Collecting Gold Coins

My mother, who is a coin collector, has decided to focus on collecting gold coins only. For her, it is like killing two birds with a stone since she would be able to indulge in her much-loved hobby and at the same time, collecting gold coins is a form of investment.

My mother could of course just buy gold bullion if she just wanted to protect her wealth but the glitter of the previous metal doesn’t give her the level of joy that coins do, especially uncirculated, mint condition gold coins.

I am glad that because of this hobby, she has braved herself to use the computer more to get online to research on this form of investment. Even though it is a hobby, she still would like to maximize her profit.

With a little research, you need to have the ability to complete the mission, submit an application affordable-papers.net on time, and then get your credit in the long run.

Brighter, Larger Exit Signs

I thought I would give my parents a good time by treating them to a movie one evening recently. I didn’t want to be a “lamp” and go along too so I sent them to the cinema and left. It really has been a long time since my parents went out on a date.

Anyway, my parents told me that while the enjoyed the show, the cinema was not very conducive. You know how elderly people have to visit the toilet in the middle of the show and because the cinema hall was pitch dark, my parents had trouble seeing the exit signs. Obviously! Even at the end of the show when the lights were switched on, the exit signs were not that visible because of the dim lights.

I think I am going to write in to the cinema management to let them know that their cinema isn’t very friendly to senior citizens and they should put up large photoluminescent exit signs instead of what they have installed currently.

Another good idea is to install Self Luminous Exit Signs where the signs would still light up even when there is no electricity power. That would be an excellent solution for a dark cinema hall.

I am not sure if the cinema management would take up my suggestion but I hope that they will for the sake of their senior moviegoers.

Celcom Free USB Modem

I was very happy to see that Celcom is giving away a free USB modem since I am contemplating splitting my data and voice services into two SIM cards. I am currently using one SIM card only for both services.

So I went to Celcom office this morning to seek further information. I was told that I can terminate my current data plan and register for a new plan. I will have to pay RM100 registration fee plus RM10 stamp duty. And then I will also have to pay either RM68 or RM98 for the package that I am subscribing to. But I will receive a free USB modem.

The bad thing is that this Celcom free USB modem is locked which means that it could only work with a Celcom data SIM card and nothing else. Also, although it is stated that there is no contract, if I were to terminate my subscription to Celcom data plan, I will have to return the “free” USB modem to Celcom and if they say that there is something wrong with the USB modem somehow, I will have to pay RM150 penalty.

I think that it is not worth subscribing for me. Maybe it is for you.

Split Or Not

I am currently in two minds if I should split my Celcom data and voice plan subscription into two SIM cards. Right now, although I am subscribed to two plans, I am using a shared SIM card. Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages.

For one, using a shared SIM, I would only have to carry one mobile phone if I were to move around in town and still be able to use my phone for calls and text messages as well as connect to the internet. If I were to use to separate SIM cards, I would have to carry two mobile phones; one for voice and text and the other for data.

If I have two SIM cards and connected to the internet via a USB modem, I would still be able to make and receive calls and text messages. On the other hand, with only one SIM, once I am connected to the internet via a USB modem, I would not be able to use my phone functions.

I could still connect to the internet on my laptop or desktop PC via my mobile phone if I only have one SIM card but that seriously kills my mobile phone battery. SIGH….. too many options and I don’t even know what’s the best option for me.

Google – Word Of The Decade

It’s interesting to know that 2010 s not only a New Year but also a new decade. I was wishing everyone “Happy New Decade” on 1st January, 2010.

I came across an article that says that according to the American Dialect Society, that Google (verb) is the number one word of the last decade. Last decade, Google beat other popular verbs like “green,” “blog,” “text,” “9/11,” and “war on terror”. Who is surprised? I have been using Google as a verb like forever and so has everyone that I know of.

In this same article is a mention of a list compiled by CBS of popular verbs in the last decade by year and I am quite shocked that words like 9/11 was a word from 2001 and WMD (Weapons of Mass Descrtion) was a word from 2002. YouTube was fro 2006 while Facebook was from 2007 while H1N1 and sexting (texting sexual messages) were from 2009. My, how time flies!

I wonder what popular terms or words will rule in 2010.

Busy PC Fair Preparations

A couple of my friends will be on duty during PC Fair this weekend. But even before the start of the Fair this Friday, they are already busy with preparations. Needless to say, this will be a busy week for them and their work load will only ease the day after PC Fair when they have finished moving their stocks back to their stores and back on the shelves for display. One of these friends told me that in the last PC Fair, he was so exhausted that he went home and slept for a full 48 hours! And to think that he is a sportsman!

Besides arranging for transportation for goods and hiring of part time staff and providing them with a crash course in sales training, my friends also have to source for display stands and velcro display boards. Some would be rented, some would be bought. They say these are very important as without them, though, they would not be able to hold and sales presentation.

North Sculpture Displays is a company that deals in high quality customized trade show displays. A customer just has to let them know what he requires in his display boards to effectively market his products and North Sculpture Display will be able to come up with a solution through customized display boards.

WordPress Theme For WordPress Powered “Website”

I run a website that I am planning to install WordPress and convert it into a WordPress powered website. I have another “website” like this but when I think of the work this would entail, I chicken out.

I have found a couple of WordPress themes that would be suitable for a WordPress powered website but still, they would require plenty of customization. It’s too bad that my skills are still just at beginner level even though I have already hosted my own WordPress blogs for more than three years now. Not too long but I guess I just don’t have an inquisitive mind!

Actually, I have a lot of ideas in my mind for my personal website. It is functioning now but I am afraid that once I take it down I would procrastinate so much that it would end up with an “under construction” notice for way too long. So far, I have only searched for WordPress themes and installed Dreamweaver on my computer. Bah!

I wish that I have an assistant who would take care of these things for me for free but I guess I am not the only blogger or webmaster looking for such a person!
