WordPress 2.7 is OUT!!!

Wow, my worst nightmare came true!!!

I just updated all my WordPress blogs a couple of weeks ago, including my plug-ins and everything and I was telling, myself that I am sure WordPress would be coming out with a new version and sure enough, they did! Urghhh!!!

Now that version 2.7 is out, I am not in a hurry to update it in case there are security holes to patch up AGAIN. Yes, again!!! I just don’t have the time to keep playing catch up with WordPress. Blogging is hard enough, let alone blogging on so many blogs!

Moreover, I will be so busy these next few days, if there’s any reason to update, then it will have to be after the New Year. Christmas is coming soon and I have extra work to do unless there is an urgent security concern.

Bloggers Scandal

Recently, we here in Malaysia have been riddled with a scandal involving a handful of local bloggers. While I think that it is none of our business, the problem with doing something with another blogger, whether it’s just drinking or something private, we risk having these activities exposed.

The nature of bloggers is such is that they feel compelled to kept everyone know about something and would publish photos and whatever to remind them of that incident, even if you have specifically told them NOT to!

A blog is a personal diary on public domain, that was what a friend once told me. I once learnt from another friend, a veteran blogger, that if you like to keep something secret, then DON’T do it with a blogger! How dumb could one get?

Sourcing For Engineering Services & Electronic Components

A friend was asking me if I know of a one stop store that could provide him with Electronic Components at the most reasonable prices.

I have to admit that I do not know much about electronic components or places that sell it so I am not about to make a good comparison. However, I let my friend know about 1-Source so that he could check for himself if he would be able to get a good deal out of procuring the necessary electronic components here.

Besides providing a good source for electronic components, 1-Source also offers other engineering services. If you would like to know what they do in detail, check out their website at http://www.1sourcecomponents.com/

Get Things Done (GTD) With Gmail To-Do List

Gmail has a new task feature, which is a little to-do list that pops up in a little rectangular box which we could create with a list of tasks to do each day and edit it as the day progresses.

I find this a wonderful feature as I am someone with a hundred and one things to do each day and usually write my daily or weekly to-do tasks in small note papers, sometimes sticking them on the computer monitor.

This means that I would prefer this to be a desktop feature rather than one that could only be accessible by logging in to Gmail. Besides, with three active Gmail accounts and duplicating task lists on each Gmail account is never practical, hence my preference for a desktop feature, though I am uncertain if there’s such a thing available already.

Honest Product Reviews

I guess when you have spent as much time as I have on the internet, you tend to be a little skeptical reading review of products and services. Well, this morning, I was told of this website called Review Kings, which is a website with reviews on just about any product that you can find from self-improvement to make money online to Sports Betting to making web videos.

At first glance, I was thinking that this site surely has a varied review list and was surprised to learn that there are more than 5000 products reviewed and they are still adding more honest product reviews regularly!

Check out Review Kings to see the kind of products that have been reviewed and if you have ever wondered how good a certain product is, do a search on Review Kings and see if there is an honest review published already.

Phishing Of Sensitive Information Via Firefox

I read this article just this morning and am rather alarmed by it. According to PC World, there is a rare malware that targets Firefox users and phish for sensitive information like log in and financial details of banking websites and send the information to the servers of these scammers in Russia.

I think this is a pretty serious threat seeing how many people prefer Firefox over other browsers. Personally, I use Maxthon, Firefox and Opera at the same time but log in to PayPal and other banking websites via Maxthon. However, lately, I do not know what happened but logging in to PayPal crashes my Maxthon so I have tried to remember to log in to PayPal with Firefox or IE.

Reading this article at this time, with the glitch I am facing right now with my regular browser, makes me realize that I have compromised my sensitive information. I must remember not to use Firefox for online banking transactions anymore!

December PC Fair In Ipoh

At first I thought that I would not be going to PC Fair in Ipoh this December because of the change in venue but I did go, after all, because coincidentally, my multimedia headphone broke a couple of days before the weekend. What luck.

I would like to emphasize that the venue is really inappropriate. The hall of the Yuk Choy primary school is situated along one of the busiest stretches of roads in Ipoh and it is dangerous especially at night. I see families with young children running across the main road and cars don’t even slow down for them. I hope PIKOM would take this safety concern into consideration when they organise the next PC Fair.

I bought my headphone when I was there but I am really interested in a netbook. RM1500 – RM2000 would be good enough for a netbook with decent specs. And I also saw a Dell laptop that is almost as thin as a Mac Book Air. Arghhh my own laptop is about three times thicker! Geram!!! Too bad I did not take down its model since I did not have plans to buy it.

Shopping during PC Fairs is really tough because of the crowd, unless one has the whole day to spend there but then who wants to get stuck in a human traffic jam the whole day? It’s really too crowded and it’s not easy to make a decision to buy unless one already has a shopping list ready and know exactly what to buy and buying it during PC Fairs would save us a little money.
