Practice Makes Perfect

The other day, I managed to successfully customize a WordPress theme all by myself. I was so damn proud because a year ago, I was totally lost in CSS coding and I would keep asking for help every single turn. I was so afraid to start my self-hosted blogs because nobody has the time to help me out and I would practically have to beg for help.

Fast forward one year later, I am now more proficient in customizing WordPress templates though I would not say that I am an expert already! I still do not feel confident enough and I am sure that I have messed certain codes that rendered it not as robot friendly but I don’t care as long as my pages display well on my browser as I want them haha!

I know a couple of people who are so good with their CSS codes that they have turned them into profitable home based business opportunities. As for me, this is not something that I would want to do on a daily basis. I would rather try my luck in sweepstakes. Depending on Lady Luck is an easier way for me to get my hands on some pocket change!

Marvelous All Inclusive Jamaica Resorts

It’s the end of the year and I have been bombarded by friends with their year end holiday planning. Oh, how I envy them! It’s high time I take a vacation as well but I just can’t seem to find the time.

From what I hear the trend now is to go on all inclusive vacations where everything will be provided for and what we have to do is just to turn up! Isn’t it exciting that we no longer have to do all the nitty gritty planning and stress out ourselves?

A friend of mine has already made reservations for one of those all inclusive resorts. According to him, these are very popular in the Caribbean and Jamaica too and I guess it is true what the many all inclusive Jamaica travel packages that I read.

If you check out the website of SuperClubs resorts, you will understand why all inclusive Jamaica resorts are so well accepted. They are simple marvelous!

Guest Blogger

Recently, I have been reading quite a few great articles on building traffic to my blogs. I have to admit that with a slew of blogs, I am left with no time to network and build my readership. One can only do so much within 24 hours a day, right?

One of the methods to build your readership is by being a guest author of a more established blog. It’s kinda funny that if you are this small blogger, do you think that established bloggers would want you as a guest? I have a couple of friends who are prominent bloggers locally but they never offered a spot for me because they are afraid that I will pollute their blogs. Haha!

I think coincidentally, John Chow recently wrote a post about building traffic via guest blogging too.

Well, guess what? This morning, I was offered a guest spot on a more established blog (than mine) and of course I would love to take up but I wonder what I should write about and if my piece(s) would be well accepted. You know, I would like to think that I could write about anything and everything but the truth may be far from it. Hahah!

Are Your Christmas Gifts Ready?

Last night, I was preparing my list of Christmas gifts when I wondered what items to get this year. It is getting increasingly difficult to find appropriate gifts for friends and family. Anyway, I remember coming across a website that prints photo blankets.

When I first came across this innovative service by Vision Bedding which not only prints photo blankets but PERSONALIZED photo blankets, I was amazed that these printed blankets look so real like an art on canvas.

I think that Photo Blanket will make a great gift because the recipient will see how much thought we have put into this gift with the photo selection, uploading and choosing the photo layout to bring the best out of our photo and adding our personal message too. The screenshot I have enclosed here is just one of the many layouts that are available.

If you would like to give something different this Christmas, try Vision Bedding’s personalized photo blankets. After all, Christmas is also about the joy of giving!

How To Widgetize A Theme?

Well, I don’t know, what’s why I am asking! For the past three months, I have been trying to find just the “perfect” WordPress theme but is seems that every time I found one that I actually would like to use without heavy customization, it is not widget-ready!

Sure, there’s a little tutorial in the WordPress site but that might as well be Greek for all I understand it!

So I know of a guy who offered to help people with technical stuff in his blog. I wrote in and he told me to check the WordPress themes website. Duh… I already browsed through the site numerous times but could not find something that I like enough to use for the long term.

So it’s back to more searching!!! GGGrrrr

Get Your Pet Care Questions Answered

In March, I wrote a post called “Blogging Vet” where I suggested to my Vet to set up a blog and website to answer whatever concerns pet owners have as a value added service to the owners of his patients. I made this suggestion during the two weeks I spent at his surgery when my dog was gravely ill. He cured my pet and I was very impressed. Unfortunately, he told me that he did not have the time and so my suggestion fell on the way side though he agreed that it is a good idea.

This afternoon, I was told of an online pet advisor site called Pet Advisor. The tagline of the site is “Happy Pets=Peace of Mind”. I have to agree with this completely because I have two senior dogs that fall ill rather regularly and I absolutely do not have any mood at all if they so much as feel a little unwell.

Televets is a great resource site where we get to read many articles on our pets but the core concern of this site to answer questions from pet owners. Each question is only $6 and I think it is absolutely worthy because it costs more taking our pet to our local vet. To read the questions and answers that have been archived only costs us $1.

If I were to pose a question on Televets, I would like to ask how to prevent reoccurrence of bladder stone in my dog.

Do You Want To Appear In The Fuel My Blog Book?

About a month ago, I received an email from the Fuel My Blog team about their idea of publishing a book of bloggers who are on Fuel My Blog. I thought that is a pretty neat idea but I am publicity shy and always prefer to keep a low profile.

Anyway, this book is taking shape right now so if you would love this chance to talk about your blog and show the real human side of yourself behind the blog, all you have to do is register with Fuel My Blog, if you aren’t already, and submit a photo of yourself and a short write up about your blog, why you blog, what inspires you, bla bla bla… you get the drift!

Here is a screenshot of how the book will look like.

From what I understand, the book is only about US$20 per copy inclusive of delivery and you can buy as many copies as you like. 15% of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

Now, if you would like to get into the book, act fast. The idea is to have the book published and shipped in time for Christmas so that you can show if off to your guests. The book makes a great gift as well, particularly if you are in it. Don’t you think so?
