Over the past week, I visited a couple of sites that provide reciprocal link exchange between members or a one way link for paid members. I wonder if it s a good idea to participate in or if this will be considered as a link farm.

One thing though, from what I understand, we have to install the code to enable automated link exchanges on a separate page. I wonder how strong a sub-page would be even though there would be many links pointing towards our own site.

Also, I understand that more weight will be given to links of our individual posts as opposed to a link to our homepage. Besides, reciprocal links are said to be useless nowadays. I don’t know how true this is, though. I am still finding an answer to see which works and which does not.

I noted one of the member sites only has a rank of three. It’s nothing to shout about and if I were to take the trouble to participate in such programs, I would expect a Five. Haha!

This Idea Is Getting More Attractive

I believe that many of us have so much free time on our hands now! I am someone who cannot sit still or have too much free time and would always be looking for some project or other.

Remember my friend asked me why don’t I start an ecommerce website? Well, according to her, if I could sell something in demand like Sunglasses, I would earn a decent amount of money and do not have to depend so heavily on blogging. As you know, blogging is too erratic and at the mercy of others. With a side business, I would be able to generate more income from different sources.

I understand what she is implying and already did some homework on looking for a reliable supplier of Wholesale Sunglasses. Not only am I looking for a cheap source but also one that could give me quality products. I would go for better quality over lower prices anytime.

Let’s see how my venture will turn out to be. Do I envision that it will take over all my blogging time? I don’t think so but it would be great if my little venture were to bear fruit in the near future!

Getting Ideas For Wedding Planning

One of the reasons I spend so much time online is because I get to look for lots of information. If we are patient and willing to spend some time checking various sources, we can gather lots of useful information.

The other day, I was helping a friend look for Wedding Planning ideas. I surfed to quite a few sites that cater to bridal couples. I managed to find a site that has almost everything that a wedding planner would want to know about planning a successful and enjoyable wedding in The Wedding Channel.

They have success stories of newly weds which make good reading and boosted the confidence of my friend. She told me that with sites like these, who needs professional wedding planners anymore?

Well, it isn’t the same but then when a bride plans her own wedding with her own time, resources and creativity, I believe it is more fulfilling. Don’t you agree?

Are Directory Submissions Still Relevant?

I read that being listed on directories would help in raising our ranks but from what I understand, quite a few of these directories have been spanked as well so how would that be helpful?

The problem is that with blogs like mine, not all directories would accept my submission.

Moreover, the thing that makes me lose faith in the strength of being listed in Directories is that we have to list on specific categories, usually no category for blogs and we end up with an incoming link from the inner pages of a directory. So yeah, a directory may have a rank of six or even higher but its inner pages most probably will only be a three or two. Four, at the most.

And it would be most disheartening if after all the hard work, we find that the directory has been demoted. Bah!

The other day, I was introduced to the services of a company that charges labour for manual submissions to 100 directories with a minimum rank of five. I still have not decided if I should go with them, or look for one that charges cheaper, or do it myself. Frankly, I cannot afford the time.

But in the first place, would listing my blogs be a problem to those directories?

Adding No Follow Attribute

I follow (pun intended) with interest fellow bloggers’ discussion about adding the No Follow attribute to links are not paid for, links that we normally place in any of our posts so that readers will know what we are referring to in our post.

However, I don’t see why I should place No Follow when I have been linking to so many different sites for free since the day I started blogging.

I have a blog that I link out every single post and why do I have to change the way I have been blogging, paid or otherwise? One thing I hate is to be dictated on how I should do something especially when it comes to blogging, which should not be made into a chore.

I am aghast at the thought that some people even think that they should go back on their archives and add this attribute to all their old links. My goodness, surely people have better things to do with their time?

I think that if a blogger is not comfortable linking to a site for the first time then it probably is a wrong link on a wrong blog.

How To Look For Radiators

The hazard of spending too long hours on the internet is that everyone seems to think I know the internet like the back of my hand. Just last night, a friend told me that he needs my help in looking for a used Taurus Radiator for his old model Taurus.

I think I already mentioned that I have no interest in cars and do not like surfing to car sites unless I want to buy one but since this is a very easy task I’ll just help him with it.

I think it’s pretty no brainer that to look for radiators, the first place to look for it is on Radiator.com haha! That was what I did and I managed to locate his Taurus radiator just by following a few links from the homepage from the car manufacturer to car model to the year of the model.

I taught my friend what he should do to look for this Taurus radiator and hopefully he will look for other radiators easily like this.
