ALGOCO Is Dead, OK?

Sometimes people do things that make you wonder if they ever read. I recently stumbled upon a blog where the blogger said that he signed up with ALGOCO after reading a post on another blog talking about ALGOCO and how we were supposed to be able to make a little or a lot of income, depending on our down line, just by surfing the internet like we normally do.

Well, the concept is great and it would be excellent if all of us could make decent pocket money by staying at home just surfing the internet but life is not so straight-forward most times.

The point is, the post was about how ALGOCO has closed shop but once this guy read that ALGOCO could have earned us money, he signed up! The wonder doesn’t end there. I have to ask why the sign up form was still around on the ALGOCO website that there are people like this blogger could go and sign up with the program.

The people I pity are those who spent half a lifetime trying to recruit as many down line members as possible. Hah… to say that they were taken for a ride is an understatement.

Nexus Radio: Free Internet Radio

Since owning an Apple iPhone, I have been trying to fill it up with music. Normally, that would not be a problem at all but recently, we have been warned that we will be fined MYR250,000 should we be caught downloading intellectual material like music, movies and software illegally, So out went my peer-to-peer programs.

I tried searching for free music on the internet and although there are such websites available, the “free” music offered are usually of some really obscure musicians and I don’t really want those!

This morning, I got to know of Nexus Radio, a free internet radio where we only have to download a software, install it, and start scanning the more than seven thousand radio stations spanning 38 different genres of music.

I have to say, this idea is nothing new. However, Nexus Radio is more advanced as we are able to download whatever broadcasts and tracks, automatically named and tagged, for playback later or to copy them to our music devices for music on the go. The only requirement is that your device has t support mp3 format.

If you love music as much as I do and believe that we should not be paying for music then do yourself a favour and check out Nexus Radio.

Lowdown On The Best Online Casinos

The other day, I wrote a post questioning if there is an ultimate online casino. I am sure there is, just that we have not discovered it yet.

I am sure that if you are like me, you would not have the time to visit every online casino site to read their terms and conditions, check their bonus structure and play a game or two to see if their graphics are up to standard. What I do is to read about all the major online casinos from a single source. That way, I get to compare their benefits with the guidance of professional online casino reviewers.

Gamblux.com is just such an online casino review site that strives to bring us all the happening online casino news and reviews in one single portal. If you need to know the about leading online casinos, Gamblux.com is the site to consult. Which online casino offers you the highest sign-up bonus? That, you will have to find out from Gamblux.com too!

At first glance, you may think that Gamblux.com is overloaded with information but it is actually a very user-friendly site and navigation is a breeze. Not only will you get a professional guide on the top online casinos of the moment, if you are new to online casinos, then Gamblux.com has a comprehensive page of online casino rules and strategies which you should check out.

What’s Up With Yahoo! Messenger’s “Hey Sexy!” Messages?

I don’t know what is wrong with my Yahoo! Messenger that I am getting “Hey Sexy” messages, with audio, a few times a day! I know that the number of times I am getting this is not an indication of anything out of the ordinary, just that my computer is connected to the internet almost the whole day (and night).

Are others getting this weird message from persons (or bots) unknown or is my Yahoo! Messenger bugged? I remember not too long a go, one of my Yahoo! Messenger contacts sent me a link asking me to check out his holiday photos and I did click on it because I really thought that it was his online holiday photo album.

A few months after that, I met him and told him that I can’t open his “holiday album” and he was blur, “What album??”

Uh-uh… I went home and changed the password of my Yahoo! account. Perhaps it is already too late. I don’t know if it was because of this that my Yahoo! Messenger is now acting weird. Any idea?

Oh yeah, come to think of it, sometimes it is not “Hey sexy” with a weird smilie icon but in a foreign language which I suspect is Hindi or something.

Somebody please tell me that it is not that my Yahoo! account has been compromised that I am getting these messages but that the problem lies with a loophole with Yahoo! in general!

Geee… isn’t it creepy?

5GB Windows Live Mail

I wonder how many people noticed that Windows Live mail, formerly known as Hotmail, is now offering us 5GB of space. Well, I would not have known about it if I did not log into my account this morning to check the people who are in my contacts list.

Firstly, although I know that Microsoft have rebranded Hotmail to be a part of Windows Live, I would still always refer to it as Hotmail. Similarly, I would always refer to Microsoft’s internet browser as IE and not Windows Internet Explorer. As the saying goes, you can’t tea old dog new tricks.

What do you think we should do with the 5GB of storage space? Don’t they think that they are giving it to us a little too late? I am actually not that concern about how much storage we have since I have Gmail [spank me for still using a Goo—- product!] for that but my main concern is how large a file we could attach in a single attachment.

Besides, I although I use Hotmail and MSN Messenger (I know, I know, it’s Windows Live Messenger NOW), I access my Hotmail email from Microsoft’s Outlook Express and I occassionally send out email with my Hotmail access via Gmail. That’s what I like about Gmail.

Picking Domain Names

Phew, it really is not easy to pick domain names especially if you prefer dot coms only. Last night while I was searching for ways to come up with great domain names, domain names that are short, easy to remember and spell, I chanced upon a website where they offer the services of coming up with domain names and we have to pay US$50 for each name.

The good thing is that although we have to prepay US$50, if none of the domain names that are offered to us are up to our expectations, we could seek a refund.

And this company also has many freelancers working for them churning out one domain name suggestion after another to offer to these clients and if the domain name is selected, the person who came up with the name will receive US$25 for his or her effort.

Sometimes, this company may register a domain name which they think has the potential but has been rejected by their client. In this instance, they will put the domain name for sale on sites like SitePoint and if a sale goes through, the name contributor will receive a third of the sale price.

HHmm this is a great concept provided it is not abused by all parties involved. I mean, the client could reject the domain names suggested but then register it later under someone else’s name or the company or staff could register a domain name and not sell it or not give the contributor his share of the sale price and nobody would know.

And if the domain name is so good why doesn’t the contributor registers it himself and sell it by himself? It’s not expensive to register one or two domain names. In any case, I signed up for a Contributor’s account 😀

Next 2 Friends

Yesterday, I received an email notification that Next2Friends is now in Beta. This is the latest social network portal on the web. I registered myself. Surprised? Me, who did not even join FaceBook, the site that practically everyone and his dog joined? Well, prizes like iPods and laptops sure can drive membership!

However, I don’t think they mentioned how these prizes will be dispersed. Perhaps they are given to those who sign up the most new members or something like that and so that means I don’t even stand a chance because I don’t like spamming my friends and family with email invites to register with this or that website.

With so many social networking portals to expand our social circle, really, it is not easy not to have friends nowadays, even if they are only virtual ones but then friendship has to start somewhere, right?

If you are curious to know what Next2Friends could offer you that Friendster, MySpace, Facebook and every other social network portals in between have not been offering, then you will have to hop over to Next2Friends to read about them because I am not going to write them here.
