I saw this EXCLUSIVITY option in the dashboard of one of the advertorial companies that I am a member of and I have always been curious as to what that means because there was no further information except for a form and the words, “Apply to be an exclusive member”.
Well, last night, I had the opportunity to talk to the head honcho and I suddenly remembered about this feature and I asked him what does that mean? What benefits does it bring to be an “Exclusive” member?
The boss told me that once we become an exclusive member, we would have to only serve ads from one company and no other. Whoa.. I told him, perhaps a little too late, that if he wants that kind of loyalty then his company has to provide adequate compensation to make up for the loss of income from the other advertorial network.
On the other hand, people who would find that this exclusivity works well for them are most probably people with a lower earning power with the other advertorial network.
Personally, I would not like to limit myself like this because this would mean an option less for me to earn a little extra money. This is similar to the kind of limit that bloggers face if they were told not to blog for the next 24 hours or ten days to allow that post to stay at the top of the blog for a set period of time.
Like I mentioned on those occasions, the compensation would have to be adequate to worth my while. What do you think?
