Keyword of the Day

The other day, my friend told me that the keyword of the day is “Kelly Tan E Li” and asked me to pwn it. As you can see, I did not write any post on her, who suddenly became popular due to a Valentine’s Day marriage proposal via an advertising billboard that her fiancé placed. Well, he’s in that business and yet still spent RM54K for one month. Some people think that it is a ridiculous amount of money to “waste” while some people think that it is a good deal but if you know that advertising budgets can run into millions, RM54K is really only a drop in the bucket.

Anyway, I don’t seek out keywords of the day to write my blogs. What I do is write what I like and if I do hi the jackpot and traffic comes in via search engines, I am delighted. Delighted because traffic like this would be like a bonus to me and I did not purposely manipulate the search engine results positions by bolding my words or whatever.

Blogging is a passion and I believe that many bloggers will tell you that the yare perfectly happy to blog even if there are not that many readers. Traffic comes and goes, but the passion burns on. Correct or not?

Visually Lacking

This morning, I went to my regular vet and I had a chance to talk to him. He recently set up a website and I told him that he needs to put plenty of photos of his clinic and of himself on his website then only will people with pets, potential clients, have confidence and faith in him as a doctor and caregiver to their pets.

My vet says that he knows his site is visually lacking but he is pressed for time to improve on it. He told me help him but I am already hard pressed for time, taking care of my fourteen blogs, one personal website, one ecommerce site and one website. Besides, I sort of promised a friend that I would help him to clean up his bloated server and upgrade his WordPress, though there is no deadline for me to complete these tasks, since I am not being paid.

If my pet would pay me then it would be different, but how can I ask him for payment? I’d rather he does not increase the prices of my pet’s food and medication!

In any case, I did give him feedback and hope that he will see my suggestions through. I have been to millions of websites and as a pet owner I know what I will be looking for when browsing through the website of a veterinarian.

Titans Exclusive Programme

First there was the Gliterati and now there is Titans. Frankly, I would be far happier if I do not have to choose either one. Both blog advertorial programmes are making me money as long as I keep my blog traffic up. However, why mut I be forced to choose one over the other?

As could be seem since the launch of Gliterati a month ago, my revenue has dropped drastically from this programme just because I am not an exclusive member. Can you imaging serving an ad campaign on the same slot to ever higher traffic numbers for RM0.88 per week only compared to the pre-Gliterrati days of RM3.XX with lower traffic numbers? Yet, I was sent an invitation to a screen of one movie or another. Honestly, I don’t care to go to these premier screenings or whatever. A movie is a movie is a movie whether you watched it first or later, whether it was at a premier screening or from a DVD at home.

Naturally, I have not been very happy at all since then but still, I take these blog ad programmes as bonuses and I don’t care when I get my cheque as long as I get it.

I don’t get it why I have to show loyalty one over the other. To me, the more revenue streams I have open to me, the better.

Rising Alexa Concern

I don’t know what is wrong with Alexa lately but so many of my friends are complaining that their Alexa reading has been rising steadily. Personally, even though my blogs have been pounded by traffic since beginning of the month, surprisingly, my Alexa reading has been climbing up steadily.

I told a friend that my Alexa has risen and he said, “Good lah.” And I was like “What is so good about it?? It has RISEN!!!”

Although I try not to be concerned about all those little numbers that make up my Alexa ranking, It s still preferred to have a lower number than a higher one!! It is just too bad that the Alexa redirect has broken. Every little bit counts, you know?

Building A Computer From Scratch

It’s not easy to be a girl who has no luck with the computer. Each time I take the computer to the repair shop, I am afraid that they may scam me. Let’s just put that fear down to a very nasty experience I had a long time ago at another shop.

A friend offered to teach me to build and troubleshoot a computer but he lives 250km away and I certainly cannot afford the time to travel to him, shop for PC parts, spend a day building the computer and learning how to install the Operating System and other nitty gritty stuff!

A while ago, I was told that there is an easier way to learn how to build a computer from scratch as long as we have the interest. Not only do we get to learn how to build a PC from the beginning if we were to buy PC kits, we even get to save a considerable amount of money.

I actually was contemplating buying a new computer as mine is running slow and seems like it’s getting old and tired but after reading Easy As My PC at http://www.easyasmypc.com, where they recommend upgrading of PC components instead of changing the whole system. This sounds like a better idea and I can use the savings on my laptop fund.

Get Paid To Complete Offers

Last night, a friend asked me why I blog like hell to earn that little amount of money when there are far easier ways. I was curious because I am sure that if he could say like that, it means that he has a secret of earning money on the internet!

Coincidentally, just now, I was told that there is a company called MetaPaid, which you can check out at http://www.metapaid.com, that is paying members to sign up for and complete offers. On top of that we get 15% over riding commission for all earnings of members that we have referred.

I read that payment is either by cash via PayPal or by gift certificate and the minimum payout is only $10. I think this is very reasonable.

I am tempted to get paid to sign up! Unfortunately, this money making program is only open to residents of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Aawww isn’t that just too bad?

I was told that there are over thousands of dollars in offers to be completed but I could not view them unless I am a registered member.

As a word of precaution, though, if you are signing up for trial offers, make sure that you cancel your subscription in time so as not to get billed.

What Happened To My Widget Bucks Widget?

I don’t know how long this has been going on because I hardly access my blog except on the back end. However, I kept feeling that just something is missing from my sidebar but I could not place it in my mind the missing item.

Just now, it hit me that my Widget Bucks widget is missing. Well, I have been a member for quite a while but have only started to display the widget on my three blogs a couple of months ago.

What I do not like about Widget Bucks is that it loads slow, most widgets are like that. BUT the thing is, they don’t even give me any money even though there was one click. Hey, I don’t mind getting $0.01 or even RM0.001 from a really notorious local blog advertisement company, but 0 is really bad.

From what I understand, Widget Bucks also pay by impressions. Well, I don’t get anything from that as well. I thought of removing them from my blogs so I checked my three blogs, and like I said, the widget was totally missing from two of my blogs and the third one redirects to eBay. Why do I need to redirect people to eBay using another person’s affiliate? Really pissed off.

So Widget Bucks bungkus already, is it?? Anyone knows??
