Streamyx Too Slow For You?

The other day, my friend told me that Streamyx is getting too slow for her already. She has a back up Maxis broadband and DiGi’s EDGE subscriptions but these do not have a goods signal where she lives. I can totally sympathize with her because when broadband is crawling, you wonder why Dial Up internet access seemed faster.

Since January, we have heard reports that the Cisco cable modem is aiming to support data rates over 100Mbps. Wow, that is really fast and for people like my friend and I who have been having intermittent internet connection problems, the Cisco cable modem sounds like it will be able to solve our problems.

My question now is, is there an internet service provider who could offer this kind of data rates at an affordable price? Please don’t make us pay through our noses!

Directory Mania

I have always known that one of the ways to create visibility through organic search is by listing my site to as many online directories as possible. Having an ecommerce site, I tell you, that is all I spend my time doing!

However, it seems like I am never doing enough since there are so many web directories on the web. However, what I am looking for is a quality free web directory that will provide me with ranking in the major search engines for my targeted keywords.

I was introduced to DirMania this morning and this free web directory is easy to navigate and user-friendly. I have been to many sites that require half my lifetime just to input my site’s particulars! Can you imagine spending that amount of time on each and every web directory? Well, that’s not the case with DirMania.

If you have a website that needs a little extra exposure, check out DirMania!

Hotter Than MySpace

We all know how popular MySpace is, though for the life of me, I don’t know for what reasons because I don’t think it is an exceptionally great website or offers us what other sites do not except for preys looking for young and innocent members who would readily give out their personal particulars to their new found friends.

But you know what? Yesterday, there was this programme on TV that showed a website, which I have conveniently forgotten the web address to, which is like a social network portal as well, but where members can see each other having sex on webcam and they get to “Add” each other to their buddy list as well.

I always believe that Americans cannot surprise me anyone but I guess they still do. Judging from how fast paced the web is and the need to feed the hungry web users, I dare not think what kind of websites will pop up in the near future!

Disk Usage Warning

Whoa, this afternoon, while I was uploading a plug in to my web server, I received a warning message that I am already using 80% of my disk space. Eeekkkk I have been piling in files as I blog and did not realise that I have already accumulated so much data. Well, it does not help that I am hosting quite a few blogs on this hosting package! Sigh…

Because I am using FileZilla, I never know how much space I already used up until and unless I log into my control panel so after receiving that email, I logged in to see that the bar is still YELLOW colour. Not red yet. Phew.

I guess I will have to catch my host on MSN and ask him to enlarge my disk space. I wonder how much I really need and how much more will this cost me. Yerrrrrr money OUT again! Bah!

Default Ads

A local blog advertising company promised its members that they will be giving us new blog ads from 1st April. Was that an April Fool’s joke or what? Since before 1st April, I have been seeing nothing but default ads.

And not only are default ads irritating, they are slow to load, take up lots of space and do not benefit us one bit. I believe that if new bloggers were to join this company as a publisher by going via a default ad from our blogs, we would not even be paid commission. Correct me if I am wrong.

And worst of all, default ads are not taking advantage of our blog traffic. We won’t be getting any money by page impressions, neither by clicks. The last two weeks, my page impressions have been pathetic. Why? Because there are all mostly default ads only! Gosh, a blogger has to eat too, you know?

Why You Should Get On My Top Spot

The other day, an advertiser booked a spot on my Top Spot Widget. If you are familiar with ScratchBack, you will know that although people may like to advertise on your widget you can only cash out when you have accumulated $25 or so.

Well, the point I am trying to bring across is that if you have bought a spot on my Top Spot, you will also be given a free buzz. The advertiser that bought a spot from my blog and whom I gave a free buzz in a blog post was very appreciative.

This means that for whatever price that you pay to get on my Top Spot, right now on this blog which currently is at US$2 only, you will be receiving a free buzz as well. So why should you not get onto my Top Sport, right?

For Your Cabling Needs

My cousin took me shopping for cables over the weekend. He’s the manager of an audio/visual equipment company. He takes me along in his shopping sprees because I know that he has made it his mission to teach me about cables! I keep mixing them up and for the life of me, cannot differentiate between Ethernet cables and Cisco Cables, for example.

However, I was told to view all the different cables that are being sold on Diablo Cable. They do have a wide selection of cable, especially networking cables and audio/visual cables. They are, after all, a leading distributor of these cables and other electronic products. I may be confused with the wide variety of cables but I am convinced already that this is a “guy thing”.

If you have a need for cables maybe for your networking or something, you should check out Diablo Cable. Navigating and browsing through their website won’t take you too long as it is very user-friendly and everything is placed in their respective categories. However, I wish that they would remove their categories that do not have any product. This would save people from clicking on an empty page.
