Tablet or Phablet

I am in two minds if I should get myself a tablet or phablet. A phablet is too large to fit in my pocket, while a tablet would be even larger but at least there’s more screen real estate to do some proper productive work.

I only have the two Samsung Notes in mind; Note II and Note 10.1…. both are around the same price and fit my budget. But the question is, which one do I really need?

Of course, I would love to have both. Unfortunately, I cannot afford both. My friend said if I can’t afford both, I should get the phablet instead.

Me thinks I should get a 10.1. How?

Oh well, in the end, the decision falls on myself. Sigh!

Out For 3 Weeks

Recently, my websites hosted under one hosting account went down for almost three weeks. I had to move to another host, who helped me to get my sites up again.

It had been a painful three weeks, and I was on tenterhooks. It did not help that I was also faced with communication breakdowns off and on, which made things even more difficult.

I am glad that things are a lot better now. Still not perfect, technically, I think, but at least all my sites are live, and I am paying a lot less too!

Desktop Replacement

Am thinking of buying a 10in tablet with keyboard dock as a replacement for the older desktop at home. That is used by my family and they are just content consumers, sometimes they do reply emails but not regularly.

HHmm the Asus EEE Transformer which I had waited for before it was released, is now selling cheap, because quite a few models have been launched since then, and the price dropped by 50%! Sigh… technology!

Am thinking if I should get it. My friend said no, and asked me to get a newer model. But then this is not for work, but more for browsing. Besides, even though its technology is older, it still suits the needs of my family.

Buy or not?

Imitation Phones

I met a guy in the street a couple of days ago, and he offered to sell me mobile phones. He had on him Samsung and Nokia phones of various models. Looking closely, these are not real branded phones but imitation.

I reset one “Samsung Galaxy Note II” and everything turned to Chinese. That told me the phones are from China. This doesn’t mean they are no good. In fact, they are very responsive and look like Note II, except they do not come with the S-Pen.

For the 1/6 price of a real Galaxy Note II, some people may succumb to the temptation, but I did not because I don’t need a new phone. I just want a tablet that could edit photos from my camera’s memory card.

Instagram Reverses Terms of Service

Instagram, the popular photo sharing application with many filters to play with, reversed their Terms of Service, after being fired by users who also threatened to shut their account, taking their photos and followers to another service.

According to Instagram, their term was misinterpreted and they had no intention of selling users’ photos at all. But the fact that Instagram had wanted to make money off photos from users, I am not sure if the company can regain the trust of users.

What do you guys think? I still don’t have an Instagram account because my mobile camera is lousy…. thought of registering an account when I have a better mobile camera but I don’t know if I should.

iPhone 5 In Malaysia

The Apple iPhone 5 is finally in Malaysia, and it was launched just a couple of nights ago at Telco stores. Those come with contracts.

The iPhone 5 is also available online at Apple Stores Malaysia, just in time for Christmas.

And the prices? From RM2,199 for 16GB to RM2,799 for 64GB. When can we have cheaper iPhones??

The iPhone 5 come in two boring colours of black and white. Can we have pink and yellow? Need to buy cover for them. Sigh!

iPad Mini In Malaysia

PC Fair is now being held in Kuala Lumpur. My friends who visited told me that iPad Mini is already on sale there. And their verdict? It’s nothing special and if you already have an iPad, there is no reason to get the iPad Mini, unless you want a smaller iPad.

LOL that’s the whole reason of Apple making iPad smaller, right? Because the original iPads were just too large.

Well, iPad Mini isn’t cheap too, despite its smaller size. A friend told me it’s around RM1500 for a 16GB WiFi only device, which is around the same price, or even more expensive than the new WiFi only iPad with the same capacity. Right?
