My friend, a photojournalist, sent me a text message the other day, telling me that his photos of a luxurious retreat were not retrievable from his camera’s memory card. He said that he’s lucky he took some photos using his mobile phone camera, though it’s a pity that the quality is not great. I offered to email him some of my photos but photojournalists derive satisfaction from seeing the beautiful photos that they have shot themselves. I certainly understand his disappointment.
I just came across this Photo Recovery Software which I think he should try. His memory card was somehow corrupted and he was forced to format it. According to the website of Hetman Recovery, this is not a big deal.
I like it that this photo recovery software will scan and recover images from hard, external, USB drives, memory cards for free. If you are satisfied with the images that the software managed to recover, you have to buy it in order to save the images. This means that you only pay if you are happy with the software.
If you take a lot of photos, this is the software that you should have. You wouldn’t want to lose your images that have been accidentally deleted. Come to think of it, it’s high time I try restoring photos of my two dogs.
Google and Motorola have announced that Google will purchase Motorola Mobility for US$12.5 billion by the end of this year. A few months ago, if I remember correctly, Motorola split their company into two, both companies handling different aspects of the business.
Motorola Mobility is the one that manufactures mobile phones while Motorola Solutions handles other scope of technologies. Google is only purchasing Motorola Mobility. While Google says that they will continue to run Motorola Mobility as a separate entity, acquiring the company will allow Google to continue to run their Android mobile operating system in a bigger way.
Motorola, once the leader in mobile manufacturing, has fallen behind in recent years but this sale will give their brand name a tremendous boost.
Last month, a friend told me that authorities in China have uncovered a fake Apple Store. I didn’t read the papers as I was travelling. Today, I read that there were 22 fake Apple Stores uncovered recently in a city in China. If there are so many in one city, can you imagine other similar fake stores in other major cities in China?
According to the news report which my friend read, the stores seem so real, even the employees thought they were working for the real Apple. Can you believe that? Who could blame the customers for thinking that they are shopping at a real Apple Store?
The weird thing is that, according to the news, products purchased at these fake Apple Stores all carry valid warranties. Hhmm this means that the products are not imitations, just the store front. LOL
This post brought to you by Net10. All opinions are 100% mine.
My sister told me that subscribing to her mobile phone and mobile data plan is getting more and more expensive because her telco no longer offers unlimited plans. Well, today, I found out that Net10 Unlimited is a very good deal because it offers nationwide coverage with excellent reception and connectivity and unlimited talk, text and data for only a flat fee of $50 monthly.
What I like about this Net10 Unlimited plan is that it is contract-free, no surprise charges and credit checks are not required. Also, Net10 Unlimited only uses trusted major mobile phone brands like Nokia, Samsung and Motorola.
Net10 Unlimited is actually a simple concept. Just pay $50 for 30 days of service which allows you to use your phone to make and receive calls, send and receive text messages, surf the internet and email. Once the 30 days are over, pay another $50 to enjoy another 30 days of unlimited use of the phone.
This is an awesome plan for those who use their phone a lot, especially those who are in a long distance relationship and even for business use, where voice calls and email are the main lines of communication between office branches throughout the country.
For individuals who think that $50 is more than their normal monthly usage, they could always opt for easy minutes plans, which starts from a low $15 for 200 minutes. Or they could even opt for the Pay-As-You-Go plans. Since there are no contracts, users can switch plans easily to suit their budget and usage when they feel like doing so. It’s very convenient as airtime can be purchased online at the Net10 website or at a neighborhood store or even from the phone itself.
In addition to domestic plans, Net10 also offers international plans which allow users to make calls to 75 countries at a low rate from 15 cents per minute when calling from the United States. Currently, International Neighbors Program is available to Canada and Mexico. This means that Net10 users will have a special phone number that friends and family in Canada and Mexico can call to reach their Net10 number.
Net10 phones available for the various plans suit the requirements of different segments of users. They range from basic mobile phones to smart phones, for under $60 only.
Here is testimonial video of a real NET10 customer describing how much money she has saved monthly since switching to Net10.

An American man who was charged for spamming Facebook social network, using robots to bypass spam filters and posting messages on the wall of users and harvesting log in credentials of approximately 500,000 users between November 2008 and March 2009, has turned himself in. During this time, about 27 million spam messages were spent out.
Sanford Wallace is known as the “Spam King” but he has denied the charges against him brought by Facebook. One should note that he lost a civil suit against MySpace in 2008 also for sending out junk messages to members of MySpace.
I read an article on a new report released by a cyber security company that Myanmar has been found as the “most dangerous country” in the world when it comes to cyber threat. It is followed by the United States at number two, Taiwan at number three, Russia at number four and China at number five.
1. Myanmar
2. United States
3. Taiwan
4. Russia
5. China
This quarterly statement by Akamai called “State of the Internet Report” stated that it’s unusual for Myanmar to suddenly appear, when the company has been tracking cyber threats for the past four years.
While surfing the internet last evening, I came across a recent Avastin lawsuit. My aunt died of cancer just a year ago and so I am always reading about cancer drugs and cancer cure.
Avastin was said to be able to stunt the growth of breast cancer cells, hence slowing its spread in the body. However, it is also found that the risks of being treated with Avastin include high blood pressure, heart attack, heart failure, bleeding and holes in the nose, stomach and intestines.
It is also ruled that the benefit of being treated with Avastin shows no added advantage, yet a patient has to be faced with multiple health risks. If you know someone who has been prescribed with Avastin, which is also known as bevacizumab, do inform her of these health risks.
