HSPDA Router

While all my friends who are subscribed to 3G connectivity are using USB modems, I am thinking of getting a HSPDA router. At first, I too wanted to get a USB modem to replace my mobile device which I have been using as a modem.

I wanted a dedicated modem for a more stable connection but then the mobile shop guy recommended me a HSPDA router which I could connect multiple computers, laptop and other wifi internet enabled devices to my single 3G line. This is so tempting to me as we have two computers, a laptop and two internet enabled mobile devices at home, including the iPhone.

The price for the USB modem is about MYR599 while the price for an HSPDA router is about MYR1099. Both are China-made products, both come with one year warranty. The price difference is only MYR500 but the USB modem is a single-user modem while the HSPDA router is a multiple user modem! Urghhh….. what else is there to think about except the cost??

Hotmail Trickles In

If you have been following my blog a little while back, I am sure you will know that I have an issue with Hotmail where I discovered that some of my emails never arrived. I am uncertain if they just got eaten up, or have been miss sent to another email address, like the Gmail glitch, but I know that they just did not reach me.

Lately, I don’t even know if I should laugh or cry. I have been receiving some email from way back! As an example, a friend dropped me a message through a forum. I did not get the email alert even though I set it to alert me.

So no, I did not get the alert and only discovered the message when I log into my forum account. The thing is, two weeks later, I would be getting this email alert in my Hotmail! I know that there’s a possibility that it could be a problem with the forum but this is just an example and there were many instances where the email which should arrive has been delayed for ages!

I don’t even know which email I could depend on thoroughly. Hotmail is so unreliable sometimes and Gmail is f@rked up too by sending a wrong email to me!

Hot A Meter

I am not sure about others but I have been receiving a slew of spam email from “Hot A Meter”. I don’t even know what that is but the subject title of the email says that so-and-so wants me to vote for him/her in a social networking site.

Actually, what is Hot A Meter and how did the people behind it obtain my email address? I am not going to click on any links in that email to find out who they are and what they do! Is anyone receiving emails from Hot A Meter as well? I tell you, I am getting sick of their spam!

It’s strange that I am only receiving Hot A Meter on my Hotmail account. I think that the next time I receive an email from Hot A Meter, I am going to block them from spamming me.

Not Installing Google Chrome

After downloading the installer of Google Chrome and meaning to install it, I have changed my mind. I am not going to install them any time soon. For one, I am already using, and am comfortable with, Firefox, Opera and IE, not in any particular order.

As for Google Chrome, it is still in Beta and there will be plenty of bugs to deal with which I am not ready to do nor do I have the time to do it. Also, if you have read the privacy policy of Google Chrome, they are going to get all your surfing habits and there is nothing you could do about it because they already have their asses covered.

Anyway, I read some user reviews on the web and there are some things that Google could improve on like Bookmarking and History. Although there’s a saying that goes, “Familiarity breeds contempt”, I think that the more familiar we are with our browser, the faster we could work!

My Broadband Connection Is Fixed

After slightly more than two months, my Streamyx broadband internet connection is finally fixed. I tell you, I have lost count of the number of phone calls I made to Customer Service and the number of reports I lodged. It has been such a trying time these past two and a half months without a proper, fast, stable and reliable internet connection.

And what about the number of times, totally wasted time, just trying to connect/disconnect, plug/unplug, flush DNS, ping and what not, basically just to troubleshoot my internet connection.

Boy, am I so glad that all these are over already and hope that I will never experience the same in a loooooong while! I have pulled enough of hair and banged my head more than enough times! Haha!

New Facebook

Have you tried out the new Facebook? You know, all along, I access Facebook via the iPhone. It’s very fast and easy to use Facebook on the iPhone but now that they have a new layout, it’s not as good already.

Of course, accessing it on the computer is not such a problem and in fact, I find that it loads faster but who has the time to check Facebook on the computer only to end up joining multiple, and I mean MULTIPLE Elven Blood parties?!?

Since I lost my wifi router to lightning about 2.5 months ago, I haven’t even logged into Facebook anymore because I used to only do it via the iPhone and usually when I was in the toilet or about to fall asleep in bed, usually with my iPhone still switched on and draining my battery!

So do you prefer the new Facebook or do you want to use the old Facebook layout? I think the new one is less cramped and loads a whole lot faster.

Online Parenting Resource and Community Website

I have a friend who is an “older” parent because of late marriage BUT I think that he makes a an even better parent that my friends who became parents at a younger age. I think that this friend, Sam, is more mature and experienced, though not in parenting but in life.

Sam is a geek and he surfs the web for ALL information. If you talk to him and there’s anything that he is unfamiliar with, he will look for information on the internet.

As a parent, you can be sure that he spends countless hours reading experiences of other parents and reading reviews of baby products, among other parenting homework that he does online.

I was told that Lila Guide is a great site for any parent, new of veteran. Online parenting resources and community website like Lila Guide brings parents together no matter which part of the world they are from, allowing them to share experiences and stories of bringing up children.
