Blogging Dedication

Just now, I suddenly remembered that I have not been getting any alerts of new posts from a blog that I am subscribed to. Actually, it has been a long time but I just did not miss it.

Out of curiosity, I went to check out the blog of this blogger just to see if he is blogging, maybe on another blog, but no, the most recent post is dated July.

I remember that when this guy just started a blog, he said that he wants to fit at least three posts per day. I thought that is pretty dedicated to him to do so. I mean, I have published more posts per day before but that’s another issue all together.

Now that he has left the blog idle for more than a month, I think that it reflects badly on his company. Yes, it’s a company blog where the blogger blogs about news, information and case studies.

Shopping For Cell Phone Accessories

Do you remember that I wrote about my cousin who has plans to study in a college in KL? Well, he finally left home. I gave him my spare cell phone. I actually was a little reluctant to part with it because I won it in a contest a few years ago so it has sentimental value to me but since I wasn’t using it anymore, I might as well let someone else make use of it.

The thing is that although the physical condition of my cell phone is very new since I only used it for a year and kept it in my drawer for three years, in cell phone age, it is considered old. My cousin had a difficult time buying accessories for it! You know how kids are. Even though I gave him the complete set, he still felt the need to accessorize it. Perhaps it’s a sign of laying claim on it or something.

Besides the fact that it’s an old model, Alcatel cell phones aren’t popular here, unlike Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung. Accessories for such brand names are aplenty and priced competitively as well, unlike cell phone accessories for Alcatel. Luckily, my cousin still managed to get what he wanted so he was very happy.

IP2Location: IP Geo-Location Technology

Although I have been a blogger and website owner for some years now, I never really bother with checking up the IP Address of my users. I know that there are a few really good free tools that allow us to do so easily but I don’t have the need for them. My friend told me that I should keep these tools handy, just in case.

IP2Location is a tool which allows us to check up on the IP addresses of any internet user. The difference between IP2Location and other similar tool is that IP2Location is really detailed. Besides the usual location, time zone and ISP, IP2Location would also be able to provide you with information on Latitude and Longitude!

The new DB15-DB18 packages would even, amazingly, give you information on IDD and area codes, weather station name and code too! Now, I seriously do not know why anyone would need this information but you can check out the free demo at http://www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx

As a webmaster or blogger, you could grab one of those free tools found on the demo page and place it on your site to provide a free service to your browsers. To do so, just copy the code and paste it in your template. Isn’t that cool?

Which Are The Cheap Yet Reliable Web Hosts?

Web hosting may be common and there may be many web hosting providers in the market. However, one of the most common questions that y friends and I ask each other is, “Which is a cheap web hosting that is reliable and does not compromise on uptime?”

You see, we run multiple websites and blogs and we must have a reliable hosting service. Earning a living online, we cannot have these sites offline for long periods of time. Sometimes we are even willing to pay a little more for better service. However, if there’s one that is cheaper, of course that’s what we prefer to go with!

That’s why, even though we already have several webhosts, we continue to look for others for future expansion of our network of sites. One of the better webhost review and comparison sites, web hosting rating is a good place to keep tab of the promotions and services offered by some of the major web hosting companies. Be informed of their developments and only make a decision after you have read through the reviews and understand what they are offering.

New Skins From Widget Bucks

I received a newsletter from Widget Bucks today reminding that they have new skins for their widget and how we could select from a range of 125 pre-made skins for our widgets or make one ourselves with their tools. I think it’s great that we could make the widget closer to the layout of our blog or website and I think it would generate more clicks if we stay away from looking like a Widget Bucks widget.

You know, some people are really funny. They would think, oh, it’s a Widget Bucks widget, better not click on it. LOL

I wonder if I should re-implement Widget Bucks on some of my blogs. I did implement Widget Bucks on three blogs previously and they bought me nothing but now they have combined Cost-per-Click and Cost-per-a-thousand-Impressions and rolled out to more countries. And I wonder if they still have loading issues which I experienced when I had them on my blog.
