What Are The Free Online Storage Sites?

My hard disk is showing me the red alert that it is about to be full. I have an external hard disk, but some how, it could not be read from my computer. Therefore, I have been actively searching for free online storage services, hoping to transfer some of my media away from my computer, for safe keeping and to free up some space.

Although I have found quite a few, I have not commit to any company yet as I am afraid that I would encounter problems later. As you know, the internet is very fluid and some companies may not be able to withstand the challenges and competition. We have seen many seemingly strong companies terminating some of their free services, or raising their subscription fee, haven’t we?

No doubt, I will eventually have to decide on which company to go with, or even open two accounts with two companies, just to be safe, you know? I hope that meanwhile, I could still continue with my research on the best service by reading reviews and asking friends about their experiences.

If you have anything to share, do leave me a comment. I can’t hold for too long, as I continue to shoot photo after photo as an event blogger!

New Yahoo! CEO Purges 2000 Employees

The newly appointed CEO of Yahoo! Scott Thompson, has just given the pink slip to 2,000 employees, in a bid to salvage the company. One doesn’t feel “safe” working in a private company these days, unlike government jobs where employees are deemed to have “steel rice bowls”.

The internet is a very fluid economy. Now we see it, now we don’t. Yahoo! used to be THE site we all use. Now it’s Google and also Facebook. How long can Yahoo! stand the heat? They need to revamp the entire site and not clutter it up.

Google and Facebook used to be minimalists but not anymore. I don’t like them as much anymore. What about you?

Malaysia Lost RM2.75b To Cyber Crime

Did you read the report about Malaysia has lost RM2.75 billion to cyber crime over the past five years? This was revealed by an official from the national cyber security agency.

The top affected sector was finance, obviously. However, others affected included intellectual property and copyright infringement online.

A friend once told me that the only way we can stay free from cyber crime is to stop logging on to the internet and the only way we can stay from being affected by virus is to stop using the computer. Zero risk!

Angry Gran

At first, it’s Angry Birds, now it’s Angry Gran. A friend told me about it, urging me to download. But nah.. I am busy enough, I don’t need to get addicted to another game! I have already stopped playing most Facebook games, and don’t find Angry Birds nice to play at all… thankfully! I am of the mind that if I can’t win it, I don’t play it. HAHAH!

So anyone of you addicted to Angry Gran already??? Do you find it that nice to play? Have seen friends playing, but I am not going to try. Yes, I am weak. LOL

Addictive ‘Draw Something’ App

A lot of my friends are addicted to this new app called ‘Draw Something’. It’s available on Apple and Android devices, so my friends who have smart phones and tablets are all hooked to it.

Apparently, the app has already hit 20 million downloads only after five weeks since its release. That’s faster than even Angry Birds.

I have been urged by friends to download it because it is ‘so fun!’ but I have yet to succumb to the temptation. I dare not. I would get hooked! Are you playing it already?

Apple’s New iPad Delayed By 3 Days

The new iPad by Apple, I’d rather call it “iPad 3” will be delayed by three days. Those who pre-ordered online, at first were told that they will be receiving their devices this Friday, will instead receive them next Monday. The reason given was that demand for the new iPad has been off the charts. They didn’t expect this?

Anyway, an extra three day wait will seem like an eternity to all Apple fan boys and girls. Luckily I am not one of them. I don’t really like that the new iPad is thicker, bulkier and heavier!

Apple Celebrates 25 billionth Download From Its App Store

Apple celebrated its 25th billion download from its app store by releasing a list of top apps downloaded. Angry Birds is the top paid iPhone app downloaded in the UK, WhatsApp Messenger is the second, followed by Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds Seasons.

Facebook is number one in the free iPhone app category in the UK. It is followed by Facebook, Skype, eBay, Google Earth and Google Search.

As for iPad apps top paid in the UK is Apple’s word-processing app called Pages, followed by Angry Birds HD, Scrabble, GarageBand and Monopoly.

Meanwhile, the top free iPad app is BBC’s iPlayer, followed by ITV Player, Skype for iPad, 4oD Catch Up and eBay for iPad.

Basing on these lists, one can see that currently, people are using their iPhones and iPads for games, social networking and news and entertainment.
