I have a few documents that I wanted to share on my blog so I decided that the best way to do so was to scan the documents, save them into a PDF file and allow readers to download them from my blog. This is easier said than done because I could not scan and edit and save in a PDF file directly because each scanned document had to be edited and I couldn’t do so just before saving the files into a PDF file.
So after scanning and editing each document, I was left with multiple JPG files per book. I had to figure out how to compile them. I know that we could do that with Adobe Photoshop but I do not have that program. Actually, most of my installed programmes are freeware anyway.
So I spent the whole of last night searching for suitable free programs that could do this for me but they all have limitations either in the number of pages that it could compile or in the file size. My scanned documents were large because I selected high quality output. I figured that some people would want to print out after downloading.
I have to say after searching one whole night and couldn’t figure out how to compile my images into one PDF file, I asked a friend who game me a solution so easy, I need to share it here.
Just open MS Word, insert picture one by one and select “print to PDF” which actually saves your file into a PDF file from the print option. Of course, you will have to install software that would allow one to print to PDF. My friend recommended CuteWriter but I dislike it because it installs the ASK toolbar onto my computer even though I unchecked the option. I opted for the free version of PrimoPDF. It also will install a lot of stuff to your computer but that’s not spyware like a browser toolbar!
