Facebook Delete Account Button

Facebook has rolled out a new feature to selected accounts which enables them to delete or deactivate their accounts, for whatever reason. Previously, users would have to search through the FAQ to do so, and it would require two weeks for the account to be deleted.

Now, for the small pool of accounts, but will eventually be available on all accounts of 500 million users and counting, this deactivate or delete account button will be accessible under Account Settings tab.

This is going to be good for people who would like to cancel their account, perhaps they feel that the security has been compromised or something or for people who have grown tired of social networking.

If you use Facebook, do you already have this button available to you? Are you planning to use it at all?

Miley Cyrus to Kids: Avoid Facebook

Miley Cyrus, has made a public statement to children to avoid Facebook after learning about a 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped by a man who used the social networking website to gain access to her information.

While I think that it’s great that Miley Cyrus is so outspoken about the case, if not mistaken, Facebook has an age requirement for registration and kids as young as 13 is definitely not allowed to register.

Parents are to be blamed for allowing their kids free hand on the information super highway. How could one ignore the internet? It’s the best thing that happened on earth, me thinks, but like everything in life, there are always people who would misuse a god thing.

Avoiding something is not the solution. Being educated about it is.

TransUnion Class Action Lawsuit

If you have applied for credit in the United States between 1987 to 2000, then TransUnion probably owes you money! There is a TransUnion Class Action Lawsuit, if you haven’t already know yet, and O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath is offering free consultation to anyone is has been a victim of TransUnion, a credit company, that has allegedly illegally sold credit information of their customers to marketing companies who then, as you know, would take every opportunity to spam whoever that have been placed on their mailing list.

At least point, I do not know the quantum of claims that victims are eligible but it is said that people affected by this action by TransUnion would be entitled to monetary compensation from a pre-established fund of $75 million. That’s a huge amount of money. To see if you are eligible and your course of action, visit the website of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath.

Facebook Safety Page

Facebook has set up a Safety Page on its own social network site to educate people on internet safety. The page will highlight news and initiatives by Facebook on keeping data of users safe online in general and on the social network website in particular.

In a blog post, Joe Sullivan of Facebook mentions that online data security is a shared responsibility and that we should all help each other to stay safe, with the initiatives introduced by Facebook.

I think that if Facebook do not always mess around with our privacy settings without prior notice, or even with notice, they shouldn’t just simply revert our settings to default, wasting our time making changes yet again, then we should be safe! So this Safety Page isn’t even necessary in the first place!

Play Around in Memphis

This is a sponsored guest post written by Memphis Travel on behalf of Memphis CVB. Post powered by Sponzai.

More than just the home of the blues and barbeque, Memphis gives you plenty of ways to play around, with fun things to do no matter who you are or what you like. Of course, if you’re into Elvis, rock-and-roll and mouth-watering ribs, you’ve got to check out Graceland, Sun Studios, and the Rendezvous. But Memphis has much more to offer than this holy trinity of southern culture, with enough to see, do and eat to make it the perfect location for your next long weekend getaway.
The families out there (or the wild at heart) should be sure to check out the Memphis Zoo, one of only four U.S. zoos with giant pandas. Recently ranked the #1 zoo in the U.S. by TripAdvisor.com, the Memphis Zoo lets you get up close and personal with the animal kingdom. And with the recent addition the Northwest Passage, home to Polar bears in a see-through underwater exhibit, and the zoo’s newest section, Teton Trek, kids and adults alike are certain to have a blast.
Don’t let your midtown experience stop at the zoo; the Cooper-Young and Overton Square neighborhoods are just down the street. Ask a local Memphian where to find a tasty bite to eat, great local music and ice cold beer, and they will probably direct you here. Speaking of beer … the environmentally conscious visitor can enjoy a locally brewed beer by Ghost River Brewing or walk through the natural landscape and educational facilities at the Lichterman Nature Center.
Memphis has museums for just about everything. From the Civil Rights Museum, Cotton Museum and Fire Museum in downtown to the Brooks Museum, Children’s Museum of Memphis and the Pink Palace Museum further east, the number of places to have fun while you learn are as bountiful as the barbeque restaurants. Families, friends, sports fans, history buffs, self-proclaimed food critics – Memphis has everything you need to keep everyone happy.
So when you visit Memphis, stay a few extra days. Even the locals don’t run out of things to do. And to make it easy, memphistravel.com is launching a new travel guide to help you plan your next vacation. Simply choose from a list of interests and you’ll be given a sample itinerary with lots of great ideas. You can also register for a chance to win one of twelve trip packages that include tours, gift certificates to Memphis’ favorite restaurants, hotel stays and more. Zynga Aims To Be Google of Gaming

The founder of Zynga, a social gaming company, fresh off another round of funding, has stated that he aims to bring the company to the next level, on par with Google in the games department of the web.

While this is not impossible, many of us who have been playing games on Facebook and other social gaming networks, are getting bored with the “never-ending” games. Zynga, of course, keeps adding new features to the games, new challenges and stuff. Although I still play a handful of Zynga games like Mafia Wars and Treasure Isle on a daily basis, a lot of my friends have stopped and moved on to other games, or even other things outside of the online world.

The reason I like playing some primarily text based games like Mafia Wars is because I like games that don’t take a lifetime to load. However, glitches in the games, if you play on Facebook, you would encounter lots of glitches now and then on these still in Beta games, and that would cause us to lose interest fairly quickly.

How long would it take Zynga to rule the online gaming world? It took Facebook 4.5 years to garner a user base of 100 million while it only took Zynga 2.5 years, though we must remember that both these figures are inflated due to duplicated accounts.
