I’ve been following Motorola Mobility’s Xoom tablet introduction and launch and I would say it had at least been three months, if not more. Hence, I was a little puzzled that just as Motorola launches Xoom it has been slapped with a trademark lawsuit by an internet payment company, Xoom, for breaching its trademark.
Now, those of us who are online, especially those who follow technology news, would surely have heard of Motorola’s Xoom already. It even won an award at a recent conference, didn’t it? So I don’t really understand why this trademark holder only comes into the scene now when Xoom is launched and all the tablets are ready to be shipped…
This makes me think that the trademark holder doesn’t really care about its name being used but just wanted to be bought out. This makes me wonder how much Motorola is willing to pay to continue to be able to use Xoom. What do you think?
