What I Dread This Christmas

It’s Christmas in a week’s time and do you know what I hate the most? It’s the family gathering. Coming from a family of scholars, it is hard not to feel small when talking to them because they keep asking me when I will continue with my education.

I tell myself, I am way too old to continue with it and whatever I study will not be used in real world, anyway, so why waste my money and the lecturer’s time, right?

I mentioned some months ago that my Uncle, an advocate of distance learning and online education, told me about capella university and asked me to check it out as there would be a course of my liking. Unfortunately, I haven’t the time!!! All I know is that they have a full range of courses from certificate programs right up to Post graduate studies and that this online university serves students worldwide.

I guess I need to go a little homework and prepare myself from their tirade of questions!

Business Cards For Bloggers

I am sure most of us have been very happy to play with the virtual business card for bloggers recently. However, how many of us serious bloggers have business cards?

I have been a customer of Vista Print for business cards, among other products, for both my online business and blogging and I give them the thumbs up for excellent customer service, product quality and fast shipping. I showed my friend, an artist, my new cards and he said the colors are very vibrant and real.

With so many blogs and websites, I figured that I needed a card specifically for blogging and I am glad that I could do it without incurring a high cost. At Vista Print, which you could visit at http://www.vistaprint.com, you can opt for their free business cards choosing from their range of ready made templates, where you ONLY pay for shipping and handling, or premium business cards. Of course, I urge everyone to get the premium cards as you would be able to use your own template and logo by uploading them and totally customize your cards.

For my premium business cards, I used Vista Print’s logo creator and it was a breeze. It was so simple to use, fast and I dare say the finished product is a class above! There is absolutely no worry about getting my printed products from Vista Print because I am thoroughly satisfied with the few times that I ordered my products from them.

If you run more than a couple of blogs, I think your should have your own business card specifically for blogging. It does show your seriousness as a blogger.

iPhone AutoComplete Email Address

Yesterday, I sent out an image via email to a friend from my iPhone. I didn’t get his email address from my Gmail Contacts and he is not in the contacts of my phone so I had to do it manually.

Well, no thanks to all the numbers in his email address and the still to be gotten used to touch screen keypad, I typed in the wrong address.

I got his address right the second time but then the email address with the error has appeared in my list of AutoComplete email addresses, or is it Most Recently Used list of email addresses?

Whatever the case, the WRONG email address is now there and there is no way for me to delete it from my list. Like everyone before me, I have cleared my email that was sent in error from my Inbox, Sent Box, All Mail and Trash but it is still there.

I read that the only thing to do to take away the offending email addresses is to do a restore. Ackkkk….Tell me THAT is not the stupidest thing.

Where To Look For Austin Commercial Real Estate

My friend, Paul, told me that he has plans to expand his business and start an office in Austin. Right now, he has an office in New York City which he is confident that he could leave the daily management to his brother.

Well, if like Paul, you are also looking for Austin office space, you should check out the website of Don Cox.

With a wealth of experience gained from more than twenty five years in this business and knowing the ins and outs of the commercial real estate market in Austin and its surrounding areas, I think that one would not have a problem looking for a suitable property that meets his needs and budget.

Alexa Reading Mismatch

Although many people have said that Alexa is inaccurate, I would still like to see mine go lower and lower. I know that Alexa is no longer relevant but since I have entered this “trade”, I have received training to checking on my page-rank, Alexa reading, Technorati reading and whatever other rank there is. One of the latest that I check is Complete.

For a few days, I noticed that my Alexa reading on the toolbar and the one on my Alexa button that I have embedded on my blog are showing different figures. I know that one of them takes a little time to update but A FEW DAYS is way too long. LOL Can you imagine one of them being updated only to have a new reading?

One would think that a web-based application should be REAL-TIME, don’t you think so?

Bridging The Distance With Family Websites

Although I have many websites, they are all personal sites. It never crossed my mind to set up a family website until I was told of Family Crossings. After checking this site out, I think that it is an excellent idea to have such family websites for families which are spread far and wide. Fro example, I have families in various cities in the United States, in London, Singapore, Gold Coast in Australia and of course in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, in Malaysia.

Naturally, and unfortunately, we do not get to meet up all that often unless it is a major family event when we are all obligated to attend. With such a family website as provided by Family Crossings at http://www.familycrossings.com, we would be able to share our life with family in the other side of the world.

Family Crossings provide us with the tools to set up such a family site without the hassle or technical know-how. It’s free too! However, if we would like to get rid of the advertisements that support the free account, then we could opt for an upgrade and pay only $9.95 per month. I think this is well worth the money because if we share the cost of maintaining this site among our family members, each of us will only have to pay $1 per month, or less. Tell me this is NOT affordable??

AstroView Magazine

I have been receiving mailers asking me to subscribe to AstroView magazine and it is said that subscribers will receive complimentary copies twelve months or less, depending on when we opt for the free subscription.

However, the fine print says that this “offer” is only valid for people who are subscribed to Astro before February, 2008. That means that I do qualify since mine was activated sometime in June, 2007.

HHmm does this mean that there will no longer be the Astro Guide that we are familiar with? If I do not opt for this one year of complimentary copies, does it mean that I no longer will receive ANY guide from Astro? This is just so vague!

Although I love freebies, I hate the fact that we would only be getting this freebie for twelve months and I would have to keep remembering to cancel my subscription in time so as not to be billed.

Arghh so insincere! TV guides should come free to customers. So what if they upgraded the magazine to be glossier than the previous version? They can, however, sell them at newsstands if they want.

Are you opting for the free issues of AstroView magazine?? I don’t know if I should since I don’t even have time to read them.
