NuffNang Seems To Be Down

And it has been HOURS now. I didn’t really count how many hours but I think it has been at least 12 hours because I recall that I have been unable to access the NuffNang website since last night but I did not check if my blog were able to load at all due to this technical glitch because I thought that this is just a small issue.

This morning, it looks like I still could not access the NuffNang website and much to my regret, my blogs are loading at snail’s pace. Thank god I am not a heavy NuffNang user and my ad codes are placed in the sidebar but still, it’s irksome because this means that my readers would not be able to view the rest of the stuff in my sidebar that are placed below my NuffNang ads unless they wait patiently.

Although I know not to expect things to be perfect at all times, I think that it’s unacceptable when an issue has been prolonged without a notice, let alone an explanation. Let’s see how things go in the next few hours. I would really hate it if I have to remove the ad codes so that my blogs could load faster.

Same Issue With My Third Belkin ADSL 2+ Modem with Wireless G Router

So I wrote that my Belkin ADSL 2+ Modem with Wireless G Router disconnects from my broadband connection regularly. I don’t know if it’s heat of whatever but I know that it’s totally abnormal. I went to get an exchange for the third time last evening and I kept my fingers crossed that it’s not a problem with Belkin per se but a problem with just that particular wireless router.

Well, too bad, because the same problem occurred. Now, I have no choice but to seek an exchange of another brand name and pick up some other stuff, perhaps a thumbdrive, that they are selling to make up for the balance since Belkin is at least RM50 more expensive than other wireless routers.

I am annoyed not only because of the running around but the fact that I paid more for Belkin because I would like to have lifetime warranty against my wireless router. Changing to another brand name, I would only get the standard one year warranty. SIGH!

Syncsort Disaster Recovery Software

Computer technology may be very important in our daily living. It helps us with our work. But did you know that many people do not take time to back up their data regularly? Since the times I lost my data, I have made it a habit to back up my data on a daily basis.

However, for people who have lost their data, they could try using Syncsort Inc’s disaster recovery software. Although I have not used this before and hope that I never have to, I checked Syncsort’s website nonetheless to see the various data solutions that they offer. Did you know that 90% of companies in the Fortune 100 list are customers of Syncsort? Their products are even used by international companies around the world.

If you have been looking for data or disaster recovery solutions, do check out Syncsort. They will surely have just the right solution for you.

Problems With My Belkin ADSL 2+ Modem with Wireless G Router

I bought this Belkin almost three weeks ago because I wanted their lifetime warranty. Everyone tells me that Belkin is expensive but I do not mind the price as long as I am covered for life. However, since the day I bought it, I have been experiencing frequent disconnection of my broadband internet access.

At first, I thought that there was a problem with the service. I also thought that there was a problem with the cables. I also changed the adapter and finally requested for an exchange but the disconnection keeps happening. I found out that the problem is with this modem because I have a spare Billion modem to test and there was no problem at all.

Now, I am going to get yet another exchange. The shop told me that they would exchange another unit from another brand for me but why should I when I paid for lifetime warranty? I am pretty pissed off, actually, to have to run around to and fro.

I wonder if other people are experiencing the same issues with their Belkin. The shop told me that maybe I am not able to use it in my location. Bull… I don’t believe there’s such thing as an item functioning in one place and not in another. He thinks this is a magnetic product or what?

Man Pleads Not Guilty For Hacking Sarah Palin’s Yahoo! Mail

The man, David C. Kernell, 20, of Knoxville, who is the son of a prominent Democratic Tennessee state lawmaker, has been accused of hacking into the Yahoo! mail account of Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin’s email gov.palin@yahoo.com is personal but she has been known to conduct state business with this email ads well. David Kernell used the Yahoo! Mail “forgotten password” feature to access Sarah Palin’s email account, correctly answering a few security questions and changing her password to popcorn.

Whether David Kernell really did hack into Sarah Palin’s personal email account and accessing her email, photos and contact numbers of her friends and family members and then posting these information on a public forum, whether David Kernell will receive the punishment that he deserves for his actions if he really did so, is not the issue here.

The lesson that we all should learn is that we should not use real personal information for security questions. Gibberish information is the way to go, but of course, you will need to remember your own answers.

Netflix Inc. Charges $1 More For Unlimited Access To Blu-Ray Rentals

Online DVD rental company, Netflix Inc., has announced that they will be raising monthly membership fee by US$1 (only) which will allow members allow unlimited access to Blu-Ray movies.

Frankly, I watch a lot of movies but I am not that particular about the quality, as long as it is not too bad. I could watch VCD, DVD or even just downloaded movie file unlike some of my friends who are very particular on the format of their movies. I have a friend who would willingly spend a few hundred dollars more every month just to buy Blu-ray movies. He commented that I do not know a good thing when I see it.

I think that for people who are like my friends, paying an additional US$1 per month is no big deal. Even if it’s an additional US$1 per movie rented, it would be well worth it.

Members who are like me who would not mind watching non-Blu-ray movies would have to remember to opt-out of this subscription or be charged US$1 more.

Yahoo! Vibes Survey Panel

Last evening, I was invited to register with Yahoo! Vibes, a survey panel in collaboration between Yahoo! and TM. Well, of course I registered since I do participate in surveys once in a while.

However, the website is really BLANK. There is nothing in there except member’s profile. I don’t know how successful this survey marketplace will be in future but I am a member of a handful of survey sites and this is the worst I have seen. It’s only because it’s local that I was interested to participate in the first place.

I am not sure when Yahoo! Vibes was launched but I guess it is still early days. I hope that in the near future, members will get to participate in many surveys; including members from outside the Klang Valley.
