The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers ran a survey recently and found out from divorce lawyers that one in five divorces in the United States involve the social networking website, Facebook.

While Facebook is a great way to reconnect, maybe have used it to reconnect with old flames and rekindled that flame. Facebook has been cited as evidence of infidelity, either through status updates, messages on the wall or photos. These result in irreconcilable differences.

MySpace is next after Facebook, with 15%, Twitter is third with 5% and 14% belongs to other social media networks.

I remember the priest saying that married couples should stay away frm Facebook because it is the cause for divorce but I think that old flames are rekindled so easily because these people wanted it.

Miley Cyrus is the number one celebrity searched on Yahoo! I have to admit, I have not searched for Miley Cyrus for the past year and even if I search for her, I wouldn’t be using Yahoo! This means I am not part of the statistics.

I am not surprised, though, that Miley Cyrus is the top searched celebrity, at least on Yahoo, since she has had such a great year career wise, with so many things going on for her. And then her parents’ divorced also threw her in the limelight.

Having just turned 18, she is legally an adult now and I expect she will be in the news a lot more, as fans become more and more curious about her.

A breast cancer campaign that is being run by a New Zealand female-orientated website is calling for readers to submit photos of their breasts to be posted online and that every 50 photos uploaded, they will donate $1000 to a breast cancer charity organisation.

While raising breast cancer awareness is certainly a good cause, and this campaign has surely raised awareness of the public to breast, I am not sure if people are looking beyond that. There surely is a better way to create awareness of breast cancer than getting naked boob shots online and have them end up on porn sites?

Obviously this topic has raised a furious debate between believers and non-believers of the method this campaign is being run. Like I said, the cause is good but there are many other ways to handle it.

Groupon has finally come to a decision on Google’s bid to purchase the daily deals company and Google has been given the kick. It looks like Groupon, with 33 million subscribers in 35 countries around the world, does not think that US$6 billion is enough.

Groupon, which is short for “group coupon”, sends out emails to subscribers to let them know of a new deal and the deal is only activated when a certain number of purchasers is achieved. This is unlike the other coupon business model where discount coupons are purchased outright.

Frankly, I think that it’s silly that virtual companies can be valued billions of dollars. Web users come and go, internet companies come and go. Just look at the so many internet companies that have busted, and to think that Yahoo! and AOL, just to name two veteran internet giants, spent hundreds of millions of dollars acquiring web properties. MySpace, what?
