Pretty Pissed Off

Last night, I reserved an opp and wrote it up as soon as possible. However, I was unable to publish my post on my Blogger blog. I went to the log in page but the log in box was not there! How the hell could I input my log in ID and password? I thought it was a temporary glitch. Time passed while I kept refreshing my page. I tried to go to Gmail and Google Adsense but the pages were not able to display. Only Google Search worked but it was very buggy.

I thought that Google was down and if it was, they recover quite fast because they are so efficient. So I wait a little bit more. I tried to access Blogger on my other computer but the same thing happened, without the log in box.

I used Google Search to look for an answer and to check if anyone faced the same problem. There were many people who also could not log in to Google services but their problem was different and it happened last month and that problem should have been fixed. I tried checking out some forums to see if there were complaints but there was none!

I sent my friend an SMS text and asked him to try accessing the various services and he said that he could access them and that it could be my Streamyx problem since he is using Maxis and Celcom broadband connections.

After one hour, I decided not to wait further and went ahead to published my post on my other blog. I was so upset because the post fit so well into the theme of my Blogger blog and it is just so out of place in my other blog but I had no choice.

After publishing and submitting my opp, I restarted my computer and then I had no problems with Blogger, Gmail and Adsense. You say %$&$($)&% or not? Was it Streaymx problem or my computer?

If it was computer problem, how come both computers also could not access Blogger earlier? If it was Streamyx, how could the problem be solved when I only restarted my computer and not the modem?

UUgghhh!!!

Broadway A MUST

What is a trip to London if there is no Broadway? Many of my friends go to London BECAUSE of Broadway. I have had friends complain that they did not manage to buy any tickets while they were in London and were told that tickets will only be available NEXT season. I mean like, DUH? Do they expect us to go to London every year?

My friends, go purposely make a trip to London for Broadway, utilizes Broadway Ticket Brokers to secure the much coveted tickets and then plan their trip AROUND those dates. You may think that these must be rich folks but they are not. Rather, they are so passionate about theater that they are willing to adjust their holidays around the availability of Broadway tickets.

If I have the chance to go to London, I too would be planning ahead and buy my Broadway tickets through Broadway ticket brokers first before booking my flight!

Crestor or Not?

Last weekend, my friend told me that he wasn’t feeling too well. I told him to consult a doctor which he did. He said his doctor told him to get a full blood profile to then only he could check what was wrong. My friend was rather reluctant because he said he just had a full body check up at the end of the year but I advised him to go ahead and do what the doctor suggests because he knows best.

Well, the results came in yesterday and indicated that he has rather high cholesterol. Didn’t I tell him to go be careful with his diet? Now, the doctor said that he wants to put my friend on something called Crestor. My friend and I never heard of such a thing before but thankfully there is the internet where we could check up on just about anything at all.

We stumbled upon a website that has information about Crestor for doctors and medical practitioners and read up on the drug description and possible side effects. I think it is great that we are able to receive information on the internet just like that, especially when our doctors are too busy to explain in-depth to us what benefits a drug has.

Meanwhile, the doctor is waiting for the green light from my friend to start on Crestor. I’m not going to meddle here. He has to make his own decision.

BlogBlogs Brazilian Style

I am sure you noticed how hard I have been working on building the network and backlinks of my blogs. While I was searching the internet, I came across BlogBlogs, a blog indexing social networking portal that is the fastest growing in Brazil and Portuguese speaking countries. I have to admit that so far, I have been focusing on English speaking social portals only so I was rather surprised to discover BlogBlogs.

While I do not speak Portuguese at all, I could make out the available features on BlogBlogs. Apart from being a blog indexing site, they are also a searching and ranking website so if you have a Portuguese blog, you don’t want to miss having your blog listed there since they have all the features of Technorati, MyBlogLog, Orkut and MySpace all in one portal.

The bad news is, I would like to join such a website as I believe that it could take my blogs to another level while at the same time making new friends who share the same interest as me, blogging. Unfortunately, like I mentioned, I don’t speak Portuguese.

However, the good news is that BlogBlogs will very soon go global after they have consolidated their position as the number one site in Brazil and increased the social aspects of the portal.

I am eagerly waiting for them to support English! That would be awesome!

Win USD100 From AnitoKid!

Here’s great news! A Filipino blogger who goes by the moniker AnitoKid is giving away US$100 at the end of this year in conjunction with the first anniversary of this blog, The Anitokid Chronikos – Billiards and Philippine sports. November 20, 2007 marks the day he has blogged for one full year already.

I am not sure about you, but when I visit a blog, I like to check out what are one the sidebar. I have discovered many new widgets and stuff from sidebars of blogs. AnitoKid has something that I came across for the first time. Yeah, I know I am slow but being online 24/7 does not mean that I have to know about every single thing that is released online, does it? What this widget that I like the is scrolling list of visitors by city. I think it is way cool. If I have more visitors, I may implement that!

I am surprised to see the Nuffnang ad on AnitoKid’s blog because I thought that Nuffnang is only open to Malaysian and Singaporean bloggers but I guess expats qualify as well!

I first came to know of AnitoKid from Fuel My Blog. If you check out his credentials, I am sure you will be as impressed with him as I am. In any case, no matter if you are a fan of AnitoKid or not, why not try to win USD100 off him? Just write an anniversary review his blog and then let him know of your review by email. This should be done before 12th November, 2007, 11pm Philippine time.

Good luck, to myself too!

Building Newsletters Professionally

I was surprised when I discovered that my friend has more than eight thousand people subscribing to his newsletter. I wonder how he managed to handle that many people but he told me the trick is in a newsletter software that helps to keep him organized.

Apart from managing subscribers, using MyNewsletterBuilder, he could customize his newsletters and store them online so that he could easily search it out if he needed to refer to older issues.

By publishing his newsletters online, his content is also easily picked up by the search engines because they conform to web standards hence making his text search engine friendly. Naturally, he gained a lot of traffic from this alone.

I was impressed with his professional looking newsletter but my friend revealed that it was a no-brainer to have the template and even I could make my newsletters professional looking because MyNewsletterBuilder has a wide range of templates to choose from that suits many different occasions!

For as little as $8 per month, we could easily create newsletters that would blow our subscribers away! My friend encouraged me to try the service out because there is a 60-day free trial for the newsletter software and templates. I’m afraid I would love it too much and then sign up even though my database of subscribers is small!

Technorati Authority Jumped

If you did not participate in My List, then that’s too bad! Submission is already closed. The good news is that after I added my blogs in, Technorati Authority for Blank Canvas jumped twelve notches and ** An Anonymous Journal ** jumped eight notches.

While I have previously joined a couple of DoFollow and Triple P Blogrolls, the link network was not as obvious as My List. Not that I could see anyway. After I joined DoFollow and Triple P, there was no link back that was detected and no Technorati Authority jump. However, the link backs only came in from the comments that I have left on DoFollow blogs.

Now, THAT is effective but it takes a lot of time when you have to visit the blogs, read them and leave constructive comments. Well, it’s rather fun but time consuming, like I said.

I never really paid much attention to my Technorati because it was screwed up for a long time but now that the issue is resolved, it’s time to build up my authority.

Now, I don’t really know what is so special with My List that the effect is almost instant. Perhaps it is the way they are written. Something about web-standard but, hey, who is analyzing as long as it works??
