Facebook #1 In Malaysia

A few days ago, Alexa released traffic statistics for the most visited websites in Malaysia and the number one website that is currently visited by Malaysians the most is Facebook.

I am not surprised since I myself spend a considerable amount of time on Facebook and in fact, I perpetually have my browser opened on Facebook playing one game or another from Mafia Wars to Pet Society, which all, admittedly take too much of time to level up!

If I wasn’t playing a game or another, sometimes a few games at the same time, I would be chatting with friends, spamming their walls or replying to the spam on my own wall, which could take the whole day!

I know that I am not the only one who spends virtually the whole time my computer is connected to the internet logged in to my Facebook account doing one thing or another. You would understand if you are addicted to Facebook too! LOL. No wonder it is the most visited website in Malaysia.

I wonder which website will be the top this time next year!

PIKOM PC Fair 2010 (I)

We are only into the second day of the New Year of 2010 but PIKOM has already announced a launch alert for PIKOM PC Fair 2010 (I). PIKOM PC Fair 2009 (III) for Ipoh will only be held this weekend, by the way, due to a postponement.

Anyway, I checked the schedule for PIKOM PC Fair 2010 (I) for Ipoh and it will be held on the weekend of 30th April, 2010 until 2nd May, 2010. Oh, that’s the Labour Day weekend, and I expect the event to be full house.

Although I will be missing PIKOM PC Fair 2009 (III) this weekend in Ipoh, with the two Fairs so close to each other, I think I should just save more money and shop at the next PC Fair. I should be able to make it then.

Buy Aion Game Currency, Kinah

As an avid online gamer, playing multiple games, I try my best to only play free online games. However, there are a couple of games that I like to play so much, I don’t mind paying some money, either in the form of monthly subscription fee or to exchange real money for virtual currency. I guess I couldn’t wait to grow my game character!

If you are playing Aion, a relatively new MMORPG, then you may be interested to know that you can now buy aion kinah, the game currency, easily from VBarrack.com. Clicking on this link that I have provided, you can see that there are six Aion US Kinah packages available, from as low as US$75.20 for 10 million Kinah to as high as US$285.90 for 40 million Kinah.

Like I said, buying Kinah is easy. Just select the package that you want, select the correct game server and faction and enter the name of your character. Then click on the ORDER NOW button.

VBarrack, which stands for Virtual Barrack, doesn’t just sell Aion US Kinah. You can also buy Aion EU Kinah as well as WoW US and EU Gold to enhance your game play. If you are like me, and don’t like to start a game character from scratch, you can even buy a WoW or Aion account too!

Facebook No. 1 Visited Site In the US On Christmas Day

Facebook became the number one visited website in the United States on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, beating Google.com for the first time, according to HitWise. Do take note that only traffic to Google.com, the main website, was taken into account.

I am not surprised, actually, since I myself spent a lot of time on Facebook.com this year, even on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, even though I didn’t have a good feeling about social networking websites when I first registered for an account because I don’t want my friends to get to know my other friends, if you know what I mean.

I guess what pushed traffic to Facebook over the Christmas holidays and I anticipate, the New Year holidays, is all the game applications hosted on Facebook that lured us to log in to our games because of special Christmas goodies or loot. How can we forgo the chance to get our grubby hands on some holiday specials, even if they are just virtual items?

And now for the New Year, games like Mafia Wars, FishVille and FarmVille, just to quote some games by Zynga, have promised us some New Year specials. Tell me, how could we NOT log in even on New Year’s Day?

MyBlogLog May Get The Axe

Yahoo! have posted on their blog that they are considering the future of MyBlogLog, a cross-blog social network that Yahoo! acquired in January, 2007 for US$10 million, and giving it the axe is one of the options.

Over the past couple of years, Yahoo! have already shut down a series of services to trim costs from Yahoo! Briefcase to Yahoo! Photos to Geocities to Yahoo! 360° and really, I wouldn’t be surprised if MyBlogLog gets the same treatment from Yahoo! as well even if they have spent millions to acquire these services in the first place.

With all these Yahoo! services being shut down, I am just glad that I have never been a heavy user of Yahoo, except for Yahoo! Mail and that also only for subscribing to mailing lists that may spam.

If you are a user of MyBlogLog, especially if you are a premium user, you may want to keep yourself updated on this issue.

Break the Cycle of Failed New Year’s Resolutions with New Book, Achieve Anything in Just One Year

This is a sponsored guest post written by Jason Harvey on behalf of Achieve Anything In Just One Year. Post powered by Sponzai.

On January 1, more than 100 million Americans will make a New Year’s resolution, according to a University of Washington survey. By March, however, most resolution-makers will already have broken their newly minted promises.

In his new book, Achieve Anything in Just One Year: Be Inspired Daily to Live Your Dreams and Accomplish Your Goals (Amazing Life Press, $29.95, http://www.amazinglifepress.com/), Jason Harvey provides a blueprint for personal success that can make 2010 the year that resolutions become reality.

Most resolutions fail because people try to change too fast and accomplish too much all at once,” said Harvey, a Certified Life Coach. “My book is about learning how to make small daily changes and be your own personal life coach.”

The most common resolutions – to quit smoking, lose weight, exercise more, spend more quality time with family, etc. – are also the easiest to break. “The truth is, we set ourselves up to fail by making resolutions that are sweeping and unrealistic,” explained Harvey.

The resulting cycle of making and breaking promises is self-defeating – so how can individuals make resolutions stick? Achieve Anything in Just One Year equips readers with the tools to:

  • Be truly committed.Don’t just go through the motions – act like you’re making a promise to your company, or to your best friend.
  • Be specific. A resolution like “I want to lose weight” is easier to ignore than “I want to lose five pounds by March.”
  • Set a deadline. A timeframe equals commitment and helps quantify success.
  • Avoid overwhelming yourself. You may want to lose weight, quit smoking, achieve moderation with martinis and cut up your credit cards all at once, but let’s get real. Focus on a limited set of goals and plan on taking stock mid-year.
  • Change one thing at a time. Recognize that change is hard. Wait to achieve one goal before starting on the next.
  • Be realistic. Taking charge of a fitness regimen is a realistic goal, while exercising seven days a week may not be. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment with lofty goals.

The idea is to take daily action that creates a ripple effect in your life,” said Harvey. “By transforming your life with small steps, you can stay motivated, focused and balanced. Best of all, you’ll feel happier about pursuing your personal success.”

Undersea Fiber Optic Cable Ready In January, 2010

The undersea fiber optic cable that links South East Asia to America, a collaborative effort by leading telecommunications companies in the region, including Telekom Malaysia (TM), is said to be ready for service in January, 2010.

All of us here who need high speed internet connection are excited with the impending new service (cable carries a bandwidth of 1.92 terabits per second) but I can’t help but wonder how much we will be charged.

At the moment, I am paying MYR110 monthly for a 1MB package while my friends, who are subscribed to a 4MB package, only pay MYR160! The difference in price is so slight yet I am only getting a quarter of their speed but what could I do when the area I am living in does not support that speed? SIGH!

I know that at first, this new package will be expensive but I think that it would be a breakthrough and sooner or later, the price will drop. Perhaps then would be a good time to switch subscriptions!
