Vedis Scratched My Back. Will You?

A couple of days after I implemented ScratchBack, Vedis, who occasionally comes to read my blogs, bought a slot from me. Thank you very much, Vedis. It’s cheap, only $2 and after giving the commission to ScratchBack and then PayPal, I am not sure how much I will be getting but then a little something extra will always add up.

ScratchBack provides good exposure for your blog or website but it is nofollow and while you will not be getting any link juice, it is not frown upon by the Search Engines.

I actually joined ScratchBack a long time ago but did not have the chance to implement the widget on my blog due to limitations of my old WordPress theme. The sidebar was not wide enough and I didn’t know if I could narrow down the widget but now that I have it on my blog, I hope that it will fill up soon. Hey, there are only FIVE slots…. :(

Robots.txt

Yesterday, while blog hopping, I came across a blog article, I don’t even remember where anymore, that the author said that we should create a robots.txt and upload it in the root directory of our server and this will cause the search engines to better crawl our blog and hence would not return as many errors as a blog without the robots.txt file.

Some people who already did this have reported an increase in blog traffic and one person even says that his traffic went up by more than 11%. That’s a lot of traffic which I could certainly do with.

As you can tell, yes, I already included the robots.txt file to all my WordPress blogs which I also added in my sitemap and then submitted the file to my Google webmaster account.

Since doing this, I did not notice any increase in traffic specifically from the search engines and I haven’t found the time to check the status of this from my Google Webmaster account.

Let’s give it a week and see what happens. I hope I don’t have to mess with anything technical and just blog but then there are times when there’s a call to get my hands dirty. Bah!!!

Have You Heard of Kona Kava?

I was told of this super supplement drink and promptly forgot about it until my friend brought up the subject today. According to him, this is a very popular drink in Hawaii, and if not mistaken, in Fiji too! I think that Kona roots can grow naturally in islands and that’s why they are so popular.

I was told that by the nature of the soil, kona kava roots grow abundantly and make very nutritious coffee and the Hawaiian people are so industrious that they came up with many different types of supplements from the Kona Kava roots in the form of a drink, paste and even in capsule form.

If you have been wondering what type of coffee this is, you should check out the site of Kona Kava Farm. You will even be able to get kava kava recipes from the site besides reading more on the Kona Kava roots and extracts and how they are beneficial to our health.

Convenience of No Fax Payday Loans

A couple of days ago, I saw from my blog statistics that someone searched for ways to get fast cash of $2000 and landed on my blog. I know the feeling of being in a financial fix that requires emergency cash that I did not have on hand. I wish that back then, I could search the internet for options too.

I am sure by now, most people would have heard of No Fax Payday Loans. Back then, I also utilized a service like that but it was not called “payday loan” and neither was it legal unlike people now who have access to fast cash legally now and it’s legal and hassle-free as well.

Although some people scoff at the idea of applying for no fax payday loans, you have to admit that sometimes life gives us no choices. To some people, no fax payday loans would be the answer out of the financial woes even if it is for the short term only.

This morning, I came across the website of Oasis Payday Loans which provides instant approval for no fax payday loan applications throughout the United States. See, didn’t I tell you that it is way easier to get a loan now than it was for me years ago?

A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. Boo Boo

I am sure by now everyone knows about the domain name expiration of A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. yesterday. Well, what an ultra boo boo. I mean, keeping the domain name active is like the basics of running a website. How expensive could renewal of a domain name be? Mine is renewed until 2014 because I definitely do not want something like that to happen to my sites even though they are not a business concern like A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s.

Well, last evening slightly after 5pm, I logged on to my blog about to make a post but discovered that my blogs have been hijacked by advertisements. Prior to that, I did access to A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. and found that the domain name had expired and I thought that this advertisement company somehow hijacked my blogs like it sometimes will.

So I tried to access my blogs from my iPhone since Safari would be a clean browser. Well, same issue. I thought fleetingly that it could have been an issue with my web host but then after checking another blog of mine that does not have A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. ad codes implemented and checking other blogs that I know for sure are publishers of A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s., I soon took down all A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. codes from all my blogs and regained access to them.

What pissed me off was that I wanted to blog and there I was forced to do the technical stuff or else I could not even access my own blog. I had to remove them pronto as I would be losing traffic but thankfully I found out early. Also, I just added new ad codes to my blog after I changed my WordPress theme, as I wanted to increase my A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. revenue from the RM0.001 – RM0.004 (ya, I am shocked too!) that I am getting a day and it’s not even a week that I had to remove them all, ON 5 blogs, man. You think I’m so free, meh??

I remember telling my friend what a pity it is that everyone is waiting for A.d.v.e.r.t.l.e.t.s. to go down. I mean, I don’t mind the company or the Boss and I did receive my first cheque of RM110 from them a week ago and won a prize package in a recent contest held by the company. Do you know what my friend replied? “He deserves to go down.”

Alamak….. this episode with the domain name expiration isn’t going to help his reputation. I would have called the Boss up if I have his mobile number but there was no way that I could alert him. Well, now that the codes are off, I am not sure when I will be re-implementing them again. It IS a lot of work, you know? I am sure that I am not the only one dragging my feet placing those codes again. I wonder how many publishers they are losing because of this. Unlike other people, I don’t want them to go down.

Predator Headlamp For Outdoor And Indoor Use

My father is an outdoors person and is always going on weekend excursions with his buddies for camping, fishing and hunting. This stemmed from his school days when he was a King Scout. Sometimes, we go as a family too.

Just now, I saw this outdoor sports and military gear online store and I think that it would be a great surprise to him if I get him something that he could use in one of his weekend adventures. The Predator headlamp is a great item because by using this headlamp, he could keep his hands free for something else. This is not only great for outdoors but for doing handyman work around the house. Yes, my father is one of those DIY men as well.

This Predator headlamp is selling at $14.53 only and I think it is very affordable but most of all, it is useful and light so that it is easy to carry around tied to the head. It is powered by two AA Alkaline batteries which makes this headlamp so much more affordable to use.

Cleaning Up My Databases

After upgrading all my WordPress, plug-ins and this theme, I have been spent the past couple of hours cleaning up the databases of my hosting. You know, I have so many sub-domains, domains and add-on domains in there but only a handful of them are actually used and updated regularly, that I figured that I better get the clutter away before it gets unmanageable.

All these were at first done by my web hosts but now they don’t care about me anymore so I could not just shoot them an email requesting for stuff to be done. I had to be hands-on this time.

I was so afraid that I would end up deleting what I want and then mess up my blogs that I use to cari makan. I can’t afford that at all! so I was actually said a prayer when my blogs could still be accessed like normal when I have finished with the internal cleaning. I did back up my files before hand, just in case. I am such a noob!
