Earn Unlimited metaPoints Virtual Currency

As someone who virtually spends the entire day online, you can be sure that I have played my share of online games and earned my share of virtual currencies. The latest “IN” thing in virtual currency is metaPoints at metaRL. The difference between metaRL from the other sites that I have played in is that metaPoints are universal and these points could be exchanged for free lindens in SecondLife, free peds in Entropia, credits in IMVU and even free habbo credits at Habbo.com.

When I talked to my friends about metaRL, one of the top questions they ask is if this is free. Yes, it’s free to play and free to collect metaPoints. And best of all, there is no limit to the amount of metaPoints that one could collect. Of course, the more you play in the games or participate in the contests and win, the more points you will get, right?

Basically, the concept of metaRL is very simple. Think of it as a virtual universe to all the other virtual worlds that you may be a part of. Use the virtual currencies that you have earned here on metaRL, called metaPoints, and transfer them to your other virtual world accounts, whether it is Habbo, IMVU, SecondLife or Entropia.

Facebook’s New Layout

Facebook has got a new layout for close to a month already and almost everyone that I asked tells me that the old layout is better. I personally think that the new layout is better. It’s fresh, light and has less clutter, hence browsing through my homepage and those of my friends is easier. Am I the only one who thinks so?

What amazes me is that there are people who are using the Facebook hack so that they could continue to use the old Facebook layout. Don’t ask me about this Facebook hack because I don’t want to encourage others to use the old layout. LOL There’s even a Facebook member who started a group to petition to Facebook to bring back the old layout.

Oh, come on. I think that the only problem with these people is that they refuse to change even though change is the only constant in life. What about you? If you are also a Facebook member, who isn’t nowadays?, do you like the new layout or do you prefer the old one? If it is the old layout, are you doing anything proactively so that you could continue to use it?

Traffic From Stumble Upon

The other day, one of my readers submitted a post to Stumble Upon. I was pretty surprised that she submitted that particular post when I feel that there are so many others of better quality a has a way more interesting subject.

Still, I was very happy for the unexpected traffic and I think I received about four hundred unique visitors within the few short hours. Very lucky indeed. I don’t remember if that was the highest amount I ever received from Stumble Upon, though.

There was once I remember Stumbling a friend’s post but when I asked him what was the traffic numbers that he received from Stumblers, he said only a couple of hundred more. That made me wonder if I Stumbled correctly or not. LOL

But then not everyone appreciates being Stumbled of Dugg. I understand that the sudden surge in traffic will cause the blog’s AdSense CPM to drop. Well, I don’t know about that since I do not use AdSense so I did not actually benefit or lost when the surge of traffic from Stumble Upon came.

ISA For Raja Petra

I guess all of us, who have been readers of Malaysia Today, would sorely miss him as he was sent to Kamunting Prison yesterday to serve his two year detention under the ISA.

Whether we believe him or not, whether we agree with him or not, is another matter all together. There is no denying that Raja Petra, though known as the Editor of Malaysia Today, is also first and foremost a blogger and it is really sad that a blogger is incarcerated for writing and publishing online what HE believes in.

It’s been said over and over again that the ISA has to go because it has been abused but there are still so many “yes men” riding on the issue by calling for just a REVIEW. There’s a vast difference in REPEAL and REVIEW and I am sure these learned men and women know this but do they dare to call for what actually needs done? I don’t think so.

So while Raja Petra is in Kamunting to serve his two year term, which could be extended and once again without trial, I guess there will be a void in the Blogosphere. Gone are the days when we excitedly waited for his instalments of political scandals on Malaysia Today.

Let’s pray that Raja Petra will be released as soon as possible without condition! Down with ISA!

Trusted Internet: Creating Trust Online

As an owner of an ecommerce store and an avid online shopper myself, one of my biggest concerns is revealing my personal, financial and other sensitive information over the web. I, for one, will only shop at trusted online stores.

I may perform internet banking monthly but each time, I make sure to type in the correct web address on my browser and not by accessing these banking portals via links, particularly links from emails. I also make sure that these portals are operated on secure socket layers, which could be seen with a small padlock at the bottom of the browser.

I believe that sooner than later, most websites will adopt these security measures, hence creating trust online and making the world wide web a Trusted Internet that everyone could freely use without worrying that sensitive information will be leaked out to unauthorized parties.

If you are an owner of a website, you must check out COMODO and see what they could offer you to beef up the security of your website. I think that all webmasters owe it to their users to create a safe and secure environment to surf.
