I Hate Pop Ups

I noticed that more and more bloggers have implemented pop up advertising on their blogs. I absolutely hate them. More than I have those in line advertising that pops up a bubble if we so much as hover our cursor over a link in post, accidentally.

I don’t know about you I find that these pop ups jams up my browser for a couple of minutes when I access blogs that have pop ups, especially for the first time when I do not know that they have pop ups.

And I would think that somehow the browser was jammed and I was forced to close it, losing all my other windows since I use tabbed browsing. I HATE IT!

Maybe my internet connection is slow, maybe my computer is old and could not handle the strain but I think that I am not suing equipment that shabby or my line is that crappy so if I face this problem then so would have the internet browsers.

Maybe I am naive and I do not know the earning potential of these pop up or pop under windows to the bloggers but I think that they are totally not worth it!

Showing Off Airsoft Guns

My friend invited me to watch him play paintball last weekend. He said that I have been sitting in front of the computer for too long and I need to play. I don’t want to play paintball because I saw how he suffered from blue blacks all over his body a couple of months ago during a tournament.

But I went a long to watch because I knew he wanted to show off me his new airsoft guns. he said that he bought them online after wasting time looking for them at local stores.

According to him, online stores like ZephyrAirsoft.com have a complete range of airsoft guns and paintball equipment and gear while local stores only have selected items. He didn’t want to wait so he bought them directly from specialized stores. Besides, he was surprised that the prices were very reasonable too and the wait time was short.

Facebook Files Suit Against German Social Portal StudiVZ

Facebook is taking German social network portal StudiVZ to the courts for being a copycat and is seeking an undisclosed amount of money as damages. It is funny that Facebook itself had been embroiled in a lawsuit with ConnectU which accused Facebook for stealing its idea.

So the gist is that Facebook stole the idea from ConnectU but StudiVZ stole the same idea from Facebook. Get it? Of course, no party has admitted to it. Even if they did, would they admit? No, right?

StudiVZ meanwhile has stated that Facebook is only jealous that they are unable to penetrate the German market while StudiVZ has ten million German members. That’s quite a number there.

I enclosed a screenshot each of Facebook and StudiVZ so that you can compare them and see if StudiVZ has copied Facebook and if Facebook has a case against StudiVZ. What do you think? You be the judge!

Doing It While We Could

When I wrote about collecting menstrual blood and harvesting stem cells from there, my male friends were very tickled, even though this is a non-invasive procedure and done at the comfort of our own homes.

Laugh as they will, they do not yet realize that if it is unfortunate that they require stem cells in the future for medical reasons, they would not have these cells unless they have a sister who has had her stem cells from menstrual fluid stored and preserved! See how important it is to think far into the future?

Whether you are male or female, you should read the C’elle website on their innovative stem cell solutions particularly for women. This may sound funny to some but understanding why this has to be done will be very helpful. For more information, you can also read C’elle Client Testimonial

As a woman, I try to tell as many of my friends as possible that we could do this for ourselves and our love ones. In fact, we all MUST. Do it while we are young, do it while we still could.

WordPress 2.6 Released

It was released a few days ago. This time, I will refrain from upgrading. Perhaps I will wait a little longer. How many WordPress blogs do I have already? It is tiresome, I tell you. I would rather just spend time blogging instead of taking care of the technical aspects of a blog. I am not going to be an early adopter this time. LOL

Whatever, WordPress 2.6 brings us improvements from 2.5, like a new upgrade always does. And get it: it fixes a total of 194 bugs!!! I never knew there are so many bugs crawling around my WP 2.5 blogs! LOL

I am glad to note that they have revamped the entire image control and handling. Also, theme preview is a great new feature. Anyway, I wonder if they have brought back drag and drop of widget. I miss that convenience but I will soon know, I guess.

So have you updated you WordPress already?

P/S: After holding from upgrading, I read that some people had the categories of their blogs broken. There IS a solution but it is a lot of hassle, and only for people who know what they are doing. Boy, am I glad that I stuck to my guts this time.

Filing An Insurance Claim

I was going through my old correspondence when I stumbled upon an email from a friend who told me that a mutual friend was involved in an industrial accident and he was having a hard time making am insurance claim.

Back then, i did not know of the services offered by an Omaha Personal Injury Attorney in Nebraska or I would have told him about it as this case happened in Nebraska too though not Omaha.

Larry R. Demerath of Demerath Law Office offers free consultation and is an experienced personal injury lawyer. He would have been able to assist our friend. I find it ironic that it is not enough that a person is injured, but had to jump though fire hoops in order to claim his rightful compensation!

How Much Is Facebook Worth?

So the courts have ruled that Facebook is not worth US$15billion but “only” US$3.75 billion. Would any investor be willing to fork out this amount of money to take over the company, or buy some stocks? I think that prices for virtual commodities are always overrated. If you are an investor, you should seriously think about its inflated value.

In the case of Facebook, I know that companies seeking to buy shares look at its advertisement potential. When it comes to membership based websites, you need to show the number of members you have, traffic levels and the amount of time unique visitors are spending at the website.

However, investors are not users and they are not at the user-level. They do not know that even membership count is inflated. My friend and his friends have multiple accounts per person and when you advertise to a hundred members, you are actually doing so to about seventy members.

So Facebook is actually the same as other social website during the dot com boom. I really do not see anything special about Facebook that I have not used before in one social networking site or another.
