Retribution by Richard A. Yacenda

Reading has always been my one great passion, so much so that I even dreamed of being an author. However, I soon became obsessed with blogging and not only do I not have the time to read, I can forget about being a great author.

Retribution book cover

This morning, I was introduced to a new suspense novel titled “Retribution, by Richard A. Yacenda. I understand that this is his first novel and I am impressed that he has chosen to tackle a suspense novel.

Author Richard A. Yacenda

Retribution is set in New York, where Richard himself is a native of, so he is really familiar with the place, though he now lives in Boca Raton, Florida with his wife. Reading through a couple of chapters, I would say that this novel is very engaging and keeps one on the edge of the seat. You know that sometimes we come across books that make us want to finish the whole book in one sitting? Retribution is one such rare book. At least that is what it does to me.

Be warned that this is a suspense novel that is about the gruesome killing of eight men. It’s brutal, vicious and graphic so it is not for the faint hearted. However, if this is the kind of plot you enjoy, I say, go for it!

Google Commemorates the Olympics

If you are a regular user of Google Search, you will know that they sometimes change their “Google” logo to commemorate an event. Today, Google celebrates the Olympics in Beijing on 8th August, 2008 (08.08.08) with the following logo art.

Isn’t it cute that HuanHuan, representing the Olympic flame, is holding the Olympic torch and leading Beibei, Jingjing, Yingying and Nini carrying the Olympic flag?

I think that it would be awesome if for the duration of the Olympics, Google Search presents us a different logo art every day. It would be like a “set” of Google Olympic logo art. And if that happens, I would take a screenshot of it daily. 😀

I heart BeiBei, JingJing, HuanHuan, YingYing and NiNi!

Going To Beauty School

A friend of my sister asked if we know of any beauty schools. She is moving to Missouri soon but then none of us has been there before so we were not able to provide her with the required information. However, I always have faith on the internet and I know that it would not be difficult to look for beauty schools in missouri. This lady is not that web savvy but we managed to find her the information that she requires.

There is actually a reputable professional beauty institute in Missouri where she could go to. I think she is lucky. I am sure that once she has received training and certificate for her course, she would be ion demand! Yes, you would be surprised that beauty jobs are also very competitive so being certified is really a huge advantage!

Published Post Missing

An odd thing happened that I discovered this morning. Somehow, my blog post was missing from my blog. I remember publishing it and even pinged Petaling Street. However, since the day I published that post, until this morning, I did not even access my blog. That was like, a week ago!

When I went there this morning to check on something, I noticed something amiss. Checking my little notebook, I was able to confirm that yes, I did publish a post not too long ago but it was nowhere to be found on the front page!

I had the presence of mind to check my Blog Drafts and sure enough, it was in draft! I wonder what happened that it went to draft instead of live. I don’t remember editing my post and clicking Save draft instead of Publish, or something like that. In fact, I am happy that it was in draft and not totally lost. You know, if it was totally lost, I would not even remember what post I wrote that day!

HTML XML CSS

I was looking for a designer recently to help me with my blog layout. At first, I asked a friend but he wanted to charge me too expensive. Perhaps that is the going rate but I was not prepared to pay it as it was out of my budget.

He told me to learn it myself. It is not that I do not want to learn, but the codes are like Greek to me. And I seriously am running short of time so I can’t spare the time to do it myself by trial and error. I have to blog for a living, you see?

Anyway, I asked another friend, who studied web designing and development in his course, if he knows XML and CSS and he said he is not good. I was shocked. If he took a university course in that and he is not good, what chance do I have?

Rare Coin Collection

My friend was telling me that he has found a new hobby in collecting coins. Well, it is actually not a real hobby, but more an investment plan. Yes, coins could be really valuable as well, especially rare coins. My friend is also new in coin collection but he has consulted a coin dealer who has helped him to identify coins that would be worth keeping.

I am not well versed with coins as well but I do have a collection of coins as well that was given to me by my mother who is a casual coin collector. I wonder how much my coins are worth now and if possible, I would like to expand as an investment option. What do you think?

Computer Damn Lag!

If you have been reading my blog, you will know that I recently upgraded the memory of my desktop computer. I thought that I would enjoy a significant speed improvement since I doubled it. However, I noticed that there is hardly any change at all.

I don’t know why, does it mean that memory is still insufficient? Or does it mean that my computer is showing its age? It’s only 2.5 years old! I know this may seem old when it comes to technology but my previous computer lasted almost seven years and I expect that my current desktop would last as long as well without giving me major problems.

However, at the speed it is running, with the cursor always showing a busy signal and forcing me to pause every other second, I feel like pulling my hair out and chucking the computer down the river that is near my home! SIGH!
