I do not know what is wrong with my computer AGAIN. It’s taking ages to bring up the SHUT DOWN dialog. Each time I shut down my PC, I’d have to wait at least 5 minutes. All right, maybe the wait is not that long but it feels like an hour just waiting for it to come out! The other day, I was browsing FaceBook and it even hung my browser. When I called up the Shut Down dialog, it took a long time to come and finally when I did manage to get it to shut down, it hung at the wallpaper. It didn’t shut down and I had to shut it by force.

I really hate it when my computer is not 100% and I especially hate it when something is wrong, I KNOW something is wrong, but do not know what is wrong! So now I only go to FaceBook from my iPhone, not for fear that my browser will hang once again but going to FaceBook via the iPhone is a very smooth affair, unlike my computer. I complaint but t seems that I am the only one feeling its lag. Well, I don’t know.

Could I the computer virus, spyware, malware, Trojan or some other nasty bugs? Or is it because I put my computer on for too long that it got heated up? I hope it’s nothing major!

I guess the title of my post is pretty obvious. We all know that the algo has changed but to what formula? It seems to me that the higher our traffic, the faster our PR will rise. Is my observation correct? Now, it’s not that I want to give my blogs a fake traffic boost or anything but it will help my sanity if I at least do understand that why some blogs full of paid to post banners can still maintain their page rank while others without any, cannot!

Oh, on the other hand, I was told that some bloggers have a Page rank of 2 for the test blogs. I also have a blog that I set up especially to test templates before I mess with my proper blogs. As soon as I heard this piece of news from the other bloggers, I checked mine too. SIGH no luck lah!!! Isn’t it galling???

I wonder how long we have to suffer from being sandboxed. Errrmmm my friends, who went from PR4 to PR0 and now back to PR2 just by continuing to blog said that it was a dry six-month spell. Sigh…. there’s still a long way to wait.

Let’s admit it. The internet is a really competitive world. I started a few blogs and have been trying to build traffic while I publish quality content every couple of days. Improving link popularity is really a slow process but being impatient, I thought I’d speed things up a little.

A few months ago, I was reading the Digital Point forum and there was an limited time offer by TNX.net giving away 5,000 free links from quality websites to new members to try out their system. Of course I jumped at the chance.

Granted, the fear of being penalized by certain search engines for buying and/or selling links is very real BUT the key of doing it is to make your linking as natural looking as possible. From what I have learnt during my research lately to try to improve my new blogs, we need to build backlinks not only to our landing page but also, and particularly, to our deep pages.

Variety is the KEY

Another tip to note is variety in keywords. Just imagine, you would surely be giving the search engines an alarm if you suddenly had ten thousand sites [yes, TNX.net sells links so cheaply it is possible to acquire that many links with just ONE campaign!] linking to you with the SAME keyword within a couple of days. That is certainly not natural!

Don’t look at page rank ONLY

As a webmaster who is continuously looking to monetize my blogs further, I did contemplate selling text links. Right now, I have not been that successful because of my Page Rank.

If you are on the internet for long hours like myself, I am sure you would have been threatened time and again by computer viruses. This year, I have already got my computer crashed because of virus.

My friend jokingly told me that the only way that I could stop my computer from being affected is by not turning it on and connecting it to the internet. Don’t tell me it is THAT serious?

In my search for a better all-in-one computer protection, I came across NOD32 that would be a perfect computer system and computer network protection.

I had thought that this total solution protecting software would cost an arm and a leg but surprisingly, they are very reasonably priced. If you are also suffering a similar problem, I am sure you know where to get it!

I just noticed this morning that Gmail has incorporated AIM Chat. Although I use AIM [I only have two buddies there], having AIM on Gmail does not make a difference to me because I do not chat when I am Gmailing.

When it comes to chatting, when I have the time and the mood, I prefer to use their dedicated programmes. I would hate to be disrupted which chatting when I am concentrating on replying to emails.

Moreover, using a browser to chat, I hate it when the browser crashes and ends my conversation prematurely. Also, sometimes your window may gave been hijacked by some other websites and it also will end your conversation and don’t you find it troublesome that you will have to log into your email account again even though you are not emailing?

That’s why I have disabled my chatting feature in Gmail!

A few days ago, I got news that I won a contest. I was so happy and excited but then I later found out that the prize I won was 1000 EntreCard Credits. Boohoohoo. How sad. This 1000 was the second prize and the first prize was US$100. How I can do with the cash but luck was not on my side. GGGrrrr

What can 1000 EntreCard Credits do? I myself have plenty of EntreCard Credits already with three accounts with them, though I have stopped dropping cads on purpose because I have no time to do so.

And because I no longer drop cards actively and since the directory has grew at such a fast pace, I am no longer getting quality traffic from them.

What I do now is just to allow people to advertise on my blog for 2 EntreCard Credits. LOL So low, huh? Don’t care lah!

That’s what’s happening to our page rank. My friend sent me a text message this afternoon when I was taking a nap informing me that she has a PR2 now for her blog. This blog used to be a PR4 but was slapped by Goo a few months ago. How long ago was it, I can’t exactly remember but while the rest of us were eating eggs, she still had a PR4 for awhile. It then dropped to a 3 and later, 0.

Well, now she’s happy but I’m not I still have six eggs to eat not counting those that were slapped by association. Yes, some people say it has no relation but I think it does. Sue me lah!

A PR2 may seem low to some people but it makes a huge difference when it comes to blogging for money. I know because once my last PR2 fell to a zero, all my opps suddenly dried up. Oh well…. let’s hope for the best.
